Emergency services are at the scene of an explosion on a Manhattan subway platform at the Port Authority Bus Terminal after a bomb prematurely detonated.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after he reportedly entered a midtown subway platform armed with a pipe bomb strapped to his body.

It's believed the device was intended to explode on a subway carriage, putting hundreds of commuters in danger.

However, according to The Telegraph, the premature explosion meant that the suspect and four others were injured in the attack – though conflicting reports mean that the number of injuries has yet to be confirmed.

The incident occurred just five blocks from Times Square – one of New York's most popular tourists attractions.

The suspect, believed to be a Bangladeshi national who has lived in the US for seven years, reportedly told authorities that he made the device at the electrical company where he works.

A bar in the UK has sparked outrage after it said it will no longer allow female-fronted bands to perform.

Staff at Doctor Brown's in Middlesbrough say the decision was made after they received a number of complaints from regular customers.

Despite a hugely negative reaction, bar owners have defended the controversial move claiming it “isn't sexist.”

Speaking to The Northern Echo, Doctor Brown's manager, Paula Rees, said: “We had female singers on in the past and customers just didn’t like it – we’re a rock bar and they don’t think that women should sing male rock songs.”

“It’s nothing to do with me, it’s the pub’s regulars who come in every week, they won’t come in if there’s a female singer.”

She continued: “We have got to keep our regulars happy, I’m not a rock fan so can’t judge myself but I’ve been told that some women can sing and some can’t, but they can’t sing heavy rock.”

“If we put a poster up and our regulars know there’s a woman in the band, they won’t give them a chance – they’re my bread and butter and we can’t risk nobody coming in.”

While Paula may claim the decision was made in the name of business, we can't help but think that excuse is a bit of a cop-out – and we're not the only ones.

Hey 'regulars'! Ever listen to the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Blondie or Paramore?

No? Didn't think so.

Oh well, your loss.

So, while we're all about treating ourselves to some luxury products every now and again, there comes a point in every pay check when we need to stop and ask – 'Is this really worth the price tag?'

The answer of course is almost always no, but try telling us that when we're face to face to with the designer perfume we've been dreaming about for the last six months.

However, it looks Kylie Jenner's latest protect may have priced even the most reckless of spenders out of the market.

The Silver Series Brush Collection, all of Kylie’s favorite brushes, available individually and as a set on December 13!

A post shared by Kylie Cosmetics (@kyliecosmetics) on

The 20-year-old cosmetics mogul has been teasing fans with sneak peaks of her new Silver Series Brush Collection which is due to land on December 13.

The set features 13 of Kylie's favourite brushes – all of which can be yours for just $360 (€305).

Yep.

Why tax your car for a year when you could be the proud owner of a Kylie Jenner buffing brush?

Needless to say, fans are less than impressed with the extortionate price tag.

Kylie addressed the backlash in a tweet posted on Sunday, stating that the price was set so high because "real brushes don’t compare to synthetic brushes."

"I have developed for you guys the most amazing luxury brushes ever," she wrote.

"I am very excited! Real brushes don’t compare to synthetic brushes. Different performance/quality/everything. I am 100% down to do an entire synthetic line in the future which will ultimately be cheaper."

In an attempt to further justify the cost, the youngest member of the Kardashian clan posted a screen shot of other "real brush lines" with similar price tags.

Either way, unlike Kylie's other products, we're no expecting these sets to sell out in a hurry

TV bosses in the UK have entered a tug-of-war competition over reality star, Georgia Toffolo, following her successful stint on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

The Made In Chelsea star was crowned Queen of the Jungle last night after proving victorious over fellow contestants Jamie Lomas and Iain Lee.

Visibly stunned by her achievement, Georgia couldn't contain her emotion when chatting to hosts, Ant and Dec.

“It’s really overwhelming, thank you so much. Sorry I don’t know what to say I’m really shocked,” she said after winning the public vote.

And it looks like the 23-year-old impressed more than just the British public, with bosses at ITV and Channel 4 both reportedly eager to sign the star.

And while she may be contracted for one more series of E4's Made in Chelsea, ITV are rumoured to be interested in taking her on as a potential presenter and panel show captain.

According to The Mirror, a source close to Georgia said: “Georgia is in a enviable position now.”

“She will be in the next series of Made in Chelsea, but beyond that there are lots of options and lots of interest.”

“The last two winners of I’m A Celebrity were female, in Scarlett Moffatt and Vicky Pattison, and both have ended up working with ITV on projects.”

“There is going to be some real competition to make her good offers.”

One thing's for sure – 2018 is going to be a big year for the reality star.

Volunteer group, Inner City Helping Homeless will hold a public protest concert outside the gates of Dáil Éireann this week.

The non-profit organisation has arranged the concert in a effort to drive home the message it's latest hashtag campaign #HomelessnessIsNotNormal.

Performers on the day include Glen Hansard, Frances Black, Ryan O'Shaughnessy, Emmet Kirwan, with many more musicians, artists, poets and playwrights due to take to the stage.

Clare O Connor, of Inner City Helping Homeless, said the issue is "spiralling out of control" and insisted that urgent action is needed to help those who are sleeping rough or living in temporary accommodation.

“ICHH are interacting with up to 200 rough sleepers nightly, there have been seven deaths in the homeless community in the last 12 weeks and Ireland has the fastest growth rates in homelessness in Europe," she said.

“This crisis affects every section of society – rising rents, landlords evicting, mortgage arrears, poverty the lack of social housing and the inefficient spending of tax on emergency accommodation mean this is a national issue.”

Songs & Words A Home For All takes place on Tuesday December 12, at 12 noon.

Anyone who is around town is encouraged to come along to this is a free, family-friendly event to show support.

Former celebrity publicist, Max Clifford, has died aged 74.

After collapsing in his cell in Littlehey Prison in Cambridgeshire on Thursday and again on Friday, he was taken to hospital where he suffered cardiac arrest.

Mr. Clifford has been serving an eight-year jail sentence after he was found guilty of eight indecent assaults on women and girls between 1977 and 1985.

He was the first person convicted as a result of Operation Yewtree – a British police investigation launched after emerged that the entertainer Jimmy Savile had been a serial sexual predator for years.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice confirmed his death and revealed that an investigation had been launched.

"As with all deaths in custody, there will be an investigation by the independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman," the spokesman said.

"Our condolences are with Mr Clifford's family at this difficult time."

Two of the music industry's best loved male performers could be teaming up to help a very deserving cause.

In an effort to help those affected by the wildfires in Southern California, Justin Bieber and Niall Horan have both pledged their support, with the later suggesting that a charity single would be a "no brainer."

Speaking to Mirror Online, the Mullingar native explained that his house in LA is not too far from the location of the fires, and told how he was inspired to lend a hand when Justin released an Instagram video saying he would do whatever he could to restore the effected communities.

A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

"We both live in LA and that's not too far from my house really, where all those fires are kicking off, it's absolutely horrific," Niall said.

"Three to four hundred homes destroyed and people's lives in tatters, so I thought about it when Justin reached out and sent that video."

In the video, Justin said: "I'm going to have a conversation with some people and we are going to get moving on a solution. Obviously I'm not a fireman but I can use my resources to figure out ways to get some sort of restoration in certain communities.

"Fundraisers or whatever we can do. I'm going to get on that and in the meantime all the families and everyone who are struggling, just know that everything is going to be OK."

Niall quickly responded, (in the most Irish way possible) letting the Despacito singer know that he was willing and able to help.

"Good man. Give me a shout if ya need a hand," he wrote.

It is not yet known what fundraising method the star will choose, though we're sure these guys will produce something really special.

Rose McGowan has taken to Twitter to hit out at fellow actress Meryl Streep, accusing her of playing down the allegations made against disgraced Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein.

Rose, who was one of the first stars to come forward in the scandal, took issue with the way Meryl spoke about the situation after she branded it as "the most gargantuan example of disrespect," in a recent interview for USA Today

The actress felt that Meryl's choice of words did not accurately represent the severity of Weinstein's actions.

"No, Meryl, IT’S A F***ING CRIME. You are such a lie # ROSEARMY Meryl Streep on Harvey Weinstein allegations: It's 'the most gargantuan example of disrespect' – USA TODAY," she wrote.

Meryl is by no means the first female star to be criticised for not speaking up.

Rose previously slammed the women of Hollywood for not condemning his crimes, saying their "silence is defening."

However, many of Rose's followers seem to think she may have jumped the gun on this one, with many encouraging the actress the re-read the article and check her sources.
