38 people have been injured after violence broke out during Catalonia's independence referendum.

Clashes occurred after police attempted to prevent the vote from taking place following a decision by Spain's constitutional court.

According to BBC News, witnesses say officers fired rubber bullets during pro-referendum protests in Barcelona.

Speaking to reporters, Catalan leader, Carles Puigdemont, condemned the action of police.

"The unjustified use of violence… by the Spanish state will not stop the will of the Catalan people."

In the town of Griona, where Mr Puigdemont was due to cast his vote, riot police forced their way into a polling station, in an attempt to forcibly remove anyone trying to cast a vote.

Catalonia is a territory in north-eastern Spain with its own language and culture and a population of approximately 7.5 million.

Many of its citizens wish for the region to become recognised as a separate nation, though Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, says the vote goes against the constitution.

Yesterday's March for Choice saw up to 30,000 people take to the streets of Dublin to fight for the right to free, safe and legal abortion in Ireland.

Pro-choice supporters from all over the country gathered at the Garden of Remembrance before marching on Dáil Éireann, in what was one of the biggest demonstrations of the Repeal campaign to date.

With a referendum in sight, yesterday's march was arguably one of the most significant to date – and the people of Ireland did not disappoint (nor did their creative signage).

Marilyn Manson has been rushed to hospital in New York City following an incident which saw a massive prop fall onto him during a performance.

The singer was about an hour into his set at Hammerstein Ballroom when the stage prop, which appeared to be made from heavy metal, toppled over.

According to the BBC, an eyewitness revealed that Marilyn laid on stage for up to 15 minutes before medical personnel carried him out on a stretcher.

The horrific moment was caught on video and uploaded to Twitter. In the footage we see members of the stage crew rush to help the injured performer.

A representative told Rolling Stone magazine: "Manson suffered an injury towards the end of his incredible NYC show. He is being treated at a local hospital."

His condition is not currently known.

Marilyn was just three dates into his current tour and was due to perform in Boston on Monday night – though it is not yet known when the tour will resume.

Much-loved stylist and TV star, Gok Wan, took to Instagram yesterday evening to share this thoughts on the 'lads' who felt it necessary to verbally abuse him while passing him in the airport.

In a succinct but poignant message to the men, Gok wrote: "Lads at the airport. When I walk past you and you mutter 'Queer Faggot', I hear you."

"I don't turn around and answer you because you are stupid," he continued. "I don't throw anything at you because I would be embarrassed. I don't even look at you because you are not worth my face."

Dickheads!

A post shared by Gok Wan (@therealgokwan) on

Taking the high road, Gok wished them well, before making reference to their upcoming trip with a reminder that they too may fall victim to verbal abuse at some point.

"I sincerely hope you don't get any abuse whilst you're away. Maybe for just looking a little different, maybe for not being a local… maybe for just being you."

And the clincher?

Gok finished the message with a sassy 'Bon Voyage D*ckheads."

The TV personality's page has been flooded with message of support since the upload, with one fan writing: "You're awesome and they're obviously bitter and insecure."

Another added: "Idiots! If they were to spread the love like you do, think of the joy they would bring instead of hatred."

Well said.

The vast majority of us, at some point, have returned home to find a note from a tradesman explaining why he was unable to complete a particular task.

Whether it was due to the fact he couldn't access your property or needed to source particular tools in which to complete the job, few of us are strangers to the ups and downs of getting work done in our home.

But if Twitter thought it had heard it all by now, it was sorely mistaken, after one social media user shared a note a maintenance person had left at her home.

Uploading a photo of the message, Elie revealed that the reason the work was incomplete was because – wait for  it-  'black cat said no'.

Clearly in knots over the discovery, Ellie wrote: "Guys, maintenance tried to visit my house today and only left this on the door I'm crying."

And she's not alone.

The post, which was uploaded just two days ago has amassed almost 40,000 likes, with Twitter users insisting that 'black cat said no' will be their go-to excuse from now on.

Sharing photos of their own black cats looking decidedly put out by the suggestion that maintenance would want to carry out work, Twitter, in this instance, played an absolute blinder.

In case you were tuned into anything else at the time, Ryan Gosling appeared on The Graham Norton Show last night, and it made for some hilarious viewing.

While sandwiched between Harrison Ford, Reese Witherspoon and Margot Robbie, the 36-year-old actor was coerced into a recalling a time from his youth he'd clearly rather forget.

Drawing the La La Land actor out, Graham Norton suggested there was once a time when Ryan's parents had aspirations for him in the world of sales.

Sounding genuinely bemused by the memory, Ryan revealed that his parents once happened up a large supply of cellophane and thought nothing of recruiting their young son as the commercial spokesman for their supply.

From remembering how he peddled it to teachers to recalling how he spun it to students, Ryan's discomfort is palpable… and hilarious.

Graduating from soap to the silver screen, it's perhaps no surprise that Margot Robbie harboured reservations ahead of her role in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Starring opposite Leonardo Di Caprio is no mean feat for any actor or actress, but it sounds like Margot had more concerns about the public's perception of her than her co-star's one.

The Australian actress opened up during a recent interview with Wonderland and revealed that her role as Naomi caused her concern due to the script's fixation with her physical appearance.

Described in the script as 'the hottest blonde ever', Margot, who was 23 during shooting, feared that she wouldn't be able to do the character of Naomi justice.

In a display of incredible humility, the stunning actress admitted that she feared audiences wouldn't consider her attractive enough to pull off the role.

"When I was playing Naomi in The Wolf of Wolf Street it was so high-tempo sexy," she began.

"I was acutely aware that the line in the screenplay was 'the hottest blonde ever', I'm clearly not the hottest blonde ever,” she opined.

Arguing that the role put pressure on her, not just from an acting perspective, Margot revealed she became insecure about the fixation on her character's appearance.

“I was just terrified that people would see the movie and think 'eugh! She's not that great.'" she admitted.

If you regularly remove hair from your body with the help of a razor, you'll be all too aware that commercials advertising the practice rarely reflect the reality.

Indeed, many ads would have you believe a shaving session takes place by candle light while other suggest the presence of body hair isn't even a prerequisite for the endeavour.

Considering this outdated approach, Friction Free Shaving decided to create an ad which offers a more realistic portrayal of the practice, complete with lack of balance, uncoordinated moves and oodles of patience.

And Facebook has banned it.

The ad, which features a naked woman whose breasts and genitalia are concealed beneath two green swatches, is an ode to the reality of your standard shaving session, so it's unsurprising those behind it are outraged by Facebook's decision to remove it.

"We wanted to move away from traditional and outdated women’s shaving ads that are over-glamourised, sexualised and unrealistic," co-founder Briar Keen explained to Designtaxi in the aftermath of the corporation's decision.

"We don’t think that a woman shaving is anything to be ashamed of and find it sexist and deeply offensive that Facebook has banned our ad on these grounds."

Facebook have argued that users may be offended by the 'adult nature' of the advertisement – an argument which Briar refutes by highlighting the amount of support the ad had thus far received.

"We know a lot of women will agree with us, so we are calling on them to support us by watching our video in full at ffs.co.uk and sharing our story on their social media channels."

Following remarks made by Phonsie Cullinan, the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, on the reliability of the HPV vaccine, two Ministers have advised the Church to exclude themselves from current medical debate.

Recently commenting on the vaccine which seeks to prevent against cervical cancer, Bishop Cullinane suggested that the money may be better spent educating adolescents on the merits of living 'clean and chaste' lives.

"I wonder could the large amount of money being spent on this vaccine be better spent on programmes which encourage our young people to live clean and chaste lives," he remarked this week, before going on to cast doubt over its effectiveness.

"I know that the vaccine may do some good but from what I have read it is not the most effective way to guard against cervical cancer," he added.

According to a report in The Independent, the bishop's remarks were met with consternation by both Health Minister Simon Harris and Independent Alliance Minister of State John Halligan.

Highlighting Bishop Cullinane's lack of medical qualifications, Minister Harris said: “I don’t want to get into a spat with anybody, bishop or no bishop, but at the end of the day the people qualified to give medical advice on vaccinations are doctors and, funnily enough, not bishops.”

Minister Halligan made reference to the Church's hugely contentious reputation, saying: "Religion has no place in medical debate and the Catholic Church’s track record on the medical welfare of Irish women speaks for itself."

"Our health and health education policies need to be evidence-based, with faith and morals left firmly at the door."

"I would urge Bishop Phonsie to leave the clinical debates to the clinical experts," he continued. "His attempts to weigh in on a medical argument are ill-advised, to say the least."
