Online fashion company Missguided received international applause when they featured models on their website with visible stretch marks.

It's an industry norm to airbrush out every stretch mark, scar and wrinkle, and so the inclusion  of these 'imperfections' was a welcome respite.

However, fans of the fashion collective began questioning the legitimacy of the marks, and accused the brand of actually photoshopping the stretch marks onto the models.

'I’m sorry, I don’t understand how this brand keeps denying that they’ve photoshopped stretch marks onto this model, but from these two images you can clearly see the marks aren’t the same,' reads one tweet.

'If you’re trying to show natural beauty, don’t photoshop it in.'

'The @Missguided stretch mark pics look weird? weirdly edited?' said another.

Now, the model featured in some of the shots has come forward to confirm their legitimacy.

'I'd like to speak out and let everyone know the stretch marks shown in my images on Missguided are real,' she penned in an Insta post for the behemoth fashion brand.

'I think it's really positive that Missguided aren't photshopping them out – it's important to show young women it's not about striving for perfection, it's okay to have stretch marks.'

A post shared by MISSGUIDED (@missguided) on

'There's nothing wrong with having them, we all do, and shouldn't be something that's covered up.'

Kudos to Missguided for ceasing to edit out stretch marks, a natural part of growing up into into an adult body.

Another win for natural beauty, in our opinion.

Fancy getting more involved in feminist events happening in Dublin?

Fem Fest 2017 is the perfect place to start.

Organised by the National Women's Council of Ireland, the event, kicking off on Saturday November 25, is designed for young woman to come together and discuss dismantling the patriarchy.

We joke, the event is actually about female leadership and engaging women in a discussion about feminine authority.

According to the NWCI: 'The day-long conference will specifically engage young women from the ages of 16-25 to recognise their existing and potential leadership capacity and challenge the barriers they face to grow as leaders.'

'The conference provides a space for young women to discuss the issues that affect them and is attended by young women from a range of backgrounds in urban and rural communities.'

So far, the stellar line up of speakers includes Anna Cosgrave, founder of the Repeal Project, Sinead McSweeney, MD of Twitter in Ireland, Dil Wickremasinghe, Social Justice and Mental Health Podcaster and Louise McSharry, presenter at RTÉ 2fm.

Also speaking will be Sinead Aherne, Captain of the Dublin Ladies Football Team, Demilade Adeniran, a No Hate Speech Campaigner, Síona Cahill, from the Union of Students in Ireland, and Vanessa Lacey, from the Transgender Equality Network Ireland.

The event is completely free, but registration is essential.

The recent uproar surrounding decade-old tweets unearthed from YouTube superstar Zoe Sugg's Twitter proves that deleting those old posts from when you were an idiotic teenager is always a good idea.

The YouTuber, blogger and business woman was on the receiving end of serious backlash, when tweets that she posted a number of years ago were dug up and republished by social media sleuths.

The tweets were penned between 2009 and 2012, and one which offended people in particular was the following:

In other tweets, referring to an unknown person, Zoe also said 'I just saw her Twitter. She needs to get dressed tbh. Lol skank attack.'

She also tweeted that another woman should have '"kept her legs shut" excuse my choice of words haha.'

It is not known what she was specifically referring to in this instance, though Zoe mentions in her apology that she was discussing a TV show.

Another tweet showed her communicating with fellow mega-blogger Tanya Burr, in which she referred to someone as a 'tranny.'

Another tweet has been criticised as Islamaphobic.

In the tweet, Zoe took a picture of a woman in full hijab against her knowledge, and captioned it: 'There's a death eater on my train.'

Zoe, who has over 12 million followers on YouTube, has apologised for the statements that she made.

'I’ve seen a few of my old tweets from 7/8 years ago floating around (which I have now deleted) using words like “chav” “skank” and other words I wouldn’t use now as part of my language and lot of them were taken out of context referring to TV shows but I would never say those things now and I’m sorry if I have offended anyone, that was not my intention,' she said via Twitter.

'Obviously that is not who I am today and I’d like to think I’m a little older and wiser!'

'I’m not perfect and I’ve never claimed to be, I’m only human.'

Fans of the vlogger have rushed to her defence, claiming that Zoe was young and immature when she made the statements (she would have been aged 19-22) and that people change.

'I don’t think it’s fair that people are judging Zoella on tweets from 7 years ago. I used to be quite a nasty person 7 years ago but I grew up and learned from that and so did she,' said one.

However, others have been discussing the damage to the very wholesome brand of Zoella under the '#ZoellaIsOverParty' hashtag.

The apology comes after the online star was forced to defend her advent calendar, which received quite a bit of backlash online for it's price and quality of contents.

We don't know about you, but when it's our time of the month, we feel like we deserve a little bit of special treatment.

So imagine our delight when we heard that one bar (based in Tel Aviv unfortunately) was doing just that for women on their periods?

Drum roll please… introducing Bloody Hour, a concept from Anna LouLou bar which sees women availing of discounted drinks at that time of the month.

'25pc discount on the entire bar, for the entire night on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays,' reads the description.

And before anyone asks how the bar staff would know someone was on their period or not, let us stop you right there.

The entire system is based on trust – if you say it's that time of the month, the staff believe you.

As if our five million hormonal zits and bloated tummy wouldn't give the game away anyway.

'We want women to say, "Hey, I’m on my period," and for it to have a deeper and broader resonance, for it to be legitimate for women to talk about it,' owner Moran Barir told Haaretz.

Think any Irish bars would roll out this concept over here?

Stevie is the first of its kind to be built in Ireland.

Gigi Hadid has announced that she will not be participating in this year's Victorias Secret Fashion Show as was originally expected.

The model has walked in the show for the past two years, and last year was accompanied down the runway by younger sister Bella.

Bella Hadid is still scheduled to walk, and arrived in Shanghai this morning ahead of the show, which will be aired on November 28.

A post shared by SHEmazing! (@shemazingie) on

'I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year,' Gigi wrote to her Twitter followers.

'Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit.'

'Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year.'

Neither Gigi nor Victorias Secret have given a reason for Gigi's absence from this year's show.

However, some online detectives have speculated that iut might have something to do with a problematic Snapchat video featuring Gigi.

In the video, Gigi appears to mock Asian features by imitating a small Buddha mould at a restaurant earlier this year.

When the model announced in August that she would be participating in this years show, a number of commenters said that she would not be welcome in Shanghai, China, where the show will be held, due to her past behaviour.

Commenting has since been turned off on the post.

While speaking at the International Press Freedom Awards this week, Meryl Streep opened up about her own personal experience of physical violence.

After paying tribute to the bravery exhibited by journalists in certain circumstances around the world, Meryl, who turned 68 in June, said: "I do know something about real terror."

In a hugely emotive speech, the Oscar-winner recalled once having to play dead in a desperate attempt to save her own life.

"The two times in my life when I was threatened and dealt with real physical violence, I learned something about life that I wouldn't have known otherwise, and I was lucky because my instincts served me well."

"In one instance, I played dead and waited until the blows stopped. Watching, like people say you do from about 50 feet above, where I was beaten."

Meryl goes onto recall another instance in which she bore witness to an attack on another woman, saying: "I just went completely nuts and went after this man."

The footage, which has been shared on Twitter, has amassed considerable engagement, with one Twitter user writing: "Amazing woman actress and if sharing her experience gets publicised then maybe someone else will know they are not alone."

Let's face it; we have a lot to be grateful for when it comes to our dogs.

From their trust and their loyalty to their warm, soft, cuddly…

Sorry, we got momentarily distracted.

Anyway, in addition to all of these things, apparently we can also thank the adorable little lads for keeping us healthy.

According to a study of 3.4 million people, dog owners have a lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Researchers at Uppsala University in Sweden have posited the theory that this is due to the fact that dogs have the ability to change their owner's  bacterial microbiome by exposing them to bacteria they had not yet encountered.

Commenting on the study, which spanned 11 years, lead study author, Mwenya Mubanga said: "The results showed that single dog owners had a 33% reduction in risk of death and 11% reduction in risk of heart attack."

However, it's worth noting that researchers have acknowledged the fact that previous medical history could play a role in their examination of the issue.

Senior author of the study, Tove Fall, elaborated on this, saying: "There might also be differences between owners and non-owners already before buying a dog, which could have influenced our results, such as those people choosing to get a dog tending to be more active and of better health."

The study has been published in Scientific Reports.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin has taken to Twitter to tell the people of Dublin that they have a special place in the heart of a man who recently visited the Irish capital.

Mark from Lancashire composed a letter which paid tribute to the people he encountered during a recent trip to Dublin – a message which was swiftly shared by Mícheál MacDonncha.

Recalling the events of September 9, 10 and 11 this year, Mark explained that he collapsed on Leeson Street after suffering a brain injury, and was treated with the utmost care, respect and understanding by everyone from the emergency services to the hotel management.

Posting an image of the letter he received, the Lord Mayor wrote: "I received a lovely letter from Mark in Lancashire who asked me to thank people of Dublin, esp the Emergency Services, who helped him after he suffered a brain injury on 11th September."

"He is very grateful all in Dublin who were so friendly and thoughtful to him and his partner."

Mark writes: "I would like to thank everyone in Dublin who attended to me and helped my partner in the awful days after the accident, the Ambulance Service, St. James Hospital and Beaumont Hospital where I had an operation for a bleed on my brain, the Central Hotel on Talbot St, who free of charge let my partner stay for a night."

"I cannot explain how grateful I am to the people of Dublin who have been the most friendly and thoughtful people I have ever met and you must be so proud to be the mayor of such a wonderful city."

"I would be grateful if you could pass on my appreciation to the people of Dublin in any way you can."

Ladies, we're doing something right!

Sylvester Stallone has denied allegations levelled against him by a woman who claims the actor assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel bedroom in the 1980s.

She claims that in July 1986, at the age of 16, she had sexual intercourse with Stallone and his bodyguard after being given keys to the former's hotel bedroom after procuring an autograph from the Rocky actor.

The woman, who felt humiliated and ashamed in the wake of the incident, has asserted that she went to authorities soon after the event, but ultimately decided against pressing charges meaning that the case was dropped.

It has been established that in an effort to verify the claims, the Daily Mail approached retired detective sergeant John Samolovitch from the Las Vegas police department, who reportedly confirmed the existence of documentations pertaining to the allegations.

"She said that after she got dressed, Stallone made the comment to her that they were both married men and that she could not tell anybody about the incident and if she did, that they would have to beat her head in,” a report  is said to read.

The actor's spokesperson has dismissed the allegations, insisting that the actor is only learning of the allegations against him now.

"This is a ridiculous, categorically false story. No one was ever aware of this story until it was published today, including Mr Stallone." Michelle Bega said.

"At no time was Mr Stallone ever contacted by any authorities or anyone else regarding this matter."

The Las Vegas Police Department has yet to comment on the matter.

Last week the entertainment industry was sent into further shock when news emerged that, for years, Louis CK had been abusing his position of power.

The acclaimed stand-up comedian was accused of masturbating in front of multiple women in numerous separate incidents over the course of his career – allegations which Louis ultimately admitted to in a statement soon after the news broke.

And while many considered Louis' apology, which he posted to social media, distinctly lacking in sincerity, one high-profile name is struggling to reconcile the man in the headlines with her long-term friend and colleague.

Sarah Silverman decided to address the matter of sexual assault during a monologue on her I Love You, America show this week, and felt compelled to comment on her friend's involvement in the culture of misogyny.

Insisting that examination of the matter was necessary and something to be welcomed, Sarah acknowledged that the onslaught of reports meant that it was very likely you would learn something about a person you respect which will leave you devastated.

"Let's just say it, I'm talking about Louis," she said. "And I've of course been asked to comment, and in full honesty, I really, really, really don't want to. I wish I could sit this one out, but then I remembered something I said on this very show that if it's mentionable, it's manageable."

"Full disclosure, I'm still processing all this sh*t, but here's where I'm at on it, as of this moment. It could change tomorrow and if it does, I'll keep you posted," she said.

"One of my best friends of over 25 years, Louis C.K., masturbated in front of women. He wielded his power with women in f**ked-up ways. Sometimes to the point where they left comedy entirely."

"I can couch this with heartwarming stories of our friendship and what a great dad he is, but that's totally irrelevant isn't it?" she continued. "Yes. It is. It's a real mindf**k," Sarah admitted.

"I love Louis. But Louis did these things. Both of those statements are true," she said. "So, I just keep asking myself, 'Can you love someone who did bad things? Can you still love them?'"

While Sarah feels a desperate sense of sadness over her friend's decision to exploit and degrade women, she insists that her loyalties lie with Louis' victims.

"So, I hope it’s OK if I am at once very angry for the women he wronged — and the culture that enabled it — and also sad, because he's my friend," she continued.

"But I believe with all my heart that this moment in time is essential. It's vital that people are held accountable for their actions, no matter who they are. We need to be better. We will be better. I can’t f**king wait to be better."

In the wake of the allegations, Louis wrote: "The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly."

"I have been remorseful of my actions. And I’ve tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I’m aware of the extent of the impact of my actions."
