This week's weather has been pretty damn rough, and it sounds like today is going to be an amalgamation of everything the last few days has had to offer.

An update issued on Twitter by Met Éireann has warned the public that a mixture of hail, thunder, sleet and snow is imminent.

"Frequent blustery showers, today, some of them heavy and prolonged, with a risk of hail and thunder," read the tweet this morning.

"Showers of sleet and snow also, especially later this afternoon. Strong and gusty westerly winds, gale along west and southwest coasts."

The Met Éireann website points to a stormy night ahead, saying: "Windy tonight, with strong and gusty westerly winds, and gales or strong gales at sea, producing large waves along Atlantic coast."

"Scattered showers will continue, interspersed with clear intervals. Some of the showers will be wintry, especially over high ground, with an ongoing risk of thunder."

With minimum temperatures of 0 to plus 4 degrees Celsius, with a risk of frost in sheltered spots, it's definitely a night for the open fire.

A 23-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the shooting in Parslickstown, Mulhuddart, Dublin, the Irish Mirror reports.

The incident left a baby boy, his mother, and his 17-year-old uncle injured.

The young woman was detained in the Wicklow area and is being held under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended at a Dublin Garda Station.

Gardaí have also found a gun.

They said in a statement, "Gardaí can also confirm that they have recovered a firearm as a result of searches in the Parslickstown area earlier today. The male arrested yesterday in connection with the incident remains in custody."

17-year-old Matthew 'Matsie' Collins and his infant nephew John Collins underwent surgery last night after the close-range attack. The baby boy was taken to Temple Street Children's Hospital and the teenager was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

The baby's mum, 29-year-old Lynn Doyle, was holding her child when a person started shooting them with shotgun pellets. Matsie was shot in the stomach.

Thankfully, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

It is thought that the attack was the result of a feud within the Traveller community, the Irish Times reports.

Arthur Collins, father of Matsie and grandfather to John, told the Irish Times that the incident was 'all over a dispute that happened two or three years ago, but we thought it was all over'.

Superintendent Liam Carolan from the Blanchardstown Garda Station said that 'there is a quite volatile situation' surrounding the shooting. He also commented that it was too early for any speculation on 'who or what has been involved'.

He urged anyone with information to come forward, saying, "Anyone who was in the vicinity of Parlickstown Gardens from 12 noon — if they saw a car driving at high speed, if they saw people hanging around or thought something seemed strange, anything like that.

“We’ve set up an incident room at Blanchardstown Garda station if they could contact us there on 016667000 or the confidential line 1800666111."

We hope that the victims make a speedy recovery.

If you've ever had to talk yourself out of keeping a present you had actually bought for someone else, you're in good company here.

The folk at SHEmazing HQ have all been known to tuck into a box of chocolates or crack into a bottle of wine which was originally purchased for someone else, and we're definitely not the only ones.

According to a recent survey conducted by Lir, the premium Irish chocolate maker, more than half of us are guilty of this, with 61 per cent of those surveyed admitting that they have eaten a box of chocolates that was purchased as a gift for someone else.

So, what actually happens when the chocolates eventually make their way to their rightful owner?

Do the Irish public exhibit a little restraint or (like all of us here at SHEmazing) do they go hell for leather and devour the entire box in one sitting?

Well, it turns out that only 10 per cent would do the latter while 73 per cent of people said that they would share them with family and friends and 17 per cent would choose to enjoy just one or two a day.

Far be it from us to cast aspersions on our fellow countrymen, but something tells us that that 10 per cent are the only ones telling the truth…

The season is finally here – the trees are up, the lights are on and the mulled wine is flowing.

It is bloody freezing out, so it is officially appropriate to pour yourself a delicious glass of red wine, brandy, oranges, and a handful of the most delightful spices you can find.

Not into drinking mulled wine? Firstly – weird, are you okay? Secondly, fear not – just add some spice to your hair.

I was only thinking the other day that it has been quite a while since there was a new hair colour on the block.

And sure look, only a week later, and we have MULLED WINE HAIR – amazing.

Now, I can already hear you say 'Rebecca, this is literally just red hair…' but that is NOT the point.

The point is that we're half way through December, and I'm feeling festive, so it is mulled wine hair. Don't be a scrooge.

Anyhoo, let's discuss this gloriously festive NEW hair shade.

According to the gorgeous humans at Popsugar (who originally spotted the trend) mulled wine hair is characterised by its berry-red, dark undertones.

That's enough talking, let's simply let the gorgeous hairstyles speak for themselves…

BACK FROM THE 90’s…and just in time for holiday 2017! #mulledwinehair is trending! There is nothing quite like a winter hair trend – whether it’s actually wearable, like the cider and spice hair color trend, or those glorious Christmas tree brows. So even if a beauty choice isn’t technically new, the timely rediscovery of a classic hair look: like the 1990s mulled hair color trend is bound to take off. Featuring a deep, berry red tone with multidimensional highlights and lowlights, it mimics the look of a nice mug of mulled wine. To preserve the richness of this color? If you were scrolling through Instagram over the weekend, you may have noticed some collage posts peppering your usually aesthetic feeds.

The end of 2017 is night, and with it comes the urge to look back at your fondest memories over the last 12 months.

For Instagram, that means having a look at the posts that performed the best in terms of likes and comments, and that's exactly what those Best Nine 2017 posts are doing.

If you were scouring the app itself for a way to curate your own best nine, you may have been left scratching your head.

The app itself doesn't create the collages, but luckily, it's pretty easy to do.

First up, you have to make sure your page is on public, as Best Nine cannot gather information from private accounts.

Next, head over to the Best Nine website, and put in your handle, and the site will generate your best nine post automatically.

The collages have become a bit of a trend, so the site warns that there is a delay in generating of 10 minutes (or forty, which is how long ours took).

The feature will also tell you exactly how many snaps you posted over the last year, and how many likes you received all together – pretty mind blowing.

Every year you tell yourself it's going to be different, and yet every year you find yourself stomping your way through an overheated department store with no idea how you've ended up in this situation yet again.

Having left it too late to avail of any online services, you resign yourself to a stress-filled, anxiety-ridden day spent barging into other last-minute shoppers who have no time for you or your lack of planning. And let's be honest, you've hardly got time for theirs, either.

If you are a bonafide last-minute merchant, you'll know all too well the highs and lows of that infamous festive dash through the city's crowded streets.

Let's take a look, shall we?

1. The constant de-robing

Pulling your gloves on and off while frantically loosening your scarf is par for the course when you're dashing in and out of different stores every 15 minutes.

You convince yourself you'll make it to the next destination without having to wrap up, only to realise you have a chance of losing your fingers if you don't actually stop and stuff your fingers into some damp wool.

And the cycle continues.

2. The lack of familial knowledge

In the midst of Christmas mania, you tend to forget every single thing about your family which may help you actually choose a present.

Can your dad read? Does your mam have any interest in film? What's your brother's name?

You know, that kinda thing.

3. The lack of interest

Yes, your stressed face may suggest you're absolutely desperate to land on the perfect present for a chosen loved one, but only you know how little you actually care.

Of course you have no desire to leave them empty-handed on the big day, but whether they'll truly love the gift is, at this stage, kind of beside the point.

You need something to wrap, and damn it, you're going to find it on this shelf.

4. The 3 for 2 hell

In theory, it sounds amazing, but in reality it just forces you into another level of hell, as you desperately try to match what's on offer with a member of your circle.

And as always, you'll only find an item suitable for a person you've already bought something for.

But you just can't so no to a bargain… even if it's not a bargain.

5. The random ache

Whether it's a gnawing pain in your lower pack, a pinched heel from your winter boots or a throbbing headache from the heat and the crowds, you will not make it through this day without at least one painkiller.

And, as we all know, that painkiller may as well have been thrown over your shoulder for all the good it will do.

6. The frantic phone call

If you haven't stood in the middle of a store and held up everyone around you while you made a frantic phone call home, you're a mere novice when it comes to a last-minute dash.

Demanding to know what your family members like and what they already own is a classic stage in the sh*tshow that is the seasonal shopping trip.

Hanging up in frustration is also par for the course.

7. The nagging financial worry

You know you need to buy these presents and you know there's no way around it, and yet you can't shake off the nagging financial worry and simply embrace the season.

With every tap of your card, your stomach folds itself into a bigger knot as you imagine what your statement is going to look like in January.

You may have ticked someone off your list, but ironically, all it has given you is further anxiety.

And the worst part? You know you'll endure all of this again next time around, Why? Because you never learn.

In 2017 we've had squiggle brows, we've had feather brows, we've even had negative space brows, but the year isn't over yet.

Stepping in to pay homage to the holiday season is the now viral Christmas tree brows.

Yep, you read that one correctly.

Christmas Tree brows have been trending on Instagram, and we're not sure what to think of it.

If you have a 12 pubs of Christmas coming up and you reckon you're brave enough to rock it for silly season, its actually quite easy to achieve.

Also known as Bauble Brows, all you need is brow gel, glitter, gems and star stickers.

A post shared by ABC 7 Chicago (@abc7chicago) on

First, brush your brows into the distinctly spiky shape using the clear gel. If you're brow hairs arent long enough to achieve the look, you can add individual eye lashes to your brows to extend the branch shapes.

Next up, add the gem stones to the end of each branch, before sticking a star sticker to the inner point of your eyebrow.

Here are a few of our favourite Christmas tree brow looks to either lol at or be inspired by:
