Most people who try to follow a reasonably healthy diet will be familiar with the concept of a 'cheat day' – 24 hours when calories don't count, because hey, you havn't even looked at a square of chocolate in over a week.

One day off won't do any harm, right?

Well, not exactly.

As it turns out, just one day of binge eating can have a huge impact on your body's health.

Researchers from the University of Loughborough asked 15 heathy people to eat a diet high in fat for just one day.

They indulged in three high-calorie meals including, sausages, bacon and fried eggs for breakfast, sausage rolls and cheese sandwiches for lunch, followed by a pork pie snack, then a burger and a chocolate chip muffin.

In total, participants consumed about 78 per cent more calories then the recommended amount, and by the end of the day, their whole-body insulin levels has decreased by 28 per cent.

Researchers say this result in highly “significant”, as over time, the pancreas could become dysfunctional, leading to an increased risk of type two diabetes.

The study concluded: “A single day of high-fat, overfeeding impaired whole-body insulin sensitivity in young, healthy adults. This highlights the rapidity with which excessive consumption of calories through high-fat food can impair glucose metabolism, and suggests that acute binge eating may have immediate metabolic health consequences for the individual.”

So, perhaps it might be better to spread your treats throughout the week…

US rapper Nelly has taken to Twitter to protest his innocence after he was accused of raping a woman on his tour bus.

The singer, real name Cornell Haynes, said he is “beyond shocked” following his arrest in the early hours of Saturday morning, insisting he is a “victim of a false allegation.”

“After Patrol Officers investigated the incident, at 4.37am Nelly was taken into custody.”

Khloe Kardashaion has had one hell of a week on Instagram, for both good and bad reasons.

First up, fans of the KUWTK star are convinced that Khloe has revealed her baby bump in a new campaign shot for her denim company Good American.

The image shows Khloe in a skin tight leather dress, posing with her arm over her stomach.

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on

'Yesssssss she is pregnant can’t u see her bump,' said one fan.

Others disagreed with the pregnancy rumours, putting the curve of Khloe's tummy down to a peplum-style top or lighting.

'She has no bump people – shuuuuuuut up,' one said.

The snap comes after another of Khloe's Instagrm photos was deleted.

Khloe posted another campaign image for Good American, one which depicted model Slick Woods kneeling beside her.

Fans quickly took offence to the image, branding it racist and claiming it mirrored master-slave positioning.

'Maybe if Khloe has a different pose and facial expressions it wouldn't portray the Master and the Slave,' commented one fan, according to Bustle.

The image was quickly removed.

'Thank you for deleting that disrespectful photo depicting a Black woman cowering down at your feet,' said one Instagrammer.

'Please think twice before posting, there was a message within the message and you apparently and ignorantly missed it, but that's what a team is for – they failed you too.'

The Pussycat Dolls were a major part of our secondary school years.

From belting out Buttons while slapping on the pan stick for a disco to crying over our teenage breakup to I Hate This Part, we were obsessed.

Much to our teenage delight, Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly confirmed that she will be reuniting with her old gal pals for a Pussycat Dolls reunion tour.

The band parted ways back in 2009, which was meant to just be a break to assess creative differences, though the band was plagued with rumours of bitchiness and personality clashes.

Carmit Bachar was the first to leave the group in 2008.

However, the girl band never got back together, and its members went about their separate lives.

Being a woman on the internet can be stressful at times, thanks to the onslaught of unsolicited dick pics many women have to deal with.

Whether it's in your Instagram DMs, from an unknown Snapchat account or even emailed to you, there is nothing quite so confronting as seeing the peen of a stranger in high definition on your screen, especially when you didn't ask for it.

It's offensive, upsetting and disturbing, and one Twitter user, Maura Quint, reported this issue to Twitter after receiving three dick pics from three accounts run by the same person.

According to Maura: 'A guy just created three accounts with the same name and same avatar, @'d and dm'd me the same dick pic from each account.'

'Reported all three, got three different replies.'

Maura then published screenshots of Twitter's responses to her report.

One said that the account had been locked because of the unsolicited penis pic.

'We have reviewed the account you reported and have locked it because we found it to be in violation of the Twitter Rules,' said Twitter in the first response.

However, another said that the accounts were not in violation of the Twitter community guidelines.

'We reviewed your report carefully and found that there was no violation of Twitter's Rules regarding abusive behaviour,'

'We’re now taking action on 10x the number of abusive accounts every day compared to the same time last year,' Ed Ho, Twitter's consumer product and engineering manager, in a recent blog post.

'We also now limit account functionality or place suspensions on thousands more abusive accounts each day.'

This poses the question: How does Twitter decide what is or isn't offensive, when it seems the site itself can't agree?

Up until now, we have been forced to designate our Victoria's Secret underwear shopping to our inconsistent trips to Terminal 1 in Dublin Airport.

Long has the question been asked: 'Why is the only Irish Victoria's Secret at the airport?'

Seriously, we have been tempted to book ourselves a cheapo boarding pass just to get in and shop the goods.

However, the long-standing BT2 store on Grafton Street has been under renovation for close to a year now, as preparations are made to open a brand spanking new VS store.

Calls went out for new employees a number of months ago, and those jobs have been allocated.

The store will be opening it's lace-decorated doors in December, according to VIP.

The flagship store is rumoured to carry the entire underwear selection along with the brand's PINK line.

Just in time for us to buy ourselves a Christmas present, we say.

Bella Thorne has been very open about her sexual orientation, after telling the world via Twitter last year.

The former Disney star has also shared snaps of herself kissing both women and men, and has never been afraid to be unequivocally herself when it comes to her sexuality.

However, the actress has opened up to Stylecaster to discuss her struggles with dating women.

A post shared by tanamongeau (@tanamongeau) on

'It's so hard,' Bella told Stylecaster.

'I can't tell if a girl is trying to be best friends with me or if she wants to get with me or if she just wants social media followers.'

Bella also told the online mag that she ends up dating men more frequently than women, as she never knows if potential female partners are being flirtatious or just want to be pals.

A post shared by BELLA (@bellathorne) on

'I don't want to make a move, and then you be like, ‘Whoa, girl. Not what I was thinking, I don't roll that way.' Then it's so awkward.' she told StyleCaster.

'So I end up usually dating more guys, because with guys, I know if a guy's hitting me up.'

'They're not just texting me to be my bestie. I know they want something, of some sort.'

A post shared by BELLA (@bellathorne) on

'If I like somebody, they know. It doesn’t matter if you’re a guy or a girl.'

Bella also spoke out about her difficulties dating women in the show biz industry, as many of them are not out yet, and so refuse to go on dates.

'A lot of girls are not out, especially if they’re in the industry, which is most of the people that I know. Then they’re, like, “Oh, no. We can’t date. We can hook up.”'

Police in the US are appealing to anyone who might have any further information on the Las Vegas shooter in an unusual manner.

Five days ago, 58 people were killed in the shooting spree, making it the most fatal mass shooting in recent American history.

A further 500 were injured, either by the gun fire or by being caught up in the panicked crowd.

In an attempt to gather more information, the police force and the FBI have hired a communications company to create billboards appealing for people to come forward.

'If you know something, say something,' is the chosen slogan for the billboards.

They will also carry a free phone number to an FBI hotline where people cn leave tip offs or information which may assist in the development of the investigation, according to RTE.

'We have not stopped, we will not stop until we have the truth,' said Clark County Undersheriff Kevin McMahill.

The investigation has so far received more than 1000 leads in the case.

Police believe the gunman may have had some assistance with the accumulation of such a massive amount of weapons, after a large number of guns, ammunition and explosives were found both in his hotel room and at his home.
