Our Irish men are getting a very hard time – first off, they’re not allowed onto dating site beautifulpeople.com because they’re deemed too ugly, and now, to add insult to, well, insult, they’re being urged to sign up to the sites new ‘adopt-an-ugly-person’ initiative!

The people who run the site wanted to offer some help to their ugly rejectees by getting good looking members to mentor them.

The scheme is open to anyone over 18 “who feels they could do with help to improve their looks”, and they’re expecting a lot of single Irish men to sign up, as they reckon these are the people most in need of some help in the looks department.

Seriously – leave our guys alone! Sure they’re grand as they are!

There’s not much that could take your attention away from your brand new husband on your big day, unless, of course Beyoncé and Jay Z walked in unannounced!

The star couple decided to take a look around a local church on their Italian break, but little did they know there was a wedding going on inside.

Of course, they posed for pictures with the bride, who looked like she couldn’t believe her eyes! Also, we love her dress! So pretty!

It’s Friday night, you’ve splashed out on one of the “expensive” bottles of wine in Tesco (i.e. the one that costs €9 instead of €5)… and you realise you’ve no corkscrew. Ultimate downer.

Panic not, as the guys over at The Food Beast have made this video showing ten epic ways to open a bottle of wine without the usual tools.

Some of them are a little too adventurous for us – we wouldn’t recommend trying the blowtorch one at home – but some are downright genius, like using a knife or key to twist and pull the cork out.

Or course, if you usually buy screw-top wines this won’t be an issue for you – but sometimes it’s nice to treat yo’self!

Enjoy!

You’d think that having a rock-star dad would fill you with envy of their singing abilities, but Eve Hewson is DE-lighted she can’t sing like her dad!

The 23-year-old actress said: “Thank God, I can’t sing because that would be a lot of pressure. It’s nice doing something that’s my own passion.”

Instead, Eve has her heart set on Broadway, and working with the likes of playwright Martin McDonagh:

“I love New York and theatre. I love Martin McDonagh. If he’s doing a movie or a play, I want to be involved with it.”

We can’t imagine Eve will have a hard time making contact with Martin McDonagh, Bono is sure to have a few contacts that will come in handy for her career! Not that she needs her dad’s help – the young star is already in a list by Variety magazine of the top ten actors to watch out for in 2014, and she was even on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon!

With that kind of success at 23-years-old, who cares if you can sing?!

There was quite a bit of speculation about whether or not Pink’s daughter Willow was going to be a big sister soon, and it turns out…she isn’t. Awh!

It’s ok though, because Pink has been busy making something else – a new album!

The singer announced yesterday (on her birthday, of course!) the arrival of her “new baby”:

The album is a bit different to what we’re used to from the pop star, as she has teamed up with City & Colour’s Dallas Green to create a folk album called Rose Ave., which will be released October 14th.

It looks as though the pair took some inspiration from Zooey Deschanel’s band She & Him when it came to choosing a name for their collaboration, as they went with You+Me. We like it!

Pink gave fans a preview of the album yesterday as she shared the link to their first single, You and Me. It definitely has a different sound to her usual hits, but we really love it! Take a listen for yourselves:

The arrival of this folk album is a sign that Pink is keen to get back to basics, and not just in terms of music! Her husband Carey Hart shared this cute photo of their daughter Willow "doing some morning sampling":

Awh – so idyllic! After seeing this, we might just pick some blackberries when we get home, like the good old days!

A sore throat is one thing most of us can count on getting at some stage this autumn or winter as the colder weather sets in. Even when we're wrapped up warmly, sometimes pesky bacteria can just get the better of us.

If you feel a tickly throat coming on, try these quick remedies to help you to catch it before it gets worse, or to soothe the pain until you can get to a doctor if needed.

1. Gargle salt water
This is the Irish mammy’s go-to remedy for a sore throat. Salt can help to reduce swelling and can also help to flush away bacteria in the throat. Gargle for 15 – 20 seconds and spit out and you should notice an ease in the pain.

2. Have a cough drop
Sucking on any kind of sweet increases saliva production which will soothe your throat. However for added benefits be sure to get cough drops with numbing or cooling aids like eucalyptus.

3. Keep hydrated!
Drinking enough water keeps your mucus membranes moist (ewww, we know) which makes them better equipped to fight bacteria. The more hydrated you are, the less likely you are to get a stuffed up nose and a head cold with that sore throat.

4. Tea, always tea!
Not only will hot liquid ease the pain in your throat, non-herbal teas (i.e. plain black or green tea) contain antioxidants which can help boost your immune system. Try to avoid milky drinks like hot chocolate though as excess dairy can increase production of mucus – not good if you’re harbouring a cold.

5. Chicken soup for the soul…and the throat
A good chicken broth is comforting and warming, but the sodium in the broth can also help to reduce inflammation in your throat. Soup is a great all-round choice if you’re having difficulty swallowing as it means you’ll get lots of nourishment without the pain of chewing and eating.

Taylor Swift always seems really nice to us – remember that time she gave a fan some heartfelt romantic advice on Instagram? But it looks as though being nice can still get you some enemies!

The singer revealed in a recent interview that there is one star she does not get on with in the slightest:

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'

Could it be…?!

“[Then last year] she did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy!”

Taylor, who is it?! You can’t leave us wondering! But unfortunately, she does. The only hint she gives is that the reason they fell out was to do with business:

“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it.”

Taylor wants to make it clear that her song Bad Blood from the album 1989 is about this unnamed star, and NOT an ex-boyfriend:

“I know people will make it this big girl-fight thing. But I just want people to know it's not about a guy. You don't want to shade someone you used to date and make it seem like you hate him, when that's not the case.”

Ok Taylor. That’s fine. How about we just list out a few celebrities and you can nod yes or no if it’s about them? Technically you’re not really telling if you do that! Let’s see… Ariana Grande? Miley Cyrus? Or could it be Katy Perry, who hired three of Taylor's backup dancers last year? And ALSO dated her ex John Mayer?

And let's not forget, Taylor tweeted this to Katy last year, which in the light of this recent interview, sounds VERY sarcastic:

Ooo – the claws are coming out!

UPDATE:

Katy Perry has responded to Taylor's recent statements, and we gotta say, we're thinking she may have a point!

Singer Leona Lewis has opened up about her battle with depression in an open letter to her fans.

The X Factor star tweeted pictures of the two-page handwritten letter, which outlined her “rollercoaster year”.

Speaking about her mental health in recent months, she said, “At some points I felt extremely depressed and other times experienced amazing highs but it got to a place where the downs were outweighing the ups. I'm writing this letter for anyone who has ever felt the same way.”

Leona, who recently left Simon Cowell’s label Syco, said that the adjustment was very difficult for her. “Change is uncomfortable,” she said. “It’s sticky and churning and can be painful. It can turn your world upside down and you either sink or swim.”

The pop star spoke candidly about her depression. “At times it seems overwhelming and I spiral to a dark place,” she explained.

However she added that she is “ready” for what the future brings. “I chose to swim, I chose to go through it and honestly I’m not sure where I’ll end up… So whatever the future may bring, I am ready.”

Often when a celebrity launches a new product it’s clear from the get-go that it’s all just a moneymaking ploy.

Much as we’re sure One Direction like to smell good, we doubt they had any input whatsoever into their new fragrance line. The same goes for many other celebrity endorsements – it’s just a way for a brand to bump up the publicity.

In some cases though, the celebrity has a genuine interest in their product and releases something we’d actually buy regardless of the name attached. Nowhere is that truer than in the case of these fashion lines, all of which were created and designed (we’re told) by celebrities…

Kate Moss for Topshop
Kate Moss first collaborated with Topshop back in 2007, and this summer the range made a return to stores. Think luxe fabrics, sexy dresses and LOTS of fringing and you have the right idea. We’re big fans!

Elizabeth and James
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen had amazing success with their high-fashion line, The Row. For a more wearable and trend-friendly look though, we prefer Elizabeth and James, which the girls launched a year later. Their newest line has some amazing structured blazers and a great monochrome palette.

Victoria Beckham
Proving that she’s more than just a Spice Girl, Victoria has enjoyed huge success with her fashion line, with a great new Spring/Summer collection revealed at New York Fashion Week on Sunday. With most pieces retailing between $600 and $6,000 it’s hardly Penney’s prices, but hey, a girl can dream! Victoria also has a spin-off line, aptly titled Victoria, Victoria Beckham (original!) which has some distinctly more playful and youthful looks – but with the same hefty price tags, sadly.

The Jessica Simpson Collection
Lots of flirty florals and great basics have made Jessica Simpson’s clothing line a huge success for everyday wear at reasonable prices – she is reportedly the most successful celeb fashion designer in the US.

Kendall and Kylie for PacSun
The Jenner sisters collaborated with young adult brand PacSun to create a line that is surprisingly wearable. Is it awful that we’d kind of love that white tee-shirt with a Kendall selfie on the front?!

The world of online dating can be very tricky to manoeuvre.

While this (very catchy) tune doesn't make things any easier for us Tinderites, it at least makes us feel like maybe our struggle is Broadway-worthy! Well done to this group of singers for putting together this cheesy, but admittedly very relevant, musical theatre number.

Behold… Online Dating: The Musical!

They say that a true sign of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well, if that definition were to be applied to love and relationships, I firmly believe that a large chunk of the female population would be declared insane.

There’s something about bad boys that makes many of us weak at the knees, no matter how many times we've had our hearts broken by them. It’s a hard one to figure out. Surely by nature we should be wired to want the reliable guy who isn’t going to leave us high and dry? So why instead do we choose the men who play hot and cold and leave us checking our phones every five minutes for a text that only ever seems to arrive at 3am on a Saturday?

I’m not saying that every gal out there goes by the bad boy rule. Most of us have fallen for the wrong guy at some stage, and some wiser women have come to realise that bad does NOT equal good. But for those of us who seem to be in self-destruct mode when it comes to choosing potential guys, why do we keep making the same mistakes?

Some scientists say it’s down to hormones. Studies have proven that when we are ovulating, we see “sexier” men as better choices than “dependable” men.

I reckon there’s a bit more to it than that, though. There’s a certain thrill that comes with pursuing someone who is never going to fully return the favour. A guy who is courteous, kind, reliable and full of compliments might sound amazing on paper, but what’s all that without some element of spontaneity and excitement? Men who are overly sweet and attentive can sometimes come across as a bit over-eager which immediately removes the challenge for us ladies.

We may even end up rationalising a bad boy’s behaviour – I mean, at least your relationship will never be boring, right? When a guy is mysterious (read: always unavailable) he becomes like a puzzle – and the more complex it gets, the more we want to solve it.

There are always going to be bad guys out there, and while they can be great fun for a passionate fling or a few weeks of fun, that’s all we should really be expecting from them. Hoping that you’ll be the one to tame him or make him see the light is no way to enter into things. After all, if a relationship is a constant challenge, will you ever be fully at ease in it?

What makes me hopeful though, is the fact that after a string of bad choices, many of my friends have found genuinely nice, caring guys who treat them well. Sometimes we need to work our way through the full spectrum of personality types out there to find out what is going to work, and what definitely isn’t.

And I do believe that when you find a guy who you click with – on that exciting, first-glance, first spark level – the fact that he is nice, kind, and loving isn’t a deal breaker, it’s just a bonus.
