In a post which has amassed more than a quarter of a million likes in mere minutes, Selena Gomez has revealed she recently underwent a kidney transplant.

The Same Old Love singer reached out to her fans after acknowledging that she had been less active on social media in recent months than they had come to expect.

“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of,” she began.

Alongside a photo she uploaded of herself in a hospital bed, the 25-year-old continued: “So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health.”

I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made. Selena explained that her kidney donor came in the shape of her dear friend Francia Raisa, who is pictured in the poignant photograph with Selena.

Paying tribute to Francia, Selena wrote: “And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa.”

“She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made.”

Selena's fans and followers have been quick to respond to the singer's post, and wished her well in the recovery process.

Goodbye summer, we hardly knew you! 

As the days get shorter (and colder), we can't help but be kind of excited about the chillier months to come.

According to emerging reports. Allied Irish Bank are in the process of contacting approximately 500 customers in Galway following the disappearance, and subsequent recovery, of customer-related documentation.

It is understood that the bag containing the documents was handed into a branch of AIB in Galway this week when the significance of its contents was established.

In a statement which was released to RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, AIB confirmed that the documents had been recovered, and that those affected have been contacted by the bank.

"The mislaid documentation was located on the evening of the 12th September when a business owner in Galway contacted AIB to inform us the documentation was handed in to his premises on the day it was mislaid. All information has been retrieved.

"The Data Protection Commissioner has been informed. Customer contact commenced yesterday and is well advanced."

It would seem as though every week we are faced with a new (and amazing) product offering from the wonderful world of Penneys.

We are in their debt for all the Disney greatness they've been providing recently – and it has not stopped.

We can happily confirm that Penneys are now selling fully functional Mrs Potts teapots, and we couldn't be happier.

The porcelain teapot, which costs €10, is part of their new Beauty And The Beast homeware collection, and is expected to be in high demand (we all remember Chip mug gate, right?)

Facebook user, Miss Ellamay, discovered the beautiful teapot in Swords yesterday, so we know it is officially on the SHELVES.

Ten people including eight children have been rushed to hospital after a road accident this morning.

The crash involved a van and a school bus in Carrickmore in St Johnston, Co Donegal.

The accident happened just after 8.15am. 

Eight children have been taken to hospital, along with the driver of the van and the school bus. 

None of those injured are understood to be seriously hurt.

'A total of eight children and two drivers have been taken to hospital but thankfully none of the injuries are serious,' Garda Inspector Michael Harrison told The Mirror.

'This accident could have been much worse and we are now investigating the cause of this accident.'

The school bus was making it's way to school at the time with up to 20 children on board.

Designer it bags come and go, but there are always a few which stand out among the rest.

This season, our Instagram feeds have ben awash with a certain few designer bags, and we've been waiting for the high street to catch up.

One of the biggest bags of the season has to be the Chloé Nile bracelet bag, which we spotted on every it-blogger and industry insider this summer. 

There have been many dupes of this bag, taking inspo from the distinctive ring detail, but Penneys have just dropped their own version. 

Top Irish Instagrammer Lisa Jordan first brought the epic bracelet bags to our attention thanks to her snap of the bags.

Penneys version comes in cream with rose gold hardwear, or blue with gold hardwear. 

The bag goes for €8.00, a complete steal anyway, but when you consider that the Nile retails for upwards of €12900.00 it's pretty much bargain of the century. 

Upcoming influencer Emma Kehoe also added a snap to her Insta stories, showing a pretty depleted stand of the bags, so if you want one you better get in quick!

Gucci Marmont €1,300.00, Penneys velvet cross body €12.00

While the bracelet bag is a bit of a statement, nothing says subtle style like a swathe of black velvet. 

Gucci has been having a major moment, and the Marmont is one of the luxury house's most popular styles. 

Penneys have rolled out a gorgeous black velvet cross body that could easily satiate our Gucci cravings until we find a way to gather up €1,300.00 for the real deal. 

Although tbh these dupes are such pretty stand alone pieces, we might actually prefer them…

Over the course of the last 12 months, the nationwide campaign to repeal the 8th amendment has intensified massively.

From TwoWomenTravel, a Twitter thread documenting two Irish women's journey to the UK to seek abortions, to We Face This Land, a short film highlighting the similarity between archaic laws of the past and the State's current reluctance to give Irish women ownership over their own bodies, Irish women are fighting to be heard.

And over the course of the last year, we watched thousands turn out for the 5th annual March for Choice on September 24.

We saw Dublin City Council pass an emergency motion to support the Strike 4 Repeal without debate.

We bore witness to thousands of men and women who marked International Women’s Day on Wednesday March 8 by protesting the nation’s 8th amendment.

On April 23, the Citizens’ Assembly voted to allow for abortion in all 13 circumstances; the same day that The Repeal Project released a short film which poignantly captured the emotions of those involved in the tireless fight against the 8th amendment.

With these monumental moments among many, many others punctuating the last 12 months in Ireland, we would like to know what the Repeal the 8th campaign means to you.

Gardaí can confirm that one man has died following a house fire on Grove Road, Rathmines Dublin 6.

The fire was reported to emergency services at approximately 8am this morning.

Three people were taken to St James' Hospital from the scene and one man was subsequently pronounced dead.

While Gardaí have no further details on the deceased at this time, they can confirm that the other two people remain in hospital and are understood not to be seriously injured.

Grove Road remains closed and diversions are in place in the area.

Mere months after Kendall and Kylie came under fire for their controversial T-shirt designs featuring images of deceased rap icons, the pair are facing backlash over another of their designs.

Kendall + Kylie A/W has just landed, and among the camo-print tops and deconstructed denim is a striking novelty bag. 

The bag is shaped like a Chinese takeout carton with the slogan 'KK express' across it.

The name of the bag? The Lee Leather Clutch, which some outlets are calling out for cultural stereotyping. 

As well as facing accusations of cultural appropriation with the bag, the youngest Kardashian clan members now need to explain exactly where they got the idea for it. 

Social media users in their droves are pointing out that the problematic bag looks strikingly similar to a Kate Spade piece already in existence. 

The bag was  first seen on the Kate Spade runway back in 2014, after the designer Deborah Lloyd took inspiration from her travels in Shanghai and Tokyo for the collection. 

However despite the controversy, the bag is sold out.  

It seems like Kendall and Kylie can't design a full collection without making a mis step.
