Following the launch of a new campaign aimed at tackling child homelessness, a video of a nine-year-old boy struggling to make his way around his homeless accommodation has gone viral.

David has cerebral palsy and relies on his walker and wheelchair to keep him mobile. However, as seen in the short clip, his current living situation does not accommodate his needs.

"My name is David. I am nine years old, I have cerebral palsy. My room in the B&B is very small so I can’t use my walker or wheelchair,” the caption on the video reads.

Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH) uploaded the video as part of its #MyNameIs campaign and hope that the personal nature of the clip will put a face on child homelessness in Ireland.

David is just one of 2,895 children who are currently homeless in this country.

Speaking about the campaign, David Nugent, head of advocacy at ICHH, said “On Monday morning, the country will wake up to thousands of posters of homeless children’s faces on posters around Dublin, Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick, and Galway.”

“These are real children,” he added.

In an effort to highlight the growing issues, a further 150 videos will be posted throughout the week and playwright and actor, Emmet Kirwan, will perform a spoken-word piece in Tramline on Hawkins Street, Dublin, on Monday August 28 at 8.00pm.

Posters have also been placed around Dublin city and campaigners plan to recover 2,000 of those posters to turn them into a life-size house outside of Leinster House on September 20.

So, the season finale of Game of Thrones will air on Sky Atlantic tonight and without a doubt, one of the most talked about story lines has been the romance building between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow.

However, as it turns out, the two actors, Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke, have already shared a pretty steamy kiss in front of the camera.

In light of their budding on screen romance, behind-the-scenes photos taken during a shoot for Rolling Stone back in 2012 have resurfaced online – and we've got to admit, they really do look great together.

A post shared by Peggy Sirota (@peggysirota) on

According to the New York Times, George R.R Martin had always envisioned a romance between the two characters.

“Yeah, I think it’s kind of hard to see that not happening,” said Alan Taylor, GoT director, when asked about the possibility.

“When we were shooting Season One and no one had seen the show yet, we were in Malta. Back then, there was not a lot of secrecy because nobody was paying attention, and George R.R. Martin came to visit and he was being quite open about his plans. He said something: That it really is all about Dany and Jon.”

So, will they? Won't they?

Only time will tell, but we're team Jaenerys all the way.

At 34, Kirstin Pretorius was living her best life.

Married with two healthy and happy children, Kirstin's future looked bright, and she did everything within her power to ensure that it would remain that way.

From establishing fitness goals and maintaining a healthy diet to using chemical-free products to clean her home, health and wellbeing was one of Kirstin's biggest priorities.

Looking and feeling better than ever before, the 34-year-old was left reeling when doctors determined she had three cancerous tumours in her breast which were tragically making their way into her lymph nodes.

"In this picture, I was living with cancer. I just didn't know it yet. Ironically, this year marked the peak of my 'health' and my fitness," she wrote alongside a shot of herself and her husband celebrating their ten-year wedding anniversary.

In this picture, I was living with cancer. I just didn't know it yet. Ironically, this year marked the peak of my 'health' and my fitness. I've never felt better, stronger, or more comfortable with myself than I did turning 34. My marriage had never been better and my children were thriving. Everything was beautifully bright. But, despite feeling perfectly well, I went for my routine yearly health check. And that's when they discovered 'the limp'. The lump. I look at this picture from a simply blissful family holiday celebrating my 10 year wedding anniversary and all I can think is… 'KIRSTIN how can you not know that there are 3 tumours thriving away in your breast? How can you not FEEL the cancer slipping into your lymph nodes? Why don't you FEEL sick? How can you be so stupid?!' But I didn't know and I didn't feel. If my doctor hadn't examined me, I'd still be blissfully unaware, reaching new fitness goals with my body, eating my futile little anti-oxidant high virtually-vegan wonder food diet… I'd be packing my little plastic-free super food school lunches for my girls, lecturing them on healthy lifestyles. I'd be chemically-free cleaning my home wondering why the whole world doesn't use essential oils. All the while growing and feeding my precious cancer. So check your boobs. Know your body. Cancer happens. To anyone. #breastcancer #breastexam #cancersucks #knowyourbody

Determined to raise awareness of a potentially fatal disease, Kirstin has established an Instagram page dedicated to detailing her journey since being diagnosed with cancer in June of this year.

"I didn't know and I didn't feel. If my doctor hadn't examined me, I'd still be blissfully unaware, reaching new fitness goals with my body, eating my futile little anti-oxidant high virtually-vegan wonder food diet," she wrote.

Kicking_the_big_c is Kirstin's attempt to show 'the good, the bad and the ugly' side of cancer, and its treatment.

Using photographs to document the various stages of chemotherapy with her followers, Kirstin displays incredible strength of character, and has, unsurprisingly, been inundated with messages of support from people all over the world.

Ahead of her first chemotherapy session, Kirstin shaved her head, writing: "And it's done. I can't believe my dad flew across from the other end of the globe, to arrive just in time to get this shave behind us!"

"It's been a real challenge to try and feel comfortable and confident when my reflection doesn't look like ME," Kirstin wrote alongside another photo.

"I'm a bag of bones, pale and exhausted AND have no hair. But life carries on and I refuse to hibernate for 6 months," she told her followers.

"You're kicking it with such determination, class, dignity and awesome beauty," wrote one Instagram user following Kirstin's upload documenting her second round of treatment.

"You are going to kill cancer with your smile – what an inspiration- I wish you all the strength in the world to fight this battle," added another.

Kirstin's message is clear, and one which should be internalised by every woman; "Check your boobs. Know your body.  Cancer happens. To anyone."

"This is a programme close to my heart,” Dr Des Fitzgerald said following the announcement that the University of Limerick plans to introduce designated smoke-free zones around the campus.

The university president announced that the third-level institution ultimately plans to become a 'No-Smoking' campus which means that the use of electronic cigarettes, electronic cigars, electronic pipes or other such electronic nicotine delivery systems intended to simulate smoking will be prohibited.

UL will be following in the footsteps of Athlone institute and Westport College who have completely banned the use of tobacco products on campus.

University College Dublin and Trinity College are working in the same vein as UL, with Dr Fitzgerald asserting that the plan will reinforce the University of Limerick's positive reputation.

"UL has an outstanding reputation for its campus, for the care and support it provides students and for its sports culture, and the Healthy Campus Initiative is an important step in developing this further," he said.

With the introduction of designated smoke-free zones and the establishment of support programmes for staff and students eager to quit the habit, Dr Fitzgerald is confident that the entire student body will benefit from the move.

“Through this initiative we aim to create a model of excellence and to promote a healthy environment in which to develop the minds and bodies of our students,”he continued.

The number and location of the smoke-free zones has yet to be finalised, but the Limerick Leader has confirmed that some areas will be introduced as early as next month.

Known the world over for our love of the gargle, it looks like Ireland's reputation as a nation of hard drinkers may be up for debate after a recent study determined that Ireland has dropped from the heaviest drinking nation to just above average.

17 years ago, Ireland was recognised as the heaviest drinking nation out of the 27 EU countries surveyed, but figures collated from a 2014 European Commission show that Ireland no longer holds the top spot.

Currently, Ireland takes the 12th spot, with the public consuming an average of 10.6 litres of pure alcohol per person.

However, despite the 23.6 per cent drop over the last 14 years, this figure is still 4.6 litres more than the global average.

Commenting on the findings, Eunan McKinney spokesperson for Alcohol Action Ireland, reminded the public that while the drop is, indeed, welcomed, it's important to remember our consumption is still twice the international average.

"We drink twice as much as global norms, and that, mixed with a cultural normalisation that disregards its impact, has fuelled our national crisis with alcohol."

"If Ireland were to follow the low-risk guidelines on alcohol consumption, 11 standard drinks for women and 17 for men, our target would be seven litres," he added.

So, last night P!nk was crowned the proud winner of the 2017 Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

After taking to the stage to receive the acclaimed accolade, the artist decided to shape her acceptance speech around a conversation she shared with her daughter recently.

In a revealing speech, the F*cking Perfect singer explained that her six-year-old daughter had called herself the 'ugliest girl I know'.

"I look like a boy with long hair," Willow added at the time.

Stunned by both her daughter's candour and lack of self-belief, P!nk decided to use world-famous artists to teach her daughter that refusing to follow the crowd when it comes to a gender-specific appearance is something to celebrate.

"I went home and I made a power point presentation for her. And, in that presentation, were androgynous rock stars and artists that live their truth."

"These are artists like Michael Jackson, David bowie, Freddie Mercury, Annie Lennox, Prince, Janis Joplin, and George Michael, Elton John — so many artists," she told a visibly emotional audience.

P!nk then used her own experience in the music industry to remind her daughter that she refused to succumb to criticism over her image.

"I said to her, “Do you see me growing my hair?” She said, “No mama.” I said, “Do you see me changing my body?” “No, mama.” “Do you see me changing the way I present myself to the world?” “No, mama."

And then the kicker.

“Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?” “Yes, mama.” P!nk said as applause rang out through the crowd.

P!nk's speech has, unsurprisingly, had Twitter users in a heap, as they went online and paid tribute to the the singer's heartfelt tibute to her daughter.

Ellen De Generes, who presented the singer with the award, took to Twitter in the aftermath, writing: "Congratulations on your Vanguard Award. From now on I’m gonna spell my name El!en. I love u."

Oh, and in case you missed it, here it is…

So, there comes a certain point in every working day when emails are piling up, deadlines are getting closer, and you've just remembered that dress you saw on ASOS the other day and decide that now is the perfect time to make the purchase.

It'll only take five minutes, and you didn't leave for lunch until 1.03 today, so it's totally fine, right?

Well, it turns out that using the internet for personal reasons during work hours could actually be detrimental for your career goals.

A new study published in The Journal of Psychosocial Research on Cyberspace, claims that 'cyberloafing' is associated with a number of 'dark' personality traits.

Yikes.

In the study, researchers looked at how internet consumption affected the participants behaviour and found that checking news websites and online shopping were the greatest hindrances to an employee's productivity.

What's more, the report also claimed that those who regularly engage in 'cyberloafing' are more likey to be manipulative, socially exploitive and narcissistic.

Speaking to Stylist magazine, career coach, Evelyn Cotter, said 'cyberloafing' is “an attempt to replace something that we're lacking, but we never get that 'filled-up' feeling.”

She also said that since the intertnet plays a huge role in many modern jobs, employees are more likely to give into temptation, and in turn, are more likely to suffer the career-damaging consequences.

So, next time you feel like taking a little break, grab a coffee and save the online shopping for home time instead.

If J.K Rowling has taught us anything during her reign as the undisputed queen of Twitter, it's that she has absolutely no time for negative comments.

Regardless of whether or not they have been directed at her, the Harry Potter author has no problem shutting down any sexist, racist or generally ignorant tweets that make it onto her radar.

In her latest attempt to rid the internet of negativity and uneducated statements, J.K scolded one Islamophobic user for his outrageous comment.

The authors response quickly went viral and haa garnered over 70,000 likes so far.

Her followers then decided to get in on the action and began tweeting some very interesting 'facts' of there own.

Meanwhile, the adaptation of J.K Rowling's crime books, written under pseudonym Robert Galbraith, will debut on BBC this evening.

Stike tells the story of private investigator, Cormoran Strike, who is hired to to determine whether a fashion model who fell from the window of her apartment did so by her own choice, or if foul-play was involved.

The mini-series is said to follow the book very closely, and even if you are yet to books, Strike will surely excite any J.K Rowling fan.

Strike – The Cuckoo's Calling airs on BBC One tonight at 21:05.

'Be whoever makes you happy' – that's the message tattoo artist, Baz Black, hope viewers will take form his latest YouTube sketch, Office Workers Shocking Transformation.

The video shows the Dundalk native as a clean cut officer worker who is unhappy and under-appreciated at work.

After a less than pleasant meeting with his boss, Baz then returns home where he begins to cut his hair before rubbing off his full-body make-up to reveal a seriously impressive collection of tattoos and piercings.

Instantly happier with his new appearance, Baz then heads to a club where he performs as a drummer in a band as his boss watches from the crowd.

And well, you check out the clip for yourself to see what happens next:

We have to admit, the make-up definitely has us fooled – the wig on the other hand may need a little work (sorry Baz!).

The aim of the short sketch was to encourage people to do whatever makes them happy, regardless of what anyone thinks, because at the end of the day, the only opinion that matters whe it comes to your appearance, is your own.

"'Be Whoever Makes You Happy' In a world full of JUDGEMENT I hope you can find some inspiration in this short video, " the description reads.

The video, uploaded on Thursday, has racked up over 7,000 views so far, and honestly, it's not hard to see why.

Baz promises more videos in the future so be sure to check out his YouTube and Facebook pages to keep up to date.

Joseph Kann, the director of the music video for Taylor Swift's new single, Look What You Made Me Do, has denied claims that he copied the imagery in Beyoncé's Formation.

Following the single's release on Thursday night, a teaser clip was dropped for the upcoming video.

Beyoncé fans were quick to point out some comparisons between the visuals for the two videos, and many took to Twitter to share the similarities, with some even accusing Taylor of cultural appropriation.

Last night, Joseph addressed the accusations in a tweet writing that he has much “love and respect for Bey”, though Taylor's new video is “not in her art space.”

Joseph has previously worked with Beyoncé during the Destiny's Child era as director of the Say My Name and Jumpin' Jumpin videos. He has also worked with Taylor on a number of projects including the videos for Bad Blood, Blank Space, Wildest Dreams and Out Of The Woods.

Look What You Made Me Do is the first single from Taylor's sixth studio album, Reputation, which is set to be released on November 10.
