The entire country was glued to their TV screens,  and at least once, there wasn't a dry eye in  the house (you know what we're talking about.)

The show unites families around Ireland each year as they descend on their living rooms to eat chocolate and survey what toys will be flying off the shelves and landing under trees in 25 days time.

As well as watching the show, Twitter is the place to be for some epic running commentary:

And a bonus tweet from across the pond, just because:

You may know her for her role on Suits or her impending marriage to Prince Harry, but Procter & Gamble know her as the young woman who helped overhaul their advertising campaign back in 1993.

According to footage which has recently begun circulating online, Megan Markle was charming the press and public as as far back as the early 90s with her astute critique of sexist television adverts.

Appearing on Inside Edition in 1993, a soft-spoken, but passionate young Megan can be seen arguing against the blatant gender discrimination seen in adverts aired in the US.

"I don't think it's right for kids to grow up thinking these things, that just mum does everything," the 11-year-old told the camera. "It's always mum does this, and mum does that".

Determined to be the change she wants to see in the world,  Megan wrote to the advertisers and requested the replace the word 'women'  with the word 'people'.

And they did.

Megan, take a bow.

Let's be honest, there is nothing quite like the excitement that sweeps the nation in the build-up to the annual Late Late Toy Show.

A mixture of nostalgia, Christmas spirit and excess sugar means that the vast majority of us can barely wait for this year's episode to take place.

With fires to light, Christmas jumpers to don and wine bottles to uncork, the last thing we feel like doing is standing in the kitchen, agonising over what to cook in time for the show's opening credits.

Thankfully, we won't have to.

In honour of the wonderful event, Deliveroo will provide a special Toy Show Tuck Bag option on the app tonight to ensure everyone in your audience can tuck into something tasty while watching The Late Late Toy Show.

Joe Groves at Deliveroo said: “The special tuck bag will be full of delicious treats and surprises for all of the family to share from the comfort of their sofa."

"The nation likes to watch Ryan and the Toy Show in their favourite Xmas jumpers, or matching PJs and onesies, so we want to ensure everyone is comfy and stocked up for the night ahead.”

Since its launch in Dublin in 2015, Deliveroo has signed up over 500 restaurants across Ireland and created work for more than 800 riders in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast and Limerick.

The uncovering of Harvey Weinstein's sexual crimes in October of this year laid the entertainment industry bare.

For decades it seems, Hollywood has been a breeding ground for sexual predators and miscreants.

And it's an unfortunate truth, but for every person who rightfully places blame at the predator's feet, someone else is ready to place it at the victim's.

This reaction is all the more damaging when women hold other women accountable for the misconduct of men, as Pamela Anderson appeared to do during a recent interview with NBC.

Speaking to Megyn Kelly, the former Baywatch star, who has been candid about her own experience of sexual violence as a child and adolescent, said she subsequently avoided dangerous situations by employing some 'common sense."

"I learned never to put myself in those situations again,” she said. “When I came to Hollywood, of course, I had a lot of offers to do private auditions and things that make absolutely no sense. Just common sense."

"Don’t go into a hotel room alone. If someone answers a door in a bathrobe, leave. Things that are common sense. But I know Hollywood is very seductive and people want to be famous and sometimes you think you’re going to be safe with an adult in the room."

Alluding to certain individuals within the entertainment industry, Pamela suggested that those who fell foul did not properly heed warnings.

"I think it was common knowledge that certain producers and certain people in Hollywood are people to avoid, privately. You know what you’re getting into when you go to a hotel room alone."

Unsurprisingly, the Canadian star has faced serious backlash on Twitter in the wake of the interview, with one social media user writing: "Here’s a very stupid woman saying very stupid things about very brave women."

Yesterday, Matt Lauer issued an apology for the devastating impact his sexual misconduct has had on his victims, and those closest to him.

Today, Matt Lauer is reportedly seeking a $30 million pay-out from the network who dismissed him this week.

According to reports emerging from the States, attorneys for the disgraced news anchor are currently examining his contract, and attempting to establish whether the former NBC host is entitled to a substantial settlement in the wake of his dismissal.

As Lauer's contract runs through until 2018, this could mean he may potentially benefit from a financial pay-out.

However, reports suggest that due to a morality clause which is often included in broadcast contracts, the former Today host may not be entitled to anything.

Commenting on the reports, an industry insider insisted: "There is no way Matt is getting paid."

"There has been an irrevocable breach of Matt’s contract, there is a moral clause that says if he brings the company into disrepute – which he clearly has – NBC can terminate his employment immediately without pay and they do not have to pay out his contract.”

The 59-year-old has yet to comment on the latest reports.
