While fans of Taylor Swift may have had mixed reactions to her latest material, it looks like road safety authorities in the US have found a pretty interesting way of using her lyrics to promote safe driving.

The Iowa Department of Transport has cleverly adapted a line from Taylor's Look What You Made Me Do as part of its “zero fatalities” campaign, which encourages road user to put down their phones while driving.

Overhead signs now read: "I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now.. she's driving.”

A spin on the original lyric: "I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now.. Why? 'Cos she's dead."

Iowa road signs for the WIN.

With a new theme rolled out every week, drivers are encouraged to send in safety messages to appear on the state's 70 overhead boards.

According BBC Newsbeat, the messages must be short and sweet in order to catch drivers' attention, and must not exceed 18 characters.

And this isn't the first time road users got creative with their submissions.

Last year's Pokemon Go craze was also used to highlight the high number of road fatalities, while Star Wars references were all the rage in 2015.

Hands up who would love to see these on the M50!

Fancy a stint on TV? Well, your time has officially come… as long as you can drive, that is.

As part of an exciting new RTÉ series, Oddboy Media are looking for motorists to take part in a number of day-long driving track tests in an effort to see how your driving ability is affected when faced with various different factors.

Elaborating on the launch, Oddboy Media have said: “We are looking for people from all adult age groups, a mix of men and women and from all parts of the country,”

Oh, and if you think those pesky penalty points will exclude you from taking part, fear not!

“We are particularly interested in meeting people with a less than perfect driving history, be it penalty points for speeding, mobile phone use, drink driving, etc,” they added.

“Our only condition is you must have a valid full Irish driver licence and are willing to take part.”

So if you want in, simply email your name, contact info, a recent photo and a brief paragraph on your driving history to this address.

Ladies, it’s over to you.

Tragically, it's becoming more and more routine for late-night chat show show hosts to open their programmes with their thoughts on the latest mass shooting to take place on US soil.

Ostensibly, hosts like Conan O'Brien, James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel are hired to front lighthearted late-night chat shows, but viewers now expect a few words from the presenters when incidents like Saturday night's shooting in Las Vegas occur.

Acknowledging this, a visibly emotional Jimmy Kimmel opened his show with a tribute to the people who lost their lives when gunman, Stephen Paddock, opened fire from a hotel room on the Las Vegas strip over the weekend.

"Here we are again in the aftermath of another terrible, inexplicable, shocking and painful tragedy. This time in Las Vegas, which happens to be my home town, Cleeto's home town and Cleeto Snr's home town," he began, choking back tears.

Clearly struggling to understand the motivation behind such an atrocity, Jimmy broke down several times as he made reference to the various people who lost their lives while attending a country music festival in the famous city.

"It's the kind of thing that makes you want to throw up or give up. It's too much to even process," he told viewers before taking aim at the politicians who refuse to address gun control in the United States.

YouTubers responded to Jimmy's devastation, with one social media user writing: "Respect to Jimmy for using his platform to speak some truth."

"Jimmy, thank you for standing up and saying what needs to be said. You are an inspiration," added another.

Take a look at this.

In a bid to combat anti-social behaviour on the capital's Luas lines, Transdev have launched a text service which allows passengers to report incidents of that nature.

Commuters on Dublin's light rail tram system are encouraged to text their location and message along with the keyword 'LUAS' to 51444 if they witness antisocial behaviour.

The message, which can be 155 characters in length, will be responded to within 90 seconds in order to reassure the sender that the message has been met by Luas staff.

Commenting on the launch, Dervla Brophy, communications manager at Transdev, says that the new service will be welcomed by Luas users.

"Luas is a safe, punctual and reliable tram service which Dublin has come to love, but we are always aiming to improve passenger satisfaction with the service."

"Passengers have mentioned that a simple, discreet way to inform Luas of people misbehaving would be a good idea," she added. "This pilot we hope will inform us about customer feelings and assist us with our response".

Echoing this, Anne Graham CEO of National Transport Authority, highlighted the benefits of the launch.

"This new service means that Luas staff can be made aware of these incidents and can respond to them quicker than ever, so that journeys can be even safer and more pleasant for everybody."

We've all been there – late night, too many snoozes, barely catch the bus, no time to eat.

And while the notion that breakfast is the 'most important meal of the day' has been drilled into us from a young age, most of us choose to ignore this advice from time to time.

In fact, a recent Bord Bia study found that 13 per cent of Irish adults don't eat breakfast at all.

However, it look like our mothers may have been right all along, because new research has found a link between skipping breakfast and poor cardiovascular health.

For the study, researchers analysed the health of 4,052 middle aged men and women working in banks, all of whom had no previous history of cardiovascular disease.

Participants were asked to note everything they ate over a 15-day period, as well as their body mass index, cholesterol levels, smoking status, and level of physical activity.

Researchers then examined the build up of fatty material in the arteries around the heart and neck and found that those who skipped breakfast (or ate very little), had an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

What's more, this link held up even whether other factors such as smoking and high blood pressure were taken into account.

Researchers reckon this build up in fatty material is down to the fact that those who skip breakfast are more inclined to consume excess calories throughout the day.

So basically, no matter how busy you might be, skipping meals is never a good idea.

Don't have room for dinner and dessert? Why not combine the two?

Pastry chefs at Tella Balls Dessert, a Sydney café known for its glorious Nutella-filled creations, have just conjured up the ultimate lasagne-style dish.

Having originally found their niche in indulgent milkshakes, café owners, Aki Daikos and Simon Kappotos, say they enjoy exploring their culinary skills.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Aki said: “We love putting a spin on food and getting experimental in the kitchen, so we thought, why not create a savoury dish, sweet using Nutella.”

Unlike a traditional Italian lasagne, you won't find any pasta or tomatoes in this sweet dish.

Made up of layers of rich chocolate mousse and fresh cream, this decadent tower is served on top of a chocolate biscuit base and paired with lashings of tasty Nutella.

And the paste-esque dishes don't stop there.

'Pastaella' is a fettuccine-inspired style crepe served with milk and white chocolate sauce, and finished with a dollop of the house-made vanilla bean gelato.

“It’s all about great taste. Chocolate and Nutella are food for the soul,” Aki said.

Never a truer word said, Aki. So, who's up for a trip down under?

Police have recovered more than 18 guns, explosives and thousands of rounds of ammunition at Stephen Paddock's home and an additional 23 guns at his room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

The 64-year-old opened fire on crowds at a country music festival on the Las Vegas strip on Sunday night, before turning the gun on himself.

Sheriff Jospeph Lombardo confirmed that the death toll currently stands at 59, while a further 527 suffered injuries during the incident – making the attack the deadliest mass shooting in US history.

Investigators have not yet been able to identify a motive for the shooting.

Speaking yesterday, Paddock's brother described him as as a keen gambler who had no known political or religious agenda.

"He was a guy who had money. He went on cruises and gambled," he said.

"We are completely dumbfounded. We can't understand what happened."

The so-called Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, though its claims were later rejected by the FBI.

Paddock was not believed to have any militant connection, say Mr Lombardo.

"We have no idea what his belief system was," he said. "We've located numerous firearms within the room that he occupied."

Political leaders around the world have condemned the massacre, with US President, Donald Trump calling the incident “an act of pur evil.”

There have been no reports of any Irish victims, though anyone with concerns about relatives can contact the Department of Foreign Affairs' Consular Assistance Unit on 01-4082527.
