A colobus monkey who escaped from Fota Wildlife Park earlier this week has been safely returned to the facility.

The monkey, who goes by the name Cheeky Chops, returned to the Fota Wildlife car park, where he was found chilling in a tree outside.

After some careful coaxing with his favourite snacks, handlers were able to safely get him down from the tree and back into the sanctuary.

Trained rangers were dispatched to find and detain the roaming primate during the week, and a huge search was underway in Cork.

'Cheeky Chops has now been safely reunited with the other three members of his bachelor group, who welcomed him back with lots of grooming,' Roisin Fitzgerald, Marketing Manager at Fota Wildlife Park, told The Irish Times.

It is believed that he may have spent one night of his adventure sleeping in a public toilet.

Cheeky Chops had been spotted around Cork by a number of perplexed members of the public.

Andy Hemming, Press advisor and Director of Rapid Response for Donald Trump, has stepped down from his role.

And what was that role exactly? Well, to find positive news about the POTUS.

Mr Hemming was tasked with searching for positive news about the President, and then distributing it out to other news sites to promote the POTUS in a good light.

It was a 'mutual decision that he could best help promote the president’s agenda on the outside,' Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Politico.

'Andy is smart and very talented and we wish him all the best.'

It is not hugely surprising, due to the intense level of mistrust Mr Trump has voiced against the free press during his presidency and campaign trail.

Regularly referring to journalists as 'bad people' and the press in general as fake news, Mr Trump has encouraged his supporters not to believe the news as is reported from mainstream media outlets.

Hurricane Harvey slammed into the US State of Texas at around 3am last night.

The storm, a Catagory 4 weather phenomenon, has already caused structural damage to a number of buildings due to the force of it's winds, which are reaching over 200km per hour.

It is the most powerful storm recorded in the US in over ten years.

Harvey is expected to bring up to three feet of rain, which is expected to cause major flooding in the region.

According to weather.com, 'dangerous storm-surge flooding, damaging winds and a couple tornadoes are also threats.'

It has also cut power to a number of areas by knocking down power lines.

POTUS Donald Trump has signed a disaster order for Texas, making help available to those who may need it during this time.

If you have yet to scroll through Siobhan O’Hagan’s social media offerings, you’re one of very, very few.

With more than 90,000 followers on Instagram alone, the Dubliner is considered a key player on the Irish health and fitness scene, but with so many #FitFammers jostling for attention, what is it about Siobhan that stands out?

Well, having left her office job in order to spend ‘all day in the gym’, Siobhan’s career trajectory took an unexpected turn, and as the brains (and brawn) behind a now booming online business which includes OH Fitness Factory and OH Fitness Furnace, the former 9 to 5’er has proven an inspiration to tens of thousands.

We sat down with Siobhan for our Ladies Who Launch series to discuss the peaks and pitfalls of stepping out on your own.

I really need to find some motivation to push through these last few weeks… my sessions are just 'meh' these days…. 3.5 weeks out

A post shared by Siobhan O'Hagan – OHFitness.ie (@ohfitness_ie) on

Having graduated with a degree in Maths, Siobhan began her career in a small company and ultimately worked her way into a role at huge multinational PLC, but soon realised that she expected more out of her career.

“After a year of working really hard and crazy hours, I was given a bonus, and that was the point I reaIised I was miserable, and that money would not solve anything,” Siobhan reveals.

“I was so lost at that point. I didn’t know what else I could do with my degree,” she adds.

It was at this point that an acquaintance asked Siobhan what she’d like to do all day, and that’s when she realised she was hungry to pursue a career in fitness, saying: “I started looking up personal training courses and I couldn’t find anything that suited the crazy hours I was working.”

Dismayed, Siobhan confided in a former colleague, and a stroke of luck meant she was offered a contract role with her previous company.

“That was the scary part,” she says. “It felt like one step back in the hope of two steps forward, but it meant I was back to 9-5 and it gave me time to start building my next career outside my working hours.”

A post shared by Siobhan O'Hagan – OHFitness.ie (@ohfitness_ie) on

As any self-starter will attest, time is of the essence in these instances.

“I would get up at 5am every day to train in the gym before getting the bus into town and working 9-5.  Admittedly, I had started my Instagram account, and was probably spending too many working hours on it!”

“I would usually go get a coffee after work and study before going into my evening PT course. I would get home about 10pm, prep my food, and pack my bags for all my outfit changes and do it all again the next day.”

“I was permanently exhausted, but I didn’t want to let anything slip because I knew I had to be my own advertisement,” Siobhan says.

After qualifying as a personal trainer, Siobhan found a huge amount of pleasure in helping people achieve their goals.

“I loved talking to people, I loved seeing them progress and I loved sharing the message that eating well and heavy weight training can transform your body.”

“I was booked and making more money than I knew what to do with,” Siobhan continues. “But then I really panicked.”

While having worked tirelessly during her career change, Siobhan still struggled to balance her time even after establishing herself as a trainer, and ultimately feared she had made a mistake.

“I was working usually from 6am to 12pm, then back in about 3pm to 1o pm every day. I was trying to train, answer emails, sleep and there was just not enough hours in the day. I was anxious trying to keep up with everything, and I started doubting my decision.”

Design a life you love. I love Mondays#OhFitnessMindsetMastery

A post shared by Siobhan O'Hagan – OHFitness.ie (@ohfitness_ie) on

Siobhan realised that in order to prosper in her career, she would need to identify personal ,as well as professional, goals.

“I realised, a bit selfishly, that my life goals were not to be standing beside somebody counting reps, it was my own freedom and happiness,” she reveals.

“I then decided to start focusing on online coaching. I cut down my PT hours, and developed an online coaching system that meant I was able to help more people while still keeping up a few hours in the gym training people one-on-one.”

With the help of a former college friend, Siobhan established the Oh Fitness Factory, Oh Fitness Furnace and the Oh Fitness Mindset Mastery.

While initially hesitant, Siobhan says: “We just threw ourselves in the deep end, and it was a great success.”

“It was intense getting everything set up but the hard work is done now. Business is booming while I have more free time to day to day. I feel like I have finally nailed it.”

And with a stellar business under her belt and an online persona the envy of countless budding trainers, it’s no surprise Siobhan feels like she’s nailed it, but does admit that there are downsides to everything,

“I have to say my life is pretty sweet right now, but if I was to nitpick I would say it is tough having eyes on you at all the time.”

Incredibly likeable and down to earth, Siobhan is under no illusion that her life and career hasn’t registered on everybody’s radar, but with hundreds of thousands of followers, she is certainly under some scrutiny.

“I know people probably don’t care that much about me, but I feel like I am being judged on everything I say and do. If I say or do anything that isn’t politically correct, I could get loads of messages of abuse. I feel like I have to be perfect all the time (which I never am).”

Since creating her own brand and business, Siobhan has been exposed to the attitudes of others, saying:  ”I’ve learnt that you can’t control other people’s mindset. Those that are in a good headspace will wish you well and there will be people you cannot please.”

Easily one of the most genuine, humble and relatable social influencers on the scene right now, Siobhan admits that the moniker itself doesn’t even sit that well with her.

“One thing I never really planned for was to be a social media influencer. I’m not even a fan of the word, but I realised that I am always my own advertisement and now I feel like I am living in my own little reality TV show.”

“It is great fun, and I get so much amazing feedback, but sometimes I would just like to switch off, be anonymous and go the chipper!”

A girl after our own hearts.

Heading back to college can be a pretty testing time for the old bank balance.

Luckily, there are a few money saving hacks students can tap into to make the most of what can already be an overstretched budget.

KBC has a few tips for new or returning students, who need a little advice when it comes to managing their finances.

1. Get tech savvy

Download one of the many free budgeting apps to see exactly where your money goes, and remember to include any cashback or debit card spending.

2. Separate essentials from fun money

If you get financial support for bigger items like fees and accommodation, put this money into a separate account so that you’re not tempted to use it for day-to-day expenses.

That way, you know it’s there when you really need it.

3. Go on campus for unexpected expenses

Check out on-campus services for unexpected expenses like a doctor’s appointment or broken laptop.

Student IT labs and other college services are a great place to start for student-friendly rates.

4. Make the most of the student discount

Many cafes, cinemas, clothes and books shops offer student discounts, so always ask. Every 10% discount adds up.

If you join a society, many of the society membership cards can have additional discount bonuses.

5. Transportation costs add up

Invest in a bike – it’s a healthy way to get around quickly and could save money in the long-run on other transport options.

Otherwise, make sure you get a student Leap card.

As digital natives, sometimes the easiest way to pay for things can be through our smart phones. KBC’s Student Account offers a host of digital features including free contactless payments and Apple Pay or Android Pay.

It also offers free day to day banking, which means no account maintenance or transaction fees to worry about, and gives students the chance to receive €100 when they open a current account with KBC Bank Ireland.

Not too shabby if we do say so ourselves.

The €100 cash-back offer works by giving student customers €10 on account opening and the remaining €90 when the student makes at least 10 debit card transactions and registers for online/mobile banking.

If only we still qualified for a student account…

Taylor Swift is officially back after taking a social media sabbatical by deleting all of her accounts.

Taylor has been leaking some mysterious videos on her empty pages, featuring snakes.

In case you have been living under a celeb-repelling rock, it is believed that the snakes are a homage to Kim Kardashian's previous emoji comment last year.

Since leaking the videos, Taylor, has actually launched a brand new single, Look What You Made Me Do, which she revealed she will be performing at the VMAs this coming Sunday.

In the clip she leaked about the VMAs, Taylor can be seen on a throne of snakes and dressed in reptile-inspired couture.

She also dons an intricate snake ring, which fans have become obsessed with. Never one to leave her fans wanting for much, Taylor is now selling the rings on her online store, and they're actually not too pricey for a piece of celeb bling at sixty quid.

Taylor is clearly taking back control of the narrative and reclaiming the snake symbol, an emoji which was used as a massive insult towards her last year.

While it definitely looks like it's a directed dig at Kim K, at least Taylor is taking a stand for herself.

It is no secret that we love a good G&T here at SHEmazing HQ, and our penchant for unicorns probably hasn't gone unnoticed either.

So imagine our delight when we discovered that there is a unicorn gin out there in the world.

Unicorn Tears Gin Liqueur combines two of our favourite things, and we need it in our lives.

Pic: Firebox

The pretty pastel bottle has an added extra we can't get enough of – iridescent sparkles distilled in with the gin.

So as well as just having adorable packaging, the gin itself has hints of unicorn magic to it.

Described as a sweeter gin, it has notes of juniper (duh), candied orange and herbs.

A post shared by Firebox.com (@firebox) on

'Citrusy on the nose, the palate is luscious and flavoursome with an indulgent sweetness and flavours of candied orange, herbs and spice,' reads the notes description.

You can purchase the mythical substance from Firebox (though they don't ship to Ireland, so you may need to Parcel Motel it over) or from Harvey Nichols.

We'll be taking ten bottles, thanks.

Gardaí in Ballymun investigating the murders of Antoinette Corbally and Clinton Shannon at Balbuthcher Drive are appealing for information on the vehicles used in the crime.

'I wish to take this opportunity to thank members of the public in particular the Ballymun community for their assistance to date in this investigation,' said Detective Superintendent Colm Fox, Senior Investigating Officer.

'We have had an excellent response to our last appeal for information which is greatly assisting the investigation.'

'I am  endeavouring to establish  the prior whereabouts of two vehicles used in the commission of the murders of Antoinette Corbally and Clinton Shannon at Balbutcher Drive on the 16th of August 2017.'

According to a Garda statement, the first of these cars is a silver Opel Zafira registration number 08 LS 3101.

Prior to the murders, this car was parked beside a building site at the junction of Balbutcher Lane and Balbutcher Drive, Ballymun for at least an hour.

From this vantage point the occupants  had a clear view of the location where the murders took place.

The second car, a black golf registration number 06-LH-3466, was used as the getaway car after the culprits abandoned the Opel Zafira.

It travelled across Ballymun in the direction of Ikea, on through the Northwood business, retail and housing development and on into Santry Close where it was set on fire.

'These cars were purchased in the weeks preceding the murders and had to have been parked up somewhere. I am asking members of the public to contact us if indeed they did see these cars parked up anywhere or even similar type cars,' aid Detective Superintendent Colm Fox.

'Parking spaces in apartment complexes, housing estates, and other parking areas are at a premium.'

'Was your parking spot or a neighbours blocked by either of these cars or similar cars or indeed any car for any length of time? Any information you may have, no matter how insignificant it might seem to be to you, could be very important to the investigation.'

If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station on 01-6664400, the Garda Confidential line on 1800666111, or E-Mail: Ballymun_Incident_Room@garda.ie.

Alternatively, they can simply contact any Garda station.

Last month, The Sunday Independent revealed that RTÉ news presenter Sharon Ní Bheoláin earns €60,000 – €80,000 less than her male co-anchor Bryan Dobson.

This led to a major debate about the gender pay gap in Ireland.

RTÉ published a list of its highest earning presenters, of which only three were women.

Ryan Tubridy, the highest earning presenter and number one on the list, has weighed in on the issue:

'In every field of life, whether it’s the workplace, home, finance, that gap has to be closed,' he said, according to The Irish Times

'Whatever is broken, needs to be fixed. There’s no question for me and it’s very obvious, there shouldn't be a disparity.'

'I’ve got two daughters, two sisters and a mother that I love.'

'My feeling would be that on anything to do with gender and disparity and any gap, in that regard, needs to be closed. It’s as simple as that.'

According to Met Éireann, a heavy spell of rain is in store for us this weekend.

A status yellow weather warning is in place over much of the country as the national forecaster predicts heavy rain showers into tonight.

'Showers, some heavy and prolonged affecting parts of Ulster, Connacht and north Leinster today with the risk of an isolated thunderstorm in Ulster this afternoon,' Met Éireann has warned.

'Lengthy dry periods elsewhere with some sunny spells and just a few passing showers.'

As for Electric Picnic next weekend, the outlook remains mixed according to Met Éireann.

'Outlook is for rather mixed weather to continue, there will be some dry bright periods, but showers or spells of rain at times also.'

So bring that rain poncho…
