Under the Public Health (Standardised Packaging of Tobacco) Act which came into law in March 2015, cigarettes and tobacco products will be sold in plain packaging in Ireland as of today.

Following in the footsteps of the UK, Australia and France, cigarettes manufactured from today in Ireland must be in packages devoid of logos, trademarks, colours and graphics.

The measure, which is an attempt to reduce the number of people smoking in this country, does allow for brand promotion, but only with the appearance of the brand name in uniform font and colour.

The measure, which has been criticised by pro-smokers group Forest Ireland, allows for a transition period meaning that stock manufactured up to today's date may be sold for one more year.

However, stock manufactured from today onwards must be in plain packaging

Following the threat of legal action from the Civil Aviation Authority, Ryanair have committed themselves to emailing the passengers affected by their recent route cancellations.

Over the course of recent days, the CAA have accused Ryanair of misleading their customers by failing to properly highlight their legal rights – a concern which wasn't adequately addressed by the airline.

However, following the threat of legal action and under considerable media scrutiny, the airline have contacted affected passengers, who number in their hundreds of thousands, in order to clarify their legal rights amid the recent chaos.

Passengers have been told they can receive a refund or be transferred on to other flights or travel by trains, buses or car hire – progress in a situation which has been the focus of the CAA’s attention since September 18.

Commenting on developments, Kenny Jacobs, Ryanair's chief marketing office, has assured the public the airline are endeavouring to rectify the matter with immediate urgency.

"We apologise again sincerely for the disruption and inconvenience our rostering failure has caused some of our customers," he said.

"We have taken on extra customer service staff and are moving now to process and expedite all EU261 claims from affected customers," he continued. "We are committed to processing all such claims within 21 days of receipt and hope to have all such claims."

More than 400,000 customers have been affected by the multiple flight cancellations in recents days.

Here at SHEmazing HQ, we're looking forward to today's 6th annual March for Choice.

It's an issue that we have written about, considered and been impacted by as women in this country.

For this reason, we have decided to share with you the reasons why we will march today:

'Why I March – Because no one has a right to tell a woman what to do with her body. End of. It's her body. Not yours. Get over it.'

'I march because when I think of the trip that many women have had to make to England on their own, in secret, it makes me angry that this happens in 2017. They should be able to get the same care here.

I march because regardless of what I think or believe what someone else should do….it doesn't actually matter because they deserve to make their own decision.' – Jolie Niland, Business Development Manager at Sheology Digital

'I suppose from seeing friends go through the hard travel to England, I have seen first hand how not having the right to choice in Ireland has effected them, that journey stays with you for the rest of your life.'

'Having to put the burden of costs, travel  and stress of perhaps keeping it a secret from loved ones. The whole experience is just terrible to put any woman through in their lifetime. '

'I understand both sides of the argument on abortion but at the end of the day, it is my life, my body and if I am not ready to have a child, I deserve the right to decide for myself.'

'I am pro-choice and would finally like to see change to the 8th amendment at the referendum in 2018.' – Alannah O'Sullivan, Client Services Executive

A post shared by Gary Gary (@garybgary) on

'I march today because in spite of being my own person, there is a part of my body that, in this country, is seen as being more important than my choice, my will, by the State.'

'I don't know if I could even get an abortion if I did become pregnant, but I need to have the choice, the right to choose my future, one that isn't dictated by an insemination of any kind.'

'I march today because there are woman in this country who will face an unwanted pregnancy after surviving rape, and will face a longer prison sentence for having an abortion after that rape than their rapist will serve.'

'I march because I can make my own decisions, and it is my right to do so. A woman, not a womb.' – Sarah Magliocco, journalist and content creator at SHEmazing

'Until I moved to Ireland, I never even questioned it. French women acquired the right for abortion in 1975, long before I was even born.'

'We actually talked about it a lot recently as the lady behind the law, Simone Veil, just died. She is a true hero for us French ladies.'

'Anyway, what happens in my body should be up to me.'

'Of course, if we could avoid abortion, that would be great, and I think it is never an easy decision, but the reality is women have been getting it anyway and it is just hypocritical that you can't do it at home when people who can afford it fly to London.' – Elodie Noël, Food Editor at Sheology Digital

'They say home is where the heart is but the eighth amendment has made so many women feel like outsiders in their home country. I support the repeal the eighth campaign because we deserve complete control over our bodies.'

'The repeal the 8th campaign shows women that they are not alone. It shows the world that we will never give up on what we believe in. It shows the government that we won’t stop until we get what we deserve.'

'I am pro-choice because approximately twelve women a day travel abroad to get an abortion. They have to endure long strenuous journeys, they have to leave their partners and families behind in a country that has conditioned society into believing that abortion is bad.'

A post shared by Repeal Project (@repealproject) on

'We have no choice but to look elsewhere for help. The lack of support in Ireland is making our own women feel like they are criminals; they feel guilty, ashamed, they feel like they’re doing something bad.'

'I support this campaign because I want to show women in Ireland and around the world that we are strong.'

'The women who march are showing the world that we aren’t afraid to stand up for ourselves. We are going to fight for our rights.' – Kat O'Connor, journalist at Mummy Pages

'I march because a woman should be free to make her own choices regarding her own body,' – Mary Byrne, editor of Magic Mum

A post shared by @memarkhenderson on

'I march because I cannot support a law which seeks to isolate and criminalise women for daring to take control of their bodies.'

'I march because the idea that a woman in this country would be forced to endure a pregnancy, which she was brave enough to admit may cripple her mentally, emotionally or financially, makes my skin crawl.'

'I march because one day I may be faced with a situation many women before me have bravely endured, and I would hope my country would support me, not demonise me.'

'I march because women in Ireland deserve better.'– Niamh McClelland, SHEmazing Editor

'Not every woman wants to be a mother and not every woman would be a good mother. Not everyone has the means or desire to raise and care for a child.'

'There is inequality in Ireland when it comes to accessing hormonal contraception. Many GP's won't accept a medical card patient, particularly a new patient who moves to the area. The Well Woman centre doesn't take medical card either.  Plus you can only get a three-month prescription if you can afford to pay, meaning you have to go back a minimum of four times per year.'

'You can buy a pill prescription from online pharmacies and this is cheaper than GP visit but still expensive so not really an option for a medical card holder. It's also only really meant for someone who has already been prescribed the pill by a doctor and needs a new prescription.'

'Many women have issues with hormonal contraception and have to stop taking it because of a risk to physical or mental health.' – Anonymous

As the entertainment industry pays tribute to the man behind one of the most iconic magazines of all time, Ryan Tubridy has been quick to highlight the incongruity of Hugh Hefner's lifestyle in today's society.

Commenting on the passing of the 91-year-old Playboy publisher and reality TV star, Ryan mused over the life and times of Mr Hefner, and admitted that he struggled to understand his place.

"It does, particularly given the last five years and the way society has moved, he does seem to represent something from a past very, very far away now," Ryan asserted during his radio show yesterday.

"That whole smoking jacket and young women around him in this weird house. [We] will look back on it in years to come and say: 'It just was a very peculiar story."

Despite admitting he 'didn't like him at all', Ryan was keen not speak ill of his passing, adding: "Obviously rest in peace and all that, but wasn't one for me."

"I don't mean that in a prudish way by any means, it just feels like it is another day's work altogether," he clarified.

The 91-year-old, who began his publishing career in 1953, is understood to have passed away peacefully from natural causes.

In response to a campaign led by Central Scotland Labour MSP, Monica Lennon, it has been announced that Glasgow Airport will be providing their passengers with sanitary products, free of charge.

Monica's campaign to end period poverty has been supported by authorities at the Scottish airport, who will be leaving free tampons and pads in toilets within the main check-in hall and in arrival halls.

Commenting on the progressive move, Glasgow Airport managing director, Amanda McMillan, explained that a meeting with Monica Lennon earlier this year led to the decision.

"We met with Monica earlier this year and she highlighted the need to address what is a real issue for many women."

"Millions of passengers travel through our doors on an annual basis and this trial will ensure that our female customers have access to these essential products."

Commending the airport's move, Monica reiterated the importance of the campaign, and the impact it has on those in need.

"Providing free sanitary products at the airport sends out a strong message that periods are normal and I know this will be appreciated by passengers" she asserted.

"Getting your period can happen unexpectedly and often at inopportune times – at work, at school, and when you’re travelling," she continued.

"No-one should have to go without access to vital sanitary products, so it’s great that Glasgow Airport are leading by example on this issue so it's great that Glasgow Airport are leading by example on this issue."

When we heard that Life of Kylie was going to be an actual thing, we instantly wondered if model sis Kendall would ever do her own show.

We can see it now – behind the scenes at Paris Fashion Week, hobnobbing with Gigi and Bella, and generally living the jet set model life.

However, momager Kris put a swift end to our dreams in a recent Variety interview.

A post shared by Kendall (@kendalljenner) on

'No,' she replied straight up when asked if Kendall was planning a show of her own.

'Kendall is really satisfied on her role in KUWTK.'

'With her modelling career she's so busy,' Kris continued.

'If she's not walking a runway, she's shooting a campaign or travelling around the world with her fashion obligations.'

'She's a pretty busy little girl.'

Maybe the sisters could have a joint spin-off, much like Khloe and Kourtney.

Kylie and Kendall take Calabasas perhaps?

'In London, people don’t really pay attention to me – in a good way,' he told Shortlist.

'I’m not saying everyone should know who I am, but I go on the Tube, or walk down the street, absolutely no problem.'

'I went to Chelsea vs Tottenham at Wembley, and got the Tube there with the Chelsea fans. Nothing. Londoners are in their own little world, aren’t they?'

Despite being caught up in the midst of a major flight cancellation debacle, Ryanair seems adamant on maintaining its place as one of the most competitive airlines when it comes to price.

The airline, who has until 5pm today to refund the cancellations from its UK flights, has announced yet another massive seat sale.

Ryanair promises discounts on over one million seats to various European destinations.

Most of the fares are under €10.00, a fraction of the cost on any other airline.

Paris, Cologne, London, Ibiza and Manchester are all included in the sale.

To be in with a chance of securing these sweet deals, you have to book by Sunday, October 1.

The travel period is from October 2017 to February 2018.

Twitter has been pretty harsh in their response to the seat sale, with many questioning whether any of the flights will go ahead due to recent mass cancellations.

The 6th and hopefully last March for Choice is happening in Dublin this Saturday.

It is set to be one of the biggest demonstrations to the government that the country would like to fully repeal the 8th amendment, rather than a conservative change, and proper legislation on the subject in Northern Ireland.

Ireland's capital has been chosen at the venue, so the demonstration can march on Dáil Éireann.

If you don't hail from Dublin and don't know how you'll get up here to protest, then never fear.

A number of localised Pro-choice groups have organised transport straight to the march from various locations around the country.

Here is an extensive list of all of the pick up points around the country, as laid out by Jantien Schoenmaker on Twitter.

For anyone with direct experience of disordered eating, they will know that the media's portrayal of the various conditions aren't always an accurate reflection of the lived reality.

But for many of us whose understanding of anorexia and bulimia is born of book, movies and TV shows, it might come as a surprise to learn that a person living with an eating disorder may look no different to anyone else in our social group.

Indeed, they may spend years battling an illness – symptoms of which are invisible to their friends and family.

Making it her mission to remind the public of this, body-positive Instagram user, Carissa Seligman, shared a splitscreen shot of herself in an effort to highlight the misunderstanding around eating disorders.

The girl with the eating disorder isn't always the one who looks "scary skinny." In fact, she may not even be the thinnest in the room. But what you see on the outside doesn't always translate to what is going on inside. . . The minute I saw the photo on the left I said "oh, that was me after my eating disorder." Well that's not true. That's not even kind of true. Yes, this picture was taken AFTER I started eating again… probably the year after… but I was very much IN my eating disorder. I had gone through a 4ish month period of starving myself and surviving solely on caffeine and crackers. Then, I started eating again and could. not. stop. I felt awful. None of the things that spurred my starvation period had been solved, discovered, or discussed and I began to use food to fill a hole. So not only was I unhappy without really knowing it, BUT I was gaining weight which at the time was my worst nightmare. And I was doing anything I could to lose it again. . . I wish I could tell you that I solved it; that I found a solution and started to look and feel great VERY quickly… but that's just not true. The photo on the left was taken in 2005. Up until 2016, I was trying to get back to the weight I was during my 4 month starvation period. 11 YEARS! 11 years of having a terrible relationship with food, my body, and my mind. But it isn't like that now! I FINALLY started to develop a healthy relationship with food, which is why i wrote this. Because I really hope it doesn't take you 11 years to start to feel better. . . In 2016, a few things happened. I got serious about my career and realized that I was good at what I did. Having that, contributed to my self worth and self esteem. I stopped drinking and using alcohol as a bandaid. I was finally free to find things that brought me joy. I got back to moving, getting stronger, & feeling better. Food became an ally in my life. And now, here I am feeling and looking better than I ever have. AND I'M SO VERY GRATEFUL. . . Self love is WORK. I wish I could tell you otherwise, but I can't. There's no quick fix or simple solution. The inside has to be good before the outside will be anything you can love.

Turning her attention to the photo she uploaded, Carissa, whose Instagram page now focuses on healthy eating and fitness regimes, wrote: "Yes, this picture was taken AFTER I started eating again… probably the year after… but I was very much IN my eating disorder."

Giving her followers an insight into the emotional turmoil she endured during this time, she admitted that a quick-fix was not something she landed upon.

"So not only was I unhappy without really knowing it, BUT I was gaining weight which at the time was my worst nightmare. And I was doing anything I could to lose it again. I wish I could tell you that I solved it; that I found a solution and started to look and feel great VERY quickly… but that's just not true."

"But it isn't like that now! I FINALLY started to develop a healthy relationship with food, which is why I wrote this. Because I really hope it doesn't take you 11 years to start to feel better."

"In 2016, a few things happened. I got serious about my career and realized that I was good at what I did. Having that, contributed to my self worth and self esteem. I stopped drinking and using alcohol as a band aid."

I share some dark, personal, ugly stuff on this page. I think it's therapeutic for me… soooo here we go … This is a difficult story to say briefly because alcohol played one of the main characters in my story for most of my 20s. We had a BAD relationship, but I didn't acknowledge that for a long time. There was a tailgate, or a party, or a break up, or the wrong kind of alcohol, or the RIGHT kind of alcohol… you get it… there was always an excuse. I wish I could tell you every detail, but IG wouldn't allow it and my lil fingers would probably break off before I finished typing … . . So let me tell you the state of things in the photo on the left. I drank everyday; wine on weeknights because you know that's "classy" and "grown up" and "normal." I drank who knows what on weekends. I also had started following the BBG program so I was working out 5 days/week. Some mornings I was hungover. Some days I just couldn't make it happen… but I was actually pretty consistent. Unfortunately, I was calorie counting and saving about 800/ day for wine yup, those sugar calories made up half my daily intakeNeedless to say, I didn't feel awesome and what I was doing was in no way shape or form maintainable… or healthy. My body finally said "no more!" And my brain had no choice but to listen. . . In the photo on the right, I have not had a sip of alcohol in 15+ months. It was a BIG adjustment as first: nervous energy, difficulty sitting still, MASSIVE sugar cravings …. those were new things I learned to deal with or work through. But I got so much more than I gave up. I learned what does feel good for my body. I found balance and motivation and positivity in a whole new lifestyle and community. I can go to a bar and just enjoy being around the people I'm with… but alcohol is no longer part of my storyline. . . Maybe it's not alcohol… maybe something else is holding you back from the thing or the life you want most. What is it? Can you get rid of it? Will you? Why don't you?

"I was finally free to find things that brought me joy. I got back to moving, getting stronger, & feeling better. Food became an ally in my life. And now, here I am feeling and looking better than I ever have. AND I'M SO VERY GRATEFUL."

Reaching out to anyone who is currently in a similar position, Carissa admits the journey back to health is far from easy, but undeniably worth it.

"Self love is WORK. I wish I could tell you otherwise, but I can't. There's no quick fix or simple solution. The inside has to be good before the outside will be anything you can love."

The post has been inundated with comments from followers paying tribute to Carissa's courage and honesty before offering an insight into their own experiences.

"Thank you for posting this. I suffer from Anorexia and am slowly recovering," wrote one social media user.

"I don't "look" like it though…and a lot of people are like "why don't you just eat more?" When…they don't get it because I don't "look" sick enough. I'm still battling with food and my relationship with it, but this was inspiring to see. I'm glad I did."

Social media users have taken to Twitter in their droves to commend Julia Louis Dreyfuss's response to her recent cancer diagnosis.

The Veep star uploaded a short but poignant message to her Twitter account after learning that she had breast cancer.

Turning her attention to the millions of other women dealing with a similar diagnosis, the 56-year-old actress urged the public to work towards supporting them.

"1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I'm the one," she began in a post which has been liked almost 400,000 thousands in less than 24 hours.

"The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality."

Unsurprisingly, Julia's fans and followers have wasted no time showing their support for their star and paying tribute to her empathetic post.

Among the supporters are high-profile names including former vice-president Joe Biden, Hollywood producer Judd Apatow and Pitch Perfect star, Anna Kendrick.

"We Veeps stick together. Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia." wrote Joe in a post which has been liked more than a quarter of million times.

"Sending you love and strength but it appears you beat us to it and are sending the world love and strength," Judd wrote in a tribute yesterday.

HBO, home to the award-winning Veep, have released a statement regarding Julia's announcement, beginning: "Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time."

"We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep."
