London is bursting with amazing neighbourhoods and exciting boroughs – but our heart certainly lies in Clapham.

Home to a large number of Irish, Clapham is like a city in itself, with no shortage of bars, restaurants and café.

One thing we really love about gorgeous Clapham is the brunch – SO many amazing choices.

Anyway, we decided to do a round up of our favourite brunching spots in this sensational part of London.

1. Brickwood

Founded in 2013 by Jayke Mangion from Melbourne, Brickwood quickly became one of the most authentic Aussie cafe experiences in London. Quality food, coffee and service sit equally while all pulled together with a cozy feel and great playlist.

Need to try: Native Mushrooms (you won't regret it!)

2. Jack's at the Junction

Jack’s is our favourite local independent café – popular purveyor of posh nosh, good honest grub and classic quick bites to eat since 2010. All of their dishes are specials, from hearty breakfasts, champion baked spuds and proper main plates to their trademark leafy salads and gourmet stacked sandwiches.

You can eat in or take out, either way, a warm welcome awaits just a minute’s walk from Clapham Junction station. Jack’s is the perfect place to catch up with friends, recover from the night before or relax in your lunchtime.

Need to try: the Chorizo Benedict.

3. The Breakfast Club

The first Breakfast Club to open South of the River is bright and beautiful, having taken inspiration from a 50′s kitchen and an 80′s launderette.

Serving up all day breakfasts from pancakes and Huevos Rancheros to lunch and dinner dishes like salads, fried chicken and waffles, tacos and short rib mac and cheese. Check our their monthly Bingo and Quiz nights!

Need to try: the PANCAKES (wow).

4. The Clapham North

Exposed brickwork, booth seating and a newly refurbished outside area, sets the perfect scene whether you are looking to prop up at the bar for a cheeky pint or a space to enjoy a delicious brunch with the gals.

Honest but delicious pub food is served all week with brunch taking centre stage on weekends alongside bloody good Bloody Mary’s, craft beers and cocktails. Sundays are best spent with friends sharing a ‘Swingers Roast’, or why not pre-book a ‘host a roast’ party complete with your very own chef’s hat to take away?

Need to try: the Breakfast Burrito.

5. Balans Soho Society

The Balans Soho Society live by the philosophy that too much of a good thing is a good thing, the best plan is no plan and that the pursuit of pleasure is a noble one. Even if the pleasure itself might not be.

Need to try: The Soho Full English.

Is there anything more satisfying than a well-deserved post-work pint?

Sometimes a little tipple is just what's needed to unwind after a long day on the grind, and as we're slowly but surely seeing that little stretch in the evening, thoughts of mid-week gatherings and bright beer gardens are begging to creep back into our minds.

But luckily, we live in a city  packed with pubs just waiting to welcome us after along, hard day – here's just some of our favourites.

1. The Beach Tavern, Irishtown

Nestled in the heart of Dublin 4, The Beach Tavern is your quintessential Irish pub, brimming with the craic and character you need after a long week. Great drinks, great atmosphere and most importantly Great prices. Simple.

2. Anseo, Camden St.

A quick hop, skip and jump from the Luas, decent draught and bottled beer, sweet tunes and the odd woofter dog there too.

3. Pmacs, Dundrum

Board games, pool table, old school arcade games and seating designed to imitate an early 20th century 'living room' – what more could you want?

No matter how much someone claims to love what they do for a living, we ALL have those days when we wonder if the grass is truly greener on the other side.

Whether it's a disagreement with a colleague, a difficult customer or just one of those days when you'd rather be anywhere but your desk, it's easy to assume that all your problems will be magically solved the moment you hand in your notice.

For the most part, we move on from these mini mental break-downs and get on with our jobs, so what are the reasons people leave their jobs for good?

Lack of opportunity to advance

At the end of the day, everyone wants to make to the top of their chosen career. The idea that we must start at the bottom and work our way up is widely accepted and, for the most part, totally fair – but what do we when all our hard work doesn't actually pay off?

A study conducted by LinkedIn showed that career advancement is the number one reason people seek employment elsewhere, with 45 per cent of those surveyed admitting it was a concern they held.

Poor communication

Research shows that employees who engage in regular meetings with management are far more enthusiastic about their jobs – which, to be honest, makes a lot of sense.

No one likes to left in the dark when it comes to their workload and an open line of communication makes for easier conflict resolution.

No work/ life balance

Remember, you work to live, you don't live to work.

Sure, if you're lucky enough to land your dream position there will be times when you're happy to take on some extra responsibilities, but we must never underestimate the importance of our personal time.

Whether it's a massive work load or unsociable hours, an uneven work/life balance is one of biggest contributors to job dissatisfaction.

Feeling under appreciated

It can be extremely frustrating when you feel like your achievements are not being recognised, and even more frustrating when only your mistakes are highlighted.

If an an employee feels underappreciate they are more likely to seek recognition elsewhere.

Low salary/ wage

This one is a bit of a no-brainer, but according to research conducted by EY, "stagnant wages" were cited as one of the top reasons full-time workers quit their jobs.

As much as we'd all like to think we'd like to think that the number in our bank accounts doesn't dictate the kind of life we'll lead, the fact of the matter is that we've got rent to pay and mouths to feed.

There are few things more closely associated with one another than the Fifty Shades series and kinky sexcapades.

However, if you're looking forward to sitting in the dark among strangers to watch glorified porn for two hours, the third cinematic instalment will leave you disappointed.

While there were a number of steamy scenes in the film, one question was on my mind after seeing Fifty Shades Freed – where was all the riding?

As someone who has read the books, which include 10-page long passages highlighting the various aspects of Ana Steel and Christian Grey's sexual encounters in excruciating detail, frankly I was expecting to be titillated by Hollywood endorsed erotica.

However, the third instalment of the film trilogy was definitely in the romance category, rather than an adult drama.

While there were a number of sexy scenes, it seems that marriage was the nail in the coffin of Mr and Mrs Grey's exploration of extreme BDSM.

While the first sex scene did see Ana handcuffed by the wrists and ankles, the following sex scenes were devoid of the various BDSM elements one has come to anticipate from the franchise.

There was only one single, solitary and playful pat on the bottom from Christian to Ana as opposed to the fully fledged spanking sessions in previous films and literature, and while screen time was dedicated to a drawer full of butt plugs and a blindfolded Ana on a St Andrew's cross, equal if not more time was committed to the pair's missionary exploits.

So unexciting were the sexual elements of the film that in one scene which featured Dakota Johnson's character creating a trail of Ben & Jerry's ice cream down her husbands torso to create a dairy-laden pathway to mutual oral, I honesty felt offended by the flagrant wasting of ice cream.

Image result for fifty shades

There's an additional subplot to the film which sees Jamie Dornan's character develop from a classic controlling misogynist to essentially not being an a*shole.

In the opening dialogue, Ana and Christian can be seen soaking up the sun on a nude beach on their honeymoon.

Understandable, Ana wants to remove her bikini top to tan the tatas, but her now husband forbids it, and even attempts to shame her by pointing out that his bodyguard will see her. When she goes against his wishes, he makes them leave the beach.

Later in the film, we see his attitude change as he begins to 'allow her' to wear the clothes she chooses, which is apparent in his appreciation for a low cut sequinned dress she dons. However, when purchasing the guna, Christian's reaction to it is in the back of her mind, creating this undercurrent of foreboding over his controlling nature.

However, if you're looking for a romantic film with a thriller edge, Fifty Shades might be right up your alley.

It's ultimately a romance with a feel-good ending and a healthy amount of deviating plot lines to keep viewers intrigued.

It's recommended that you watch the previous films first, as a number of plot lines are continued in the third flick which aren't given the back story that would be required for someone just dipping into the franchise with the third film to understand.

The Nude look is in, with 2018 trends paying tribute to highlighting features of the face, capturing light whilst creating a glow to the skin.

It’s all about clear skin, a minimalist eye and nude lip, a celebration of a look so subtle it’s barely there.

Last year, Kim Kardashian launched her KKW Beauty brand, and the Internet went crazy for it.

However, as gorgeous as the brand is, it does not come cheap – and by the time you've paid for shipping and VAT, you may find yourself half broke.

Well, the Penneys GODS have blessed us with a cheaper, but just as wonderful alternative to KKW Beauty.

Primark Beauty is challenging the “norm” and championing diversity, celebrating you, for the individual.

Their new PS… Nudes range is NEXT LEVEL, with so many seriously amazing products to try.

First up we have the PS… Nudes Highlight and Contour Kit, with contour and highlight duos for precision application, and a gorgeous sponge/ brush combo to blend and buff to perfection. Finish with a touch of light with the brow highlighter to lift the whole look.

Then there is the majestic Highlight and Contour Palette that contains smooth blendable powders that help you build a perfect base that's barely there, but with an added glow.

We also NEED to talk about the eyeshadow palette, because sweet Jesus it is GOOD. With an amazing 28 buildable, blendable shades you can create a look to suit your mood, from barely there to a sultry nude smoke, and everything else in between.

Did we mention that the 28 SHADE palette costs a tenner? We're salivating.

There are gorgeous nude lipsticks and matte liquid lippys in colours to suit absolutely everyone.

Anyway, if you need us, we'll be in Penneys, filling our baskets FULL of this amazing new collection!

With Longitude and Forbidden Fruit revealing their line ups in recent weeks, we're already looking towards festival season.

However, there's another kind of festival that's caught our eye, kicking off in Dublin.

The Pizza & Prosecco festival is happening on June 9, and the clue is in the name

The festival will be celebrating Dublin's best wood fired pizza, all washed down with a glass (or five) of bubbly.

'Get your slice of fun while you sip on bubbles to a singalong sound track that's cheesier then your pizza topping,' reads the event description.

Each ticket includes one deliciously refreshing Aperol Spritz and a slice of pizza, as well as entry.

There will also be DJS performing, as well as live acts and performers.

The event is over 18s only, as 20 types of prosecco will be on offer.

You can register for tickets here.

OK, so we're officially half way through February and the weather has yet to show any signs of improvement.

Although we might have great intentions of getting outside and actually doing something with our weekends, the bitter temperatures and hair-destroying winds make duvet days all the more tempting.

And who can blame us?

I think we can all agree that a cosy Netflix marathon trumps a 5k run any day of the week, but to be honest, we're starting to develop a bad case of cabin fever.

So, to combat this, here's five ways to enjoy the great outdoors even when it feels like we're living in an ice-box.

1. Work on your photography skills

It's a bit of a cliché, but nowadays everyone has a camera in their back pocket.

Whether you take a road trip down the country or re-discover your local area, you'd be surprised what you can create with 12 megapixels and a creative eye.

There's Instagram worthy photo-ops around every corner – you've just got to know where to look.

2. Walk in the woods

Ireland is full of magical woodland areas just waiting to be explored, and with the trees providing natural shelter from the wind and the rain, it's the perfect way to spend a lazy February afternoon.

Bonus points if you bring your dog pal along for the adventure!

3. Visit an outdoor market

They're not just for Christmas time you know.

Spend the afternoon strolling around one of the countries thriving market places (our favourites include the Fairyhouse Sunday Market in Meath and Cork's Blackrock Sunday Market) – grab a coffee, eat some delicious home produce, and who knows, you might even find a few treasures along the way.

4. Go for a game of tennis

OK, here me out. Whether you're a complete beginner, or have repressed memories of the KitKat summer camp, you'd be surprised how much satisfaction you can gain from whacking a ball full-force 70 ft down the court.

Plus, given that it's not exactly the cornerstone of winter sports, public courts are always available this time of year.

5. Heated beer gardens

Is there anything better than a good old-fashioned people watching session?

Grab your closest gal pals, select your prime location and catch up over a few well-deserved pints.

Utter bliss.

Ed Sheeran has reportedly been asked to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, the same day he is due to perform in Dublin's Pheonix park.

According to US Weekly, the singer has already been approached by the Royal couple, though it it not yet known whether her accepted the offer.

A source told the publication: “Prince Harry has personally requested Ed perform at his wedding”.

While this may come as one of the greatest honours of Ed's career so far, the news sparks disappointment for many Irish fans.

The Royal wedding falls on the same Ed is due to perform the last of three gigs scheduled for Dublin's Pheonix park, though given the short flight time between Dublin and London, it's possible that the 26-year-old could do both in the same day.

Kensington Palace announced earlier this week that the wedding ceremony will begin at midday at St. George's Chapel, followed by a private reception for close friends and family.

Ed is yet to comment on the news, but we're hoping the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity doesn't put the Dublin gig in jeopardy.

A HIV diagnosis is no longer the death sentence it was once assumed to be. Thanks to the work of devote researchers and advances in modern medicine, there are now a far more options available for who are living with the virus.

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a medication shown to dramatically reduce the risk of contracting HIV (over 85 per cent), was made available, on private prescription, through Irish pharmacies last December for the first time.

However, new research conducted by Gay Community News, on behalf of Teva Pharmaceuticals Ireland, has found that 30 per cent of respondents did not know or were unsure whether it was available in Ireland.

As a result, 57 per cent of those currently taking PrEP are sourcing the drug from unregulated online providers.

The study was launched as part of the new PrEPLoveLife campaign, which launches today, Thursday, February 15.

Designed to increase awareness of PrEP amongst groups most at risk of HIV infection and transmission, the campaign also aims to inform the general public on the overall positive effect PrEP has for modern day Ireland.

What's more, the survey also found that just 18 per cent of respondents has an STI test at least every three months, 24 per cent do so every six months, 38 per cent at least once a year, but 19 per cent rarely or ever do.

While PrEP does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections or pregnancy, and it is not a cure for HIV, it is recognised as a powerful HIV tool when combined with condoms and other methods.

Regions where PrEP is used widely have seen significant decreases in new cases of HIV, however in Ireland the incidence of the virus continues to increase, with 29 new cases being diagnosed in the first five weeks of 2018 alone.

Commenting on today’s survey results, Sandra Gannon, General Manager of Teva, said: “Today’s the day after Valentine’s Day and while the build up to Valentine’s Day talks to love and romance, it’s important to remember afterwards that the risk of contracting HIV remains a real one for many.”

“While, thankfully, the disease can now be more effectively managed than was once the case, reducing the risk of infection in the first place should be a priority.”

As a Parisian living in Dublin, it didn't take long for me to spot the differences between my sense of style and my Irish girlfriend's. First, my hair is never done. Second, I wear a lot more black. Thirdly, I wear more makeup on a daily basis, but WAY less on a evening out.

That might shock you, but Irish girls are actually much more into fashion than us French, in the seasonal meaning of it. In Paris especially, we don't care that much about trends, what we are looking for is style.

As Coco Chanel herself once put it: "La mode se démode, le style jamais" (basically, fashion goes out of fashion, style never does).

The number one rule of Parisian style (and probably the only valid rule) can be summed up in one simple word: effortless.

Parisian girls do not want to look like they put a lot of thinking into their look, either in their clothes or in their makeup. We like natural, I-woke-up-like-this kinda style.

Our favourite makeup look? By far, the no-makeup makeup.

In all fairness though, a Parisian girl can also spend hours moaning in front of her closet because she has NOTHING to wear. She is human after all, and far from perfect.

What would really differentiate us from Irish girls is that most Parisian would go out at night in the exact same clothes they would wear during the day. They might go for a red lip to look a bit done but that's pretty much it. In general, Parisian style is quite understated and plain compared to Irish style. Think minimalist accessories and simple well tailored clothes.

To help you tackle the Parisian look, here are some basic items you need in your closet. I know, that's a LOT of black.

Now, have fun with the mix and match!
