Last weekend, Síle Seoige shared a photo of her baby bump on Instagram, and alluded to the fact she was doing what every mum-to-be does in the final days of her pregnancy journey – playing the waiting game.

"Lazy Saturday vibes waiting for this little one to make an appearance!" the popular broadcaster wrote. "Due date just around the corner."

Earlier this week, Síle updated her followers on her progress by revealing that she felt compelled to increase her Raspberry Leaf Tea intake in the days leading up to her child's arrival, writing: "I've upgraded from the 30% Raspberry Leaf Tea to the 100%! Here's hoping! #BumpWatch."

And today, the 38-year-old has returned to Instagram to reveal that the wait is now over, and she is the proud mum of a baby boy named Cathal.

Sharing a touching snap of his hand wrapped around her finger, Síle wrote: "Feeling incredibly lucky, thankful & so so happy!"

"Our baby boy arrived safe & sound in the early hours of the 2nd of August and we're in love," she continued in a post which has been liked hundreds of times in the past hour.

"Thanks so much for all the messages…a lot of you had a feeling something was stirring!" she added.

Emblazoned across the tender image were the words: "Cathal said hello to his mommy and daddy on the 2nd of August, weighing in at 8 pounds 2 ounces. Life begins."

Síle and her partner Damian O'Farrell have been inundated with messages of support and congratulations following the announcement, with Anna Daly writing: "Gorgeous. Little boys are divine Sile."

"You have a life of love & affection (and noise!!) ahead of you," she added.

"Fantastic news. Congratulations! And welcome to the world baby Cathal," commented another fan of the star.

Stop everything!

Netflix have just released the official trailer for the third season of drug cartel drama, Narcos.

Now that the hunt for Pablo Escobar has ended, the DEA have turned their attention to the powerful Cali Cartel, led by its four kings.

Unlike Escobar, this cartel prefers to bribe government officials and keep its violent actions away from the headlines.

However, just as Gilberto, AKA the “boss of bosses”, announces his plans to walk away form the business, DEA agent, Javier Peña, enlists the help of American and Colombian law enforcement to take it down.

The new season of Narcos opens a complex world of new figures including Franklin Jurado, the cartel’s money launderer who unknowingly puts his wife, Christina (Kerry Bishe) in mortal danger and David Rodriguez, Miguel’s oldest son, who is reluctant at first to take a leading role in the cartel structure.

All rules have changed for the narcos and their opponents, but the questions is – will they realise this before it's too late?

Narcos season three, premieres globally on Netflix on September 1.

It might seem like aeons ago, but there was a time when feminine hygiene products completely and utterly baffled you.

You may have seen them stored in your bathroom cupboard or squirrelled away in your mum's handbag, but aside from giving them a cursory glance, you didn't tend to give them much thought.

So, it's no surprise that when this particular eight-year-old girl found a pad in her sister's handbag, she struggled to see how she could incorporate it into her make-up routine.

Luckily, this kid was blessed with serious smarts, and didn't let the unknown product confuse her for too long.

Twitter user, Jaiden Park, took to Twitter this week to share the hilarious footage of her younger sister foraging for cosmetic supplies, and the internet is in absolute knots over it.

Commenting on the post which has amassed 38,000 likes so far, one Twitter user wrote: "The way she looks at it like 'Right so what do I do with you?'"

"She actually inspects it so seriously, I'm dying," added another while someone else remarked: "I can't count how many times I've watched this and it never gets old."

Ladies, that is gold.

Ladies, all hail your new hero, Ronan Byrne.

The Irish lad, who attends the Dublin Institute of Technology, has designed an exercise bike which will allow you to binge-watch Netflix… as long as you continue pedalling, that is.

Cycflix, which is currently in proptype stages, will alert the user that their TV show or movie will come to an end if they don't continue to pedal thereby encouraging the individual to maintain a steady pace in order to stay up to date with their chosen storylines.

Elaborating on the design on his blog, Ronan wrote: "It uses a stationary exercise bike connected to an Arduino Nano to control the streaming of Netflix on a PC."

"The main gist of the project is that, at the click of a button and some user input, Firefox will open and play Netflix and monitor your speed for the workout routine you designed."

"If you are going below the speed for too long, Netflix will be paused until you get back up to speed," he added.

Sharing a video of his design on YouTube, Ronan has received considerable support from internet users impressed by his idea.

"This is f*cking clever. Congratulations!" wrote one while another added: "This is just brilliant!"

Castlepalooza and Indiependence are both kicking off this weekend, so we're sure all the essentials have been packed.

From the inflatable mattress to the bumper-pack of Tayto, there are many necessities that must be brought.

While you may be ready to slay in a field for three days, your phone might have a harder time keeping up.

Luckily in the tech savvy world we live in, there are a number of ways to update your phone to make it work for you all festival long.

Lets start with the essentials.

If you go to  festival without a power bank, prepare to be sans power for two out of the three days or spend an astronomical amount of time in queues at charging stations.

  • IOM iPhone 6 protective case €49.99

A protective case is another one of life's essentials, so if you have been thinking of investing in some hardware for your smart phone, there is no better time than ahead of a festival.

Okay, so this one might not be a necessity, but we're obsessed with this innovative little gadget (Which is currently on sale in Currys right now, FYI)

The HP Sprocket Photo Printer allows instant high quality photos to be printed straight from your phone, so you can create real life photographic memories while chilling in your tent.

  •  Gear 4house party speakers €59.99

These wireless speakers are key to keeping any festival going after the main arena has closed for the night.

The speakers use Bluetooth so are compatible with all devices. Just don't be surprised if someone yells at you because they're trying to sleep.

So we're all partial to losing our phones every now and again, but at a festival we are much more likely to have disaster strike.

The Tile tracking device shares the location of anything you attach it to, such as your wallet, purse or clothing via a smart phone or tablet app.

However, it also works in reverse, so your phone can make a noise when you double-click a button on the Tile, which is cleverly designed to attach to a key ring.

  • Aquapac Mini Phone/GPS Case €30.00

If you are paranoid about water damage, this is the thing for you.

The Aquapack keeps your pone safe from the Irish weather and leaking tents, and can be tucked subtly away under clothes or worn around the neck for easy access to your fon poca.

As part of a landmark new study, scientists in the US have successfully edited the DNA of human embryos in an effort to prevent babies being born with genetic mutations and diseases.

News of the groundbreaking, yet controversial experiment began to circulate last week, however more details were released to the public on Wednesday when the paper was published in the journal, Nature.

This is the first time this type of gene editing has been carried out in the United States, and while the results could pave the way for a total wipe out of inherited diseases, experts have warned of the need to answer the ethical and legal questions surrounding the work.

The controversy lies not in the potential correction of disease causing genes, but instead with the possible alteration of personal characteristics such as intelligence, height, facial structure and eye colour.

According to The Independent, Professor Peter Braude from King's College London observed that the results of the experiment means “the possibility of germline genome editing has moved from future fantasy to the world of possibility, and the debate about its use, outside of fears about the safety of the technology, needs to run to catch up.”

In order to conduct the study, scientists first fertilised eggs with sperm cells that included a gene that causes a heart condition known for causing sudden death in young competitive athletes.

As the eggs were fertilised, researchers applied a gene-editing tool, which works by cutting away the defective parts of the gene and allowing the cell to repair itself.

The experiment proved successful in preventing the spread of a disease that usually has a 50 per cent chance of being passed on in 42 of 58 embryos.

“Every generation on would carry this repair because we’ve removed the disease-causing gene variant from that family’s lineage,” said lead researcher, Dr Shoukhrat Mitalipov, from Oregon Health and Science University.

“By using this technique, it’s possible to reduce the burden of this inheritable disease on the family and eventually the human population.”

As it stands, using these types of treatments on humans is illegal, though some experts say they expect the law will soon change.

However, they have also warned that the legal and ethical frameworks need to catch up with the technology so as not to allow for the creation of designer babies.

People with mental health issues can feel pigeon-holed by the stereotypes that the disorder involves.

Demi Lovato has not shied away from her diagnosis as bipolar in recent years, but has spoken out about ditching the 'label' of bipolar and instead embracing it as one aspect of her personality.

Demi doesn't want to word to define her, but isn't scared to admit to her issues.

A post shared by Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) on

'I think when people refer to me as being bipolar, it's something that is true—I am bipolar—but I don't like people to use it as a label,' she told iHeartRadio's Label Defiers with Zico Coconut Water's Elvis Duran.

'It's something that I have, it's not who I am.'

Rather, she said, "I think Demi Lovato, activist, is something that I would really be proud of."

'I think it's important to speak up about the things that you believe in because your voice will be heard no matter what position you're in.'

A post shared by Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) on

'And I just happen to be in a position where more people will hear my voice than they would have 10, 15 years ago.'

'I use my voice to do more than just sing and I use it to speak up about mental health because that's something I'm very passionate about.'

We commend Demi for embracing her mental health as  just one of many things that make up who she is.

Let’s be honest here; half the fun of a hair appointment is basking in the atmosphere created by the salon in question, right?

Yes, ostensibly we’re there to get our roots sorted and split ends seen to, but that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate the ambiance generated by a creative environment.

And if there is one salon in Dublin that appreciates this, it’s Hession Hairdressing in Drumcondra.

A cornerstone of the local community and firm favourite with both locals and high-profile names, the salon has recently undergone a stunning facelift, and with renowned designer Kari Rocca at the helm, it’s safe to say that clients will be suitably impressed with the refurbishment.

Commenting on her work, she says; “My aim was to create a contemporary, timeless boutique style environment reflective of luxury hotels while at the same time providing a tranquil luxurious space for the clients.”

“We have included pockets of decorative areas, mirrors, lamps and floral arrangements to highlight the overall sense of luxury and space and to continue with this contemporary art deco scheme.”

For many of us, the time spent having our hair washed and conditioned is often the most relaxing aspect of the appointment, and Hession Hairdressing are with us on that one.

Hidden away behind black sliding glass doors is a secluded back wash room which is the epitome of relaxation. And if you're thinking spa-inspired, you'd be right.

Featuring six reclining massage chairs, ambient music and individual lighting, this area is perhaps the crowning glory of the salon’s new look.

“We wanted to creative distinctive zones within the salon, by introducing a closed washroom using smoked glass and smoked mirrors we succeeded in creating a tranquil pod with a relaxing spa like feel," Kari explains.

Oh, and it doesn’t stop there

On the upper floor of the salon lies a bespoke exclusive BUFF Make-up Suite which oozes elegance with Instagram-worthy marble surfaces and gold finishes.

Understandably, Paul Hession is as excited as we are by the salon’s new look, saying: “I’m over the moon with it.”

"Our goal was to create a chic and relaxing atmosphere with a modern twist and Kari Rocca has done an amazing job in bringing this vision to life. The reaction from clients has been amazing.”

See you at the salon, ladies.

The moniker of nasty woman has been twisted from Trump's original insulting intentions towards Hillary Clinton into a fierce description for a woman who knows what she believes and isn't afraid to get loud when fighting for her rights.

Women have taken back the term, and now it is defining a very interesting event that's kicking off in Dublin City tonight.

Nasty Women Dublin is a global art movement, bringing together artists who identify with being a Nasty Woman 'in the face of threats to roll back women’s rights, individual rights, and abortion rights. '

The collective are playing host to a fundraising event in the Pallas Projects Studio at 6,30pm this evening.

'Nasty Women Dublin is a fundraising exhibition that celebrates the strength and diversity of art by female artists in Ireland, and which acts to promote the cause of women's rights, in particular reproductive rights and The Campaign to Repeal the 8th Amendment,' reads the event description.

The event itself is free, but all proceeds from the art sold at the event will go towards supporting the  Coalition to Repeal the Eighth Amendment  and the Artists' Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment.

The event will kick off with a performance by Margaretta D'arcy, entitled 'I am a killer they say.'

Attendees can then peruse the art selection while listening to the tunes of DJing triad Eve.

This event is definitely unmissable.
