Yearly Archives: 2017

If you thought Prince Harry getting down on on knee over a roast chicken was the cutest engagement story you've heard this year, we've just found a contender.

And it comes in the form of Kaley Cuoco's reaction to her boyfriend, Karl Cook's proposal.

In a video uploaded to Instagram earlier this morning, the Big Bang Theory actress can be seen in floods of tears as she tries to get her head around the fact she's engaged.

Clearly overwhelmed, the actress had to be reminded to reply to the big question after dissolving into tears.

"Well after nearly two years I finally got up the courage to ask her to marry me. This is the best night of my life and I think the video shows it is the best night for kaley as well," Karl wrote in a caption alongside the video.

Sharing the same video on her own account, Kaley wrote: "Still crying. every part of this night has been perfection just like you @mrtankcook I love you forever!"

Karl went on to share a shot of the ring he chose for his wife-to-be, writing: "I am so so so happy."

"Thank you @nadis_diamonds for making the greatest ring I could hope for. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you thank you."

In the aftermath of the proposal, Kaley and Karl shared their first dance as an engaged couple, and we'll be honest, the romance is nearly sending us over the edge.

"In life, there is nothing like dancing right after getting engaged," Karl wrote alongside the footage.

"The purity and grace of the moment are inexplicable, it is truly as though life were a balloon bouncing on the smoothest zephyr. Honey; all I want is to be a balloon bouncing, bobbing, and flowing through life together. You are my everything."

And yes, we ARE crying. What of it?

At this stage, most of us know that the dynamic within Girls Aloud was a little awkward at times.

While they all started out as earnest young wannabes back in 2002, their rise to fame saw a shift in allegiances among group members.

Rumours abound that Nadine and Cheryl often clashed while Sarah was regularly seen as the outsider of the group, and it looks like a recent post on Cheryl's Instagram page may finally confirm that.

Celebrating the 15-year anniversary of the band's formation, the mum-of-one chose to share a photo of herself alongside Nicola and Kimberley.

While both Nicola and Kimberley were given a lengthy tribute, Nadine and Sarah got little more than a mere tag.

"Crazy how time flies. 15 years ago today some of the best, craziest years of my life were just beginning. I had no idea what a life journey I was starting out on," she began.

"We had some of the most amazing times of our lives and made some incredible pop moments to put the cherry on top."

Sitting here drinking coffee with these two and watching babies 15 years later !!! Crazy how time flies…15 years ago today some of the best, craziest years of my life were just beginning. I had no idea what a life journey I was starting out on. We had some of the most amazing times of our lives and made some incredible pop moments to put the cherry on top In the end I left with these two amazing, inspiring gorgeous souls and the best friends anyone could ever ask for. You blessed me and I will never be able to thank you enough for the support, love and loyalty you brought to our group. I am so proud of what we achieved together. Love you all @lilcola @kimberleywalshofficial @nadinecoyle @sarahnicoleharding Thank you#Girlsaloud15

So far, so good, but th rest of the post has left Girls Aloud fans in no doubt that there is little love lost between Cheryl, Nadine and Sarah.

Referring to Nicola and Kimberley, Cheryl continued: "In the end I left with these two amazing, inspiring gorgeous souls and the best friends anyone could ever ask for."

"You blessed me and I will never be able to thank you enough for the support, love and loyalty you brought to our group. I am so proud of what we achieved together."

Fans were quick to notice the disparity, with one writing; "She has only specified 2 but tagged them all – nadine and sarah haven't made the cut."

Others jumped to Cheryl's defence, with one social media user writing:"They shouldn't be attacked for being closer to each other than the others."

"Like I said, they mentioned the other two to show that they haven't forgotten they were apart of it to. I'm sorry but I've seen both nadine and sarah post things and crop the other three out, so cut these three some slack."

Cheryl's post has amassed almost 175,000 likes since yesterday.

The theme of this year’s Late Late Toy Show has finally been revealed as host Ryan Tubridy and a cast of hundreds get ready for the biggest night on Irish television.

Together they will be diving under the sea as the theme of this year’s show takes inspiration from the classic Disney animated film The Little Mermaid!

Commenting on the annual extravaganza, Ryan said: “This is going to be really special."

"I have wanted to do The Little Mermaid for the Toy Show for years and, at last, my ship has come in!"

"I can honestly say that it is like nothing you have ever seen on the show before and I think people are really going to enjoy it. There’s something in it for absolutely everyone in the family."

"My costume is a sight to behold but I am loving everything about this year's opening. I invite everyone to forget about the flotsam and jetsam of modern life, come where the people are and be part of our world for a couple of hours tonight. It’s going to be great fun."

Contour Goals with our @madisonmakeupirl Complete Contour Palette check out some more info over at www.madisonmakeup.ie

A post shared by MadisonMakeUpIRL (@madisonmakeupirl) on

To get Frankie’s look, Sue suggests the following steps using the Madison Makeup Contour Palette:

STEP 1- On hydrated clean skin, buff a lightweight foundation into the skin

STEP 2 – Brush the brows into shape and lightly fill in with shade Neutral from the Madison Makeup Berry Bold Palette, set with a clear gel

STEP 3 -Using Contour colour 5 & a flat synthetic brush, mark out the areas you want to shade & define, and blend into the skin with a damp sponge

STEP 4 –Mix Contour colours 1 & 4 using a flat brush and paint on areas you wish to lift and highlight, before blending with a damp sponge

STEP 5 -Using fingers, pat the cream Highlighter shade onto tops of cheekbones, centre of nose & on the cupids bow

STEP 6 – Finish this sculpted, glowing skin look by adding a pop of the shade Blusher to the outer apples of the cheeks

STEP 7 –Lightly dust the T-Zone area with powder to reduce any shininess, especially important if you’re being photographed!

But wait… THERE'S MORE!

Brand new for makeup lovers this winter is the Berry Bold Palette, 10 smooth and soft matte and shimmer eye shadows, alongside 4 glowing highlighter shades.

Create a flawless, dramatic look with these intense, high colour pay-off shades. Pro Makeup Artist Sue Brophy designed Frankie’s look with Berry Bold for her exclusive shoot and has shared her step-by-step guide to creating the look:

STEP 1 – Using a jet-black kohl pencil, tight line the top and bottom lash line and then using a small fluffy brush, blend this up onto the lids and lower lash-line bringing, it out into a feline shape. While the kohl is still tacky, place Scarlet all over lid then blend out using a clean, fluffy brush to follow the feline shape.

STEP 2 -Taking a small fluffy brush, blend Berry into the crease and under lower lash line to create a deep berry look.

STEP 3 – Add Velvet to the outer corners to create depth.

STEP 4 – Bring light to the inner corners of the eyes using Fifi and Mia from the highlighter shades.

STEP 5 – Finish the eye look with a slick of gel liner and lashes

And off you go, out on the town!

Following a 90 minute deliberation, a jury in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court found a former UCD student guilty of sexual assault.

The 36-year-old man denied the assault against the Brazilian native, who made contact with people via Tinder in an effort to improve her language skills.

According to The Independent, he court heard that the woman met the defendant in the city centre in July 2014, who then drove her to a secluded area of the UCD campus.

The victim, who had been in contact with the defendant since June 29, grew worried upon arriving in the isolated area as she was under the impression they were going for a coffee.

The woman claimed that after rejecting a kiss from the defendant, he grew aggressive, punched her and exposed her breast.

“He was looking like a monster. His face wasn’t the same face that smiled to me when I got into his car," she said. "He was calling me bad names and trying to touch me. I tried to take his hands away, and I couldn’t."

The court heard that the woman eventually managed to escape the car where she was met by a dog walker who told authorities she was very distressed.

The defendant contradicted the woman's recollection of events, saying that after she didn't return his kiss, he immediately stopped, but she became hysterical.

However, the jury of six men and six women, who listened to eight days of evidence, ultimately determined that the defendant was guilty of sexual assault.

International sportsman, Conor McGregor, has been given two months to pay a fine of €400 following a hearing in Blanchardstown District Court today.

(The sportsman may be a lot of things, but short on cash isn't one of them… thankfully.)

The UFC star appeared in court after failing to pay a initial fine for breaking the speed limit on the Naas Road in March of this year.

.After entering a guilty plea, the 29-year-old Dublin native told the court he can't remember why he didn't pay the first fine in April.

After being told he could pay his €400 fine in instalments  McGregor said: "I apologise and I want to show my respect by showing up today. I apologise."

According to The Journal, the sports star's case had been adjourned on two previous occasions after McGregor failed to appear.

Earlier today, disgraced NBC news anchor, Matt Lauer, issued an apology after allegations of sexual harassment were made against him by female colleagues.

Expressing remorse for his conduct, the Today host said he struggled to find words sufficient enough to communicate his regret.

"There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry," he said at the beginning of his statement.

Allowing himself a moment of introspection, the host then said he needed to take time to consider his behaviour and its implications.

"Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job," he said.

However, social media users are far from impressed with his attempt at an apology, with many asserting he was sorry for getting caught, not sorry for his behaviour.

The TV industry was rocked yesterday following news that Matt Lauer had been dismissed by NBC amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

It emerged that the Today show host had been accused of sexual harassment by female colleagues, leading the network to dismiss him with immediate effect.

Informing staff of the decision, the network’s president for news, Andrew Lack, explained: "On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behaviour in the workplace by Matt Lauer."

"While it is the first complaint about his behaviour in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident."

The public heard that Lauer was remorseful following internal discussions, but had yet to speak publicly on the matter.

Today, however, the TV host issued a statement referring to both his behaviour and his dismissal.

"There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry," he began.

"As I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed."

Acknowledging his family and friends who have been thrust into the limelight as a result of his conduct, the disgraced anchor expressed regret over the repercussions of his behaviour.

"I regret that my shame is now shared by the people I cherish dearly. Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching and I’m committed to beginning that effort. It is now my full time job."

"The last two days have forced me to take a very hard look at my own troubling flaws. It’s been humbling. I am blessed to be surrounded by the people I love. I thank them for their patience and grace."
