When Zayn Malik made the decision to leave One Direction back in 2015, fans were stunned that the Bradford-native would choose to turn his back on the biggest boyband in the world.

And while the singer insisted that he simply felt his time with the band had come to an end and a solo career beckoned, rumours have circulated in recent years that all was not well in the 1D camp in the months leading up to Zayn's departure.

Indeed, Louis Tomlinson recently revealed that his late mother had encouraged him to rebuild his friendship with Zayn following his shock departure, saying: "I can’t stand to hold a grudge with anyone. It doesn’t sit with me right."

"I would always see the good in Zayn and also watch him shoot himself in the foot with some of his decisions, but he’s just a little misunderstood," Louis added at the time.

However, it doesn't seem like Zayn shared the same friendship with other members of the group, telling Us Weekly that he didn't expect to see much of Harry after leaving the group.

Speaking of his former bandmates, he said: "We're in touch. Everything is on a civil level."

"It's not the way it used to be, obviously, because we were spending 24 hours a day in the band and now we're growing as individual men, but we still check in."

The 24-year-old singer then turned his attention to Harry, revealing: "To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band. So I didn't really expect that much of a relationship with him."

We wonder what Harry would say about this one…

Aaaaaand we're dead.

Nearly four years after iconic actor Paul Walker was killed in a tragic car accident, his daughter is paying homage to him on his birthday.

Meadow Walker shared a throwback image on Instagram, showing her and her Dad enjoying a childhood moment.

While the picture is stunning, it was her caption that really got us.

'In honor of my dad's birthday today, we're challenging you to DO GOOD!' she said.

'Share a video or photo of your random act of kindness and nominate 4 people to join the challenge!'

'Be sure to tag the foundation as well as hashtag #PWFdogoodchallenge, so we can check out all of your posts.'

The wait for tens of thousands of students all over the country anticipating their Junior Cert results is drawing to a close.

Today, 62,000 students will receive their results from their first set of State Examinations.

Most students will receive a copy of their results this afternoon.

This is the first year that a new method of assessment is being measured in the Junior Cycle.

The new Framework for Junior Cycle has been applied to English this year.

There will no longer be the typical alphanumeric grading system of A, B or C, students will instead receive a grade descriptor such as Distinction on Merit.

This mark will be a combination of continuous assessments throughout the school year and a written exam.

Four students will be receiving 12 As today.

As the controversy surrounding George Hook continues to intensify, Pat Kenny has appeared to defend his colleague, by insisting the rugby pundit is genuinely contrite.

"I listened to his apology and he meant it, he is genuinely contrite. He is devastated by this. He realises what he said didn't come out right and accepts that some people were hurt," Kenny reasoned.

While insisting he wasn't defending the comments made by Hook, Pat argued that they were not a fair reflection of the radio host.

"The comments are not reflective of him. He is a decent man with children and was musing over a topic," Pat argued.

"He has entertained people for 13 years and it would be sad that people would take his mis-speaking on the radio as the real representation of George the man."

Earlier this week, while appearing on The Hard Shoulder with Ivan Yates, Irish singer, Mary Coughlan, protested against Yates' colleague by walking out of the interview.

The folk singer was being interviewed by Ivan about her upcoming tour when she chose to cut the interview short in response to Hook's recent remarks about rape.

The 61-year-old singer told Ivan that her decision to suspend the interview was nothing personal, but a response to his Newstalk colleague's controversial comments.

Commenting on her decision to terminate her appearance on the show, Mary told The Independent insisted the veteran broadcaster should be dismissed by the station.

"This isn’t the first time Hook has made comments such as these. The comments have absolutely no respect for the victims of abuse in this country."

"His comments were completely disparaging and there are even some comments in his book which I find similar,” she said. "He should be fired for God’s sake."

Yesterday it was reported that up to 20 members of Newstalk staff have drafted a letter of protest and are calling for him to be taken off air, though it's believed it was not formally handed to management.

The highly-anticipated iPhone X has finally been unveiled, though we doubt any of us will have one in our back pocket anytime soon.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, revealed the design at the Steve Jobs Theatre in California today, along with the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

The futuristic piece of tech has lived up to the hype and looks set to feature a whole host of sophisticated technology including face recognition, no home button and a full-screen interface.

The iPhone X will set customers back a whopping €1,179 – €1,349, making it the most expensive iPhone ever created.

And it's not looking much better for the iPhone 8.

The starting price for the standard model is €829, while the Plus starts at €939 – but they do come in some funky new colours, so you know, silver linings and all that.

The new range is available to pre-order on September 15 and will be available to purchase from September 22 .

Meaning that by our calculations, you'll want to start saving sometime around March 2014.

Tissues at the ready – Titanic The Musical is about to set sail to Irish shores.

The Tony award winning musical will take over Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy theatre for five nights next May (Tuesday 15 – Saturday 19), and judging by its glowing reviews, this is one show not to be missed.

The musical is based on real passengers onboard one of the world's most legendary ships, focussing on their lost hopes and aspirations.

The RMS Titanic sank on April 14, 1912, after it collided with an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York.

1517 people lost their lives, and to this day, it remains one of the most tragic disasters the world has ever seen.

Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster on Friday September 15th 9.00am and are priced between €26.00 – €51.00.

Every couple likes to put their own little touch on that special day. After all, most ceremonies follow the same old routine and the whole event can seem a little, dare we say, monotonous.

The white dress, the round tables, the first dance – it's nothing we haven't seen before.

Not to say these things aren't lovingly planned and perfectly executed, but wouldn't it be interesting if we mixed up the old formula every once in a while?

Enter Paige Kirk.

Determined to re-write the rules of wedding norms, the Australian bride opted for a rather untraditional bouquet for her and her bridal party.

While most brides choose to walk down the aisle with a bunch of roses or peonies in hand, Paige chose something much sweeter – a bunch of delicious white glazed doughnuts.

The unique bouquets where supplied by the good folk from Sydney based Dessert Boxes, and they were even on hand to capture the moment Paige surprised her bridesmaids.

The moment that the Bride told the bridesmaids that they'll be walking down the aisle with donut bouquets!

But perhaps the most baffling part of this whole story – not one single doughnut was consumed during the ceremony.

Speaking to the BBC, Paige said: "We had plenty of goodies beforehand so we were too full too eat them."

Now, that's what we call willpower.

In an age when Brexit doom and gloom is slapped across every broadsheet and news station, it's nice to know there are people out there who know how to make light of the situation.

Sure we could sit back and watch as Theresa May and Leo Varadkar argue about economics and borders, or, like one Grindr user did, we could use the political jargon to get ourselves a date.

London based actor, James Walker-Black, was recently trying his luck in the world of online dating when he received what is quite possibly the most pun-tastic opening message ever sent.

And of course, living in a world that thrives on social media, James had to share it with the twittersphere.

Incredible.

As expected, Twitter absolutely loved his creativity and called for James to marry this man immediately.

So, did James and this mysterious pun enthusiast ever meet?

Unfortunately not. According to The Irish Examiner, his response was not met with the same praise.

“It may have been because I said ‘I might take you up on that offer’ and really should have made some sort of EU pun,” the 26-year-old said.

“But I’d had like three bottles of wine at that point so wasn’t particularly feeling witty.”

Hey, you win some, you lose some – at least we got a giggle out of it!

An internal investigation has been launched following controversial comments made by radio presenter, George Hook, regarding the rape case of a 19-year-old woman in the UK.

It's been reported that up to 20 members of Newstalk staff have drafted a letter of protest and are calling for  him to be taken off air, though it's believed it was not formally handed to management.

During a live discussion, the presenter suggested that women who drink to excess leave themselves vulnerable to sexual assault, and should ultimately shoulder some responsibility if they come to harm.

The highly insensitive remarks sparked outrage among listeners and women's groups, including the National Womens Council of Ireland.

The news comes after The Dalata Hotel group pulled it's sponsorship from Hook's High Noon programme.

A spokesman for Newstalk has said that a process to respond to the situation is ongoing.

So, we all know the secret to a hangover-free Sunday morning is actually pretty simple – H20, and lots of it.

And while the responsible adult in us knows this to be true, the irresponsible wine-lover can be a bit forgetful.

But, as always, the technological gods are here to lend a helping hand.

Hydrate Now, a new iPhone app developed by 23-year-old, Jacob Catalona, encourages users to up their aqua intake when out on the town, and while there are numerous hydration apps on the market, none have been designed specifically for hangover prevention.

So, how does it work?

Once the party has started, users simply need to tap the home screen and select how much water they would like to drink over the course of the evening.

The app will send out constant hydration reminders (depending on the frequency you have chosen), thus curing your hangover before it even begins.

Users can chose to be notified from anywhere between every 20 and 100 minutes with messages like “HAVE A GODDAM GLASS OF WATER,” or “Drink water plz” – though it's up to you to actually take the advice.

And while the only real way to prevent a hangover is to abstain from alcohol altogether, we'll know we'll be thankful for this the next time we have a few too many.
