Transition Year students are to be given classes on the importance of sexual consent under a new scheme aimed at challenging young people's preconceptions.

The aim of the course, which will be taught over six two-hour classes, is to give students the knowledge and tools to be able to give informed consent.

The sessions will allow students to get involved in the discussion through debates and exercises.

The classes will also explore a number of ways to prevent sexual violence as well as possible ways to deal with challenging behaviour.

The move had been welcomed by Children's Minister Katherine Zappone, who told The Irish Independent: "The #MeToo campaign made 2017 a watershed year in terms of raising awareness about sexual harassment, abuse and violence."

"However, raising awareness is not enough. We must also act," she said.

"I will be encouraging Tusla, frontline services and our youth organisations to engage further to see if other ways can be found to reach more teenagers.

"It is my goal that the experiences we gain in the coming months will also be used to introduce this education into the mainstream syllabus, making it available to every young person in the country."

If Beyoncé and Jay-Z's tumultuous marriage has been anything, it has most certainly been public.

Never has this been more apparent than through the new video for Jay-Z's song, 'Family Feud'.

Not only is the song partly about the up and downs of the couple's marriage (much like Beyoncé's Lemonade), but the video stars both the rapper's wife and their 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

The 34 second teaser from his latest album 4:44 is rife with religious iconography.

The father-of-three raps in a confessional, Queen Bey stands tall behind a pulpit, and adorable Blue Ivy walks through a church with her father.

The rest of the video features a star-studded cast: Brie Larson, new mum Mindy Kaling, Rosario Dawson, Constance Wu, and Rashida Jones, to name a few.

The myriad of talented women play the Founding Mothers of the United States, who revise the Constitution together.

While the video focuses heavily on Jay-Z's relationships (there is, of course, a reference to 'Becky'), the track is also an exploration of the black entertainment community.

The line 'Nobody wins when the family feuds' can most certainly apply to both his home life and the conflicts found within hip-hop culture.

The full video is available on Tidal.

Michele Baldini, a 20-year-old medical student from Mexico, says the idea started when he was experimenting with a simple Yin Yang symbol.

Since then, the creative chef has gone on to create some of the most incredible designs that look (almost) too good to eat.

From delicate snowflakes to entire counties, Michele's skills seem to grow and grow as time goes on.

Sticking with the same background for every photo (a black frying pan), the artist shares his creations on the Instagram account the_eggshibit

Since launching the page just two months ago, Michele has amassed over 8,000 followers, and it's not hard to see why.

Just take a look:

Look, just like Christmas, New Year's Eve definitely isn't for everyone.

While some people's idea of bliss is donning a pair of 2018 glasses and doing the Conga, it's other people's idea of hell.

And while it's definitely much easier to admit you hate New Years than it is to admit you hate Christmas, some people still get an earful when they refuse to hold hands and sing Auld Lang Syne at the strike of midnight.

Thankfully, Twitter is a safe space when it comes to New Year's Eve woe, and it's a topic that's currently trending online as the public gear up (or not) for the big event.

If there's one day of the year when cooking for ourselves is utterly beyond us, it's New Year's Day.

And it seems we're not alone.

Just Eat, Ireland’s leading marketplace for online food ordering and delivery service, today confirmed that New Year’s Day 2017 emerged as the most popular day of the year to order takeaway.

The service saw a 40 per cent increase in orders on 1 January 2017 versus the previous year as people across the country recovered from the biggest party of the year.

Other occasions which proved to be popular throughout the year included Valentine’s Day, Back to School, Summer festivals, Halloween and Christmas.

Having analysed last year's trends, Just Eat has today announced its prediction that vegan food options are set to be the food trend of 2018, driven in part to an increase in demand from the image and health conscious, social media savvy consumers.

In 2017 there was an 987 per cent increase in demand for vegetarian options and 33 per cent of all Just Eat Restaurant Partners now provide Vegan and Vegetarian options on their menus.

Some of Just Eat’s restaurant partners like Bombay Pantry, has even launched their own bespoke vegan menu, reaffirming that there is a lot more to Indian food than just Chicken Tikka Masala.

Demand for healthy choices generally grew by 94 per cent in 2017 vs 2016 and gluten free options increased by 72 per cent, while existing favourites were still popular among Irish consumers, who continued to opt for Chinese, Indian, American and Thai restaurants this year.  Hawaiian, Greek, Malaysian and Vietnamese food also proved firm favourites in 2017.

Just Eat Marketing Director, Edel Kinane said “The results from this year are a good insight into the future consumer trends and while convenience will continue to be key for consumers next year and beyond, we know that they are increasingly looking for more diverse, healthy, gluten free and plant based Vegan options”.

The Just Eat app  has now been downloaded over 1 million times with 60 per cent of all Just Eat orders going through the app.

It is anticipated that this figure will continue to grow in 2018.

If you've ever purchased a Lotto ticket at the Kilmoon Service Station in Ashbourne, Co Meath, you may want to stop reading right here.

According to an appeal issued by the Lotto Headquarters yesterday, time has officially run out for the person who purchased a winning Euromillions ticket at the Meath service station earlier this year.

On September 25, a €7 Quickpick was bought and subsequently netted a staggering €500,000 in the following night's draw, but unfortunately the 'lucky' person failed to come forward and claim their prize in the three months that followed.

Yesterday, National Lottery Chief Executive, Dermot Griffin, issued an urgent appeal to the public to check any old tickets they may have.

"There are just hours left to claim on this EuroMillions Plus ticket worth €500,000 and we are once again appealing to our players to check their tickets carefully."

"The deadline for this prize is today. We are open after the Christmas break and we would love to see the winner or winners make contact.”

We have no idea if this is a case that somebody is not aware of their good fortune, or if they are waiting until the last minute to make their claim," he continued. "We urge anybody who bought a EuroMillions Plus ticket in Meath three months ago to check their numbers just in case.

Ladies, if you can stomach rooting through your belongings, the winning numbers were 17, 31, 37, 40, 46.

The Church of Sweden has made headlines in recent days following an announcement that they intend to employ gender-neutral terms when referring to God.

In an effort to stay in keeping with an increasingly inclusive society, the Church will forego the traditional male pronoun over the course of the next six months.

Lena Sjostrand, the chaplain of Lund Cathedral, elaborated on the progressive move, while Antje Jackelen, the Lutheran Archbishop of Uppsala, explained that the church has always considered God to have both male and female attributes.

Speaking to PBS News Hour, Lena said: "We have consciousness about gender questions, which is stronger in our time than it has been before."

"Of course, this has had an impact on theology and on church life and pastoral reflection," she added.

According to The Independent, the expression “In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit” will be replaced by “In God the Trinity’s name."

The move has generated criticism from some corners of society, and it has been established that priests will not be forced to change language in church, but have been encouraged to do so.
