We all remember the moment : Walking into your school assembly, palms sweating, after a summer of stressing, to receive the results of the Leaving Cert.

You had barely slept the night before, and that slightly sickly feeling of apprehension caused your stomach to lurch as trembling fingers ripped the top off that brown envelope.

Almost 60,000 secondary school students are going through those emotions this morning, as they collect their results from their respective schools around the country.

This year saw a new grading system, where CAO points were awarded for scores over 30 per cent, rather than 40 per cent as was the norm previously.

This could be responsible for the rise in students opting to take Higher Level subjects.

Higher Lever Irish saw a 10 per cent increase of students taking the paper, while Maths saw an 8 per cent increase.

The more lenient grading system has seen a decrease in failure rates this year.

According to The Irish Times, failure rates have dropped by an average of 50 per cent across key subjects.

It may have taken him 48 hours, but Donald Trump has finally commented on the white nationalist rally which took place in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend.

One protestor, Heather Heyer, lost her life in the violence after a car sped into the crowd. Up to 19 others were injured.

The POTUS defended the white supremacists who rallied in protest of the removal of a statue of Robert E Lee, a confederate general.

'Not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me, not all of those people were white supremacists,' he said in a press conference this morning.

'You also had people that were very fine people on both sides' he said, when asked about the violence.

He also criticised the 'alt-left' for participating in the rally, saying that they 'came violently attacking the other group.'

'What about the alt-left, that came charging at the, as you say, the alt-right? Do they have any semblance of guilt? What about the fact that they came charging with clubs in their hands, do they have any problem? I think they do.'

He also supported the cause of the protest of the white nationalists, saying: 'This week, it is Robert E. Lee and this week, Stonewall Jackson.'

'Is it George Washington next week and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You have to ask yourself, where does it stop?'

He referred to the journalists at the press conference as 'fake news' rather than addressing them individually.

Anna Faris has thanked her fans for their love and support in an emotional statement on her podcast, Anna Faris is Unqualified.

Last week, fans of the actress were left devastated by the news and she and husband, Chris Pratt, had decided to split after eight years of marriage.

The beloved Hollywood couple announced their separation in a joint statement on Facebook and Twitter, admitting they had “tried hard for a long time.”

After initially saying they wanted to keep the situation “as private as possible,” Anna has finally broken her silence.

“Hey, dear listeners. I just want to thank you all so much for all the love I’ve been receiving, and I truly love you.”

The actress often uses her podcast to discuss personal matters and has previously hinted at struggles in her relationship, leading some fans to believe that her marriage may have been trouble for some time.

“My long-distance relationship with Chris, I wouldn’t describe it as that, but we do spend a lot of time apart,” she said in May of this year.

On July 31, just days before the pair announced their split, Anna admitted she often felt lonely and uncomfortable:

“There’s definitely a loneliness and, like, an internal element to being a performer.”

“I feel like I have to laugh. Like, if I have a red carpet thing or whatever, which I’m never comfortable, but I’m always like, “I’m fine!” And it never feels like me.”

Chris Pratt made his first public appearance since the split at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night, though he did not comment on the situation.

Social media can be a cruel place.

For the most part, online communities are filled with encouraging words and positive vibes, but as we know, hateful and nasty comments still filter through.

Sure, you could brush them off, or even compose a well thought out response, but deep down you know neither of these options will ever provide the sweet, sweet revenge you're really after – but cake might!

Troll Cakes, a innovative New York bakery, is turning its customers' cruel hate comments into delicious cakes and hand delivering them to their bully's door – so they can quite literally, eat their own words.

Founded by Kat Thek, the self-taught baker was inspried to start the business after seeing a mean comment on Dolly Parton's Facebook page.

“You can’t take a troll seriously,” she told Pix11.

“It’s just an idiot who said something and if somebody wants to yell ‘I’m a huge idiot’ I think it’s our duty to let them do that and put it on a cake and make them see how it looks.”

Later this month, our very own Niall Horan will embark on his first ever solo world tour – and he's bringing some local talent along for the ride.

The Slow Hands singer took to Twitter earlier today announce the support acts for his upcoming Flicker Sessions tour, adding that he wanted to make it “as Irish as possible.”

The Dublin-based Wild Youth will join Niall for his opening show in Dublin's Olympia theatre, while Kildare duo, Picture This, will join the former One Direction member in London and Stockholm.

And as if that wasn't enough, the super-talented Gavin James will support Niall in the US and Toronto.

Many fans were left disappointed after tickets for the Flicker Sessions tour sold out in minutes, and to be honest, we reckon this latest announcement will just rub salt in the wound.

We all know that Kim Kardashian is the absolute Queen of selfies – but how does she achieve such greatness?

Well, Kim's flawless snaps are all down to her trusty phone case, that has a built in spotlight.

Obviously, there's a reason why we don't all have Kim-esque social snaps, as her LuMee case will set you back a casual €50, which seems like a lot of money for a case.

However, fear not sweet ladies.

The Penneys Gods have given us a gift – in the form of a LuMee case for a fraction of the price.

The bargain version of the highly sought after phone case costs just €9.50, and we're honestly overwhelmed.

Our favourite high street store revealed the product on their Instagram story, showing exactly how it works, and it honestly looks so similar to the LuMee case.

Oh, and the best part?

These phone cases are in store RIGHT NOW, so you won't face any of that waiting business (we hate that).

Strike a pose, ladies – your Instagram will thank you!

The father of a white nationalist protestor has publicly disowned his son in an emotional open letter published on Monday.

Pearce Tefft's son, Peter, was among the group of far-right demonstrators who took to the streets of Charlottesville, Virgina, last weekend.

The rally quickly turned violent after the group clashed with counter-protestors, resulting in the death of one woman who was killed after a car ploughed into a crowd of people.

Pearce was prompted to write his statement after his youngest son was identified through a number of photos and interviews that appeared across social media.

In the letter, posted on inforum.com, he wrote:

“I, along with all of his siblings and his entire family, wish to loudly repudiate my son’s vile, hateful and racist rhetoric and actions. We do not know specifically where he learned these beliefs. He did not learn them at home.”

“I have taught all of my children that all men and women are created equal. That we must love each other all the same.”

“Evidently Peter has chosen to unlearn these lessons, much to my and his family’s heartbreak and distress. We have been silent up until now, but now we see that this was a mistake.”

The devastated father then went on to explain his decision to disown his son, saying he was no longer welcome at family gatherings.

“I pray my prodigal son will renounce his hateful beliefs and return home. Then and only then will I lay out the feast.”

“Why must we be guilty by association?,” he added.

Other members of Peter's extended family have publicly condemned his actions and have even asked him to change his name.

His nephew, Jacob Scott Weiber wrote on Facebook: “For anybody who is looking at my Facebook account because they found me through my nazi uncle, Peter Tefft, I would like it to be known that I have nothing to do with him, I utterly repudiate him, and I repudiate his vile nazi ideology.”

"Peter, if you are reading this, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR NAME IMMEDIATELY.”

So, at this stage we're all well aware of the negative impact social media can have on our mental health.

Whether we're drooling over someone else's lunch, or pining after that leather jacket we'll never be able to afford, a quick scroll through our social feeds can sometimes leave us feeling, well, just a bit fed up really.

However, new research has shown that a five-minute Facebook session could actually boost your self-esteem.

For the study, led by Dr Zaheer Hussein, Lecturer in Psychology at Derby University, 163 participants, aged between 18 – 24, were asked to complete a survey before and after a short scroll through Facebook.

Results showed that a person's stress level played a huge part in how they conducted the social media session, with higher stress levels leading to more intense use.

What's more, researchers found a 'significant' increase in self-esteem when participants used the social network for five-minutes, once a day.

Dr Hussain said: “A five-minute Facebook session can immediately result in increased levels of self-esteem. This may be because users who browsed their close friends, chatted with them, or viewed positive content on social networking sites would display a momentary increase in self-esteem.”

Basically, five-minutes is the optimum time for a feel-good scroll, because after that, you're likely to get sucked thorugh a spiralling wormhole only to reappear two hours hours later, halfway through a photo album your ex uploaded in 2014 – which, let's face it, isn't a good look for anyone.

While people who are overweight might enjoy active lifestyles and high levels of fitness, it seems those extra pounds could increase the risk of heart attack, no matter how healthy the person may seem.

A recent study of over half a million people across Europe has debunked the 'fat but fit' myth, after results showed that overweight and obese people had up to a 28 per cent higher risk of developing coronary heart disease, even if their blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels were normal.

Head researcher, Camille Lassale, of University College London, concluded that "there is no such thing as being healthy obese."

"You are at an increased risk of heart disease," she added.

For the study, scientists examined data on 520,000 people in 10 countries from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC).

During a follow-up period of 12 years, 7,637 people were found to have encountered issues with heart health.

After comparing this group to 10,000 others in the study, researchers found that people who were overweight but healthy had a 26 per cent increased risk of developing heart disease.

This risk rose to 28 per cent for those with a BMI over 30.

"Even if you are classified as metabolically healthy, (excess weight) was associated with an increased risk of heart disease," Camille said.

"It's another brick in the wall of evidence that being healthy overweight is not true."
