The onslaught of horror stories emerging from Hollywood in recent weeks has given Black Swan actress, Natalie Portman, pause for thought.

Initially grateful she hadn't experienced the violence and degradation endured by many women within the entertainment industry, the 36-year-old actress slowly realised that she had, in actual fact, been subject to various forms of threat and manipulation over the course of her career.

Speaking at the Vulture Festival in Los Angeles, the Oscar-winning actress discussed the recent controversies before providing an insight into her experience as a female in Hollywood.

"When I heard everything coming out, I was like, wow, I'm so lucky that I haven't had this," she began.

"And then, on reflection, I was like, okay, definitely never been assaulted, definitely not, but I've had discrimination or harassment on almost everything I've ever worked on in some way."

With more and more women coming forward with their stories of sexual assault and rape, Natalie initially found it hard to place herself within the culture of misogyny, but soon realised she had been exploited many times, although not to the same extent as her peers.

"I went from thinking I don't have a story to thinking, Oh wait, I have 100 stories. And I think a lot of people are having these reckonings with themselves, of things that we just took for granted as like, this is part of the process."

Natalie went onto to tell the audience about an incident with a film producer which left her feeling fearful and manipulated.

Having been invited to take a flight with him, Natalie recalled: "I showed up and it was just the two of us, and one bed was made on the plane."

After communicating her discomfort at the dynamic, Natalie explained that the incident did not escalate, but certainly had an effect on her confidence.

"Nothing happened. I was not assaulted. I said, 'This doesn't make me comfortable' and that was respected but was super not OK. That was really unacceptable and manipulative. I was scared."

"Steph went from being an assistant to being a celebrity," so said a source close to the Kardashian family when questioned about Kim's relationship with her former PA, Stephanie Shepherd.

Steph, who was hired by Kim shortly before North's birth in 2013, has been lauded for the mammoth roles she played in the reality star's life over the course of the last four years.

From overseeing her wedding to Kanye to travelling back to the US with her following her robbery in Paris, Steph has been by Kim's side for almost half a decade, so it's no surprise the public want to know more about Kim's decision to drop Steph from the payroll.

According to an insider, Kim realised the boundaries were becoming blurred, and while she always championed the idea of treating staff like family, in Steph's case it went too far.

"Steph was very friendly with Kim’s family — she was almost part of the family, " the source told People. "Kim needed an assistant where the relationship is more professional."

"It’s very difficult to work with friends, so Kim decided to hire someone else. The bottom line is that Steph was hired as an assistant, and Kim wanted to keep it like that. They are not friends now."

It appears Kim's decision to bring Steph into the spotlight backfired somewhat when Steph's supposed celebrity status detracted from her ability to assist the mother-of-two.

"Steph went from being an assistant to being a celebrity. For a regular girl, she has a huge social media following. She loves the attention, but it took away from her job."

"There was a feeling that being Kim’s assistant, Steph should stay more in the background. But Kim is the one who helped her get the followers by posting pictures with Steph," the source added.

The attention of Keeping Up With the Kardashians viewers was piqued in a recent episode when Kourtney told Kim that Stephanie had hinted she didn't feel entirely fulfilled in her role.

Kim, unsurprisingly, took umbrage with this piece of information, and despite having promoted Steph to COO of Kardashian West Brands earlier this year, ultimately decided to part ways with the Ohio-native.

Officials in the German city of Hamburg have called for the demolition of an enormous concrete swastika which was recently unearthed by construction workers.

It is understood that the Nazi emblem acted as the foundation of a monument which had been torn down in the Billstedt district of the northern city many decades ago.

Construction workers happened upon the swastika while excavating a sports field which is set to house new changing facilities in the sports club at the Hein-Kling stadium.

Unfortunately, the concrete emblem is too large to transport and destroy at another location, so officials have called for the use of jackhammers to destroy it on-site.

The swastika, which is four by four metres in size, was buried just 40 centimetres beneath the surface of the playing field.

Just when you thought the bitterly cold temperatures might hold off for another week or two, Met Éireann forecast a something called a “polar low.”

And while we might not be trained meteorologists, we're going to take a wild guess and say that doesn't sound good.

An area of low pressure looks set to bring wintery showers over hills and mountains on Wednesday night, with temperatures ranging form just zero to three degrees.

Thursday will be another cold day with snow expected to fall over mountainous areas. Daytime temperatures will range from four to eight degrees, dropping to between minus two and plus three overnight.

It's a similar story for Friday, though showers will be confined to northern and western coast, with other areas expected to stay dry with sunny spells.

According to Met Éireann, the further outlook is for continued cold weather with showers, which can only mean one thing – winter 2017 has officially arrived.

It's been nearly 50 years since cult leader, Charles Manson, encouraged four of his followers to carry out a slaying which sent shock waves throughout Hollywood in 1969.

And despite the passing of nearly five decades, the brutal slaying of pregnant actress, Sharon Tate, and her three friends at the hands of the deranged cult followers casts a long shadow.

This was intensified this week following the death of Charles Manson at the age of 83 – an event which caused Breaking Bad actor, Bryan Cranston, to reflect on an unsettling moment in his childhood.

Taking to Twitter and Facebook, the star told followers that Manson's passing brought to mind an encounter he had with him as a child.

"Hearing Charles Manson is dead, I shuddered. I was within his grasp just one year before he committed brutal murder in 1969," Bryan wrote in a post which has amassed 29,000 likes in mere hours.

"Luck was with me when a cousin and I went horseback riding at the Span Ranch, and saw the little man with crazy eyes whom the other hippies called Charlie."

Bryan's post has ignited considerable interest among his fans and followers, with one writing: "I can’t believe we have something so strange in common. My dad and I rode by Charlie too. I herded horses with Shorty Shea, who they killed later. Still gives me the creeps."

Bryan discusses the encounter in more detail on the Nerdist podcast, for anyone who feels like giving themselves a serious dose of the heebie-jeebies.

Following the allegations levelled against stand-up comedian and radio and TV presenter, Al Porter, in recent days, the Tallaght-native has stepped down from various high-profile positions.

In addition to taking a break from hosting Blind Date and  presenting his radio slot on Today FM, it was also confirmed that the 24-year will no longer been appearing in pantomime, Polly and The Beanstalk.

This morning, it was announced that Porter will be replaced by Rory Cowan of Mrs Brown's Boys and Gogglebox fame.

Taking to Twitter, the Olympia Theatre confirmed the change in line-up, writing: "Excited at the news @1rorycowan is on board for Polly & The Beanstalk!"

According to the post, the 58-year-old actor is overjoyed at the prospect of taking part in the production, and thrilled to perform at the iconic Dublin venue.

"Rory Cowan said “I am very happy to be joining the cast of The Olympia Theatre panto. I am a huge panto fan and treading the hallowed boards of The Olympia is a privilege for me”.

Porter's response to the allegations has been mixed, but many have taken umbrage with the focus he placed on his so-called persona.

"He's just being "outrageous" tho. Honestly that statement may top Spacey's," wrote one while another added: "Blame it on the persona…That'll go down well."

P!nk has made no secret over the fact that she and fellow artist, Christina Aguilera, shared somewhat of a strained relationship in the past.

And while P!nk has spoken openly about the issue, she has insisted that neither she nor Christina hold any ill will towards each other these days.

Given her candour on the subject, it's perhaps no surprise the Stupid Girls singer has this week taken umbrage with the current speculation surrounding the pair.

Footage of P!nk's reaction to Christina's American Music Awards performance this week has been widely circulated, with the press and public quick to suggest that the pair's feud is far from dead and buried.

Honing in on P!nk's facial expression at the esteemed award show, social media users suggested that she was unimpressed with Christina's rendition of I Will Always Love You – something P!nk was quick to shut down on Twitter.

"Waking up to see a newly created riff between myself and another incredible woman, Christina, who took on an incredible feat, who I support fully, makes me so sad," she wrote in a post which has been liked thousands of times in mere hours.

Taking aim at those who contributed to the negative dialogue, P!nk added: "You all perpetuate keeping women apart b/c you're afraid of the power we have when we get together."

Agreeing with P!nk, one Twitter user replied: "We need positivity, equality & inspiration. Not negative bullshit to tear each other apart constantly. No wonder this world is in disarray."

The families of five Irish students and one Irish-American student, who died following the collapse of a balcony in the Blackrock Library Gardens apartment complex in Berkeley California, have reached a settlement.

The tragedy, which sent shockwaves throughout Ireland in June 2015, resulted in the deaths of Eoghan Culligan, Niccolai Schuster, Lorcán Miller, Eimear Walsh, and Olivia Burke, and Olivia's Irish-American cousin Ashley Donohoe.

This week, the families of the deceased have reached a settlement, and while the amount itself will remain confidential, the fact that a settlement has been reached will not.

Indeed, law firm, Rains Lucia Stern, have confirmed that the parties are free to discuss the circumstances surrounding their childrens' untimely deaths.

Releasing a statement, Ashley's family have reiterated their mission in the wake of their daughter's death.

"Nothing will stop us from continuing our fight to have changes made to the California building codes and regulations to require regular inspections by qualified people, proper design and use of proper construction materials, and a ban on ‘Secret Settlements’ that allow

This settlement has been reached with the property managers and owners of the apartment complex.

In May of this year, another settlement was reached with the companies that designed and built the building.
