Today is National Pizza Day – one of the most important holidays of the year in our opinion.

Anyway, in celebration of this fine, fine day – we hit the streets of Dublin to sample the best of the best.

5 restaurants, 12 pizzas and a SERIOUS food coma later – and here we are!

Let us know what you think!

1. Big Blue Bus

The Big Blue Bus is a 1979 double decker bus converted into a pizza restaurant based at the Bernard Shaw, 11-12 Richmond Street, Dublin. The Big Blue Bus is open 7 days a week.

The Big Blue Bus bakes delicious gourmet stone pizza, garlic bread, bruschetta, desserts, Moroccan teas and more. The Big Blue Bus also offers shisha pipes for that little something different.

The Bus is available to book for private parties where you can book the whole top deck for you and your friends. The Bus is also available to book for dinner any night of the week.

Happy #nationalbestfriendday to my #1

2. Moss & Gray

Dating back to pre war times of 1931, Moss & Gray started their business of purveyors of fine tea, sugars, wines, coffees along with other speciality foods. They supplied the hotel industry along with the aristocracy society of Dublin and surrounding areas. Moss & Gray were the first in the area to deliver their products by motorcar, while everyone else used horse and cart.

Located in the heart of Temple Bar, this brand new pizza joint continues the tradition of supplying wonderful food and drinks to the public.

Having only opened it's doors in recent months, Moss & Gray is still somewhat of a hidden gem – but seriously worth a visit!

We strongly recommend you get yourself one of their signature hazelnut espresso martinis along with your pizza… a winning combination.

School uniforms have been used as fashion statements in the past – think Britney Spears in the 'Baby One More Time' video – but who thought they'd be dressing their kids in luxury brands for school?

The Taimei Elementary School in Toyko's upscale Ginza shopping district plans on introducing optional Giorgio Armani uniforms in April.

The full set comes at 80,000 yen a pop (about €590), which is three times more expensive than current school attire. The move has raised eyebrows of parents and government officials alike, Harper's Bazaar reports.

"I was surprised and wondered why such luxury uniforms have been picked for a public elementary school," one mum told Huffington Post Japan.

"I‘m worried that a wrong notion that something expensive is good and something cheap is bad could be imprinted on children," she continued.

The dress code change for incoming students was made known in a letter last November. In the letter, headmaster Toshitsugu Wada also hailed the school as a 'landmark' in the area.

Another landmark in the area? Armani's head office, which is a mere 656 ft. away from the school.

Government education officials are not pleased with the school's change in uniform.

In parliament, the officials discussed how, while school principals are free to set school rules and uniforms, this new policy in Taimei Elementary School did not have the consensus of the parents.

Following backlash against the Armani uniforms, the headmaster shared a statement on the school's official website.

"With humility, I take the criticism that explanation has been insufficient and not well-timed," it stated, "I will go on explaining carefully to those concerned."

He says there will be an explanation on uniform arrangements, though it remains unclear if the Armani ensembles will be mandatory.

What would you do if such a policy was put in place at your child's school?

So, what’s the difference between pancakes and crepes? The main difference is that pancake batter has a raising agent in it, such as baking powder or baking soda, and crepe batter doesn’t. This means that pancakes are thicker and fluffy while crêpes are thin and flat. Generally, pancakes are associated with being ‘American-style’ while crêpes are the European take on the breakfast favourite.

There you have it now, every day is a school day!

Gino’s Gelato has 15 locations nationwide including Galway, Waterford, Arklow and Newbridge as well as 11 stores across Dublin. The FREE crêpes will be available in ALL stores offering a crêpe service.

Arrive early to avoid disappointment!

This is NOT a drill people!

So as we know, Queen Bey's Lemonade was a massive success (Amen!)

As a result of the album's popularity, a university in America announced it will offer an entire class on the subject.

The University of Texas at San Antonio will offer it's students a class entitled "Black Women, Beyoncé, and Popular Culture."

Emmm… sign us up immediately?

Students of this class will study "the singer's ode to 'black womanhood' and how it relates to 'theoretical, historical, and literary frameworks of black feminism.'"

The course will focus mainly on Lemonade, and will "follow the album's progression all the way from Formation to All Night."

The lecturer is Kinitra D. Brooks, who is a scholar of race, gender, and horror.

This is AMAZING.

Do you ever wish you could sit back and devour an entire tub of ice cream, without the guilt?

We're not big believers in the 'guilt' concept, and usually if we decide to polish off loads of ice cream – we bloody well will!

However, it is comforting to know that on occasion, there is a healthier alternative that still satisfies that sweet tooth.

Enter – Ben & Jerry's for the absolute win!

The Kings of frozen treats have launched a delicious range of low calorie ice cream – and we're excited.

Most of us are still attempting the 2018 health kick, so this is the news we need.

Moo-phoria light ice cream will account for HALF of calories that a normal tub of Ben & Jerry's contains ( just 140 to 160 calories per serving.)

Take into consideration that a banana has 110 calories – make the right choice.

The delicious sounding flavours include 'chocolate milk and cookies', 'caramel cookie fix', and 'P.B dough'

Still not entirely convinced?

Well, there's  also 60% to 70% less fat and sugar in these lovely new tubs, and no sugar substitutes.

Moo-phoria light ice cream is also made with organic dairy – so really, it would be rude NOT to eat it.

Pass the spoon.

The London Irish Abortion Rights Campaign estimates that more than 40,000 Irish citizens living abroad could be eligible to vote in the immanent abortion rights referendum, according to The Irish Times.

Under the Electoral Act 1992, Irish people may retain full voting rights for a period of 18 months after moving away, should they intend to return to Ireland within that timeframe.

Armed with this information, The London-Irish ARC have launched the Home To Vote campaign, encouraging Irish people abroad to head back to the Emerald Isle to vote in the referendum.

'The Home to Vote campaign is a great initiative to make Irish voters living abroad aware of their rights to vote on the upcoming repeal the eight referendum,' said Dr Jennifer Kavanagh, Law Lecturer at Waterford Institute of Technology.

'Irish people who are living abroad are eligible to vote for a period of 18 months after leaving Ireland if they intend to come back to Ireland. Considering that the 8th Amendment has affected people for the past 34 years it is important that anyone that intends to come back to Ireland to live can express their opinion on this issue.'

'The impact of Irish people living abroad on the forthcoming referendum will probably be bigger than the marriage equality referendum.'

A post shared by Repeal Project (@repealproject) on

'It is essential that everyone has their say on this matter and informing those that live abroad of their franchise and exercising  their voting rights will have a big impact on the overall vote.'

The campaign hopes to get Irish men and woman passionate about women's rights home to vote in time for the referendum.

Those of us who have worked in office environments know that there's always someone on the team from time to time who doesn't take the job too seriously.

Whether they like to do their makeup in the elevator mirror before work to hide the hangover or come down with far too many 'colds' in order to mask their late night-induced croaky voices, stumbling upon a session moth in the workplace can be a correspondingly frustrating and amusing feat.

Comedian Emma Doran has condensed the plight of the workplace session moth in her latest Facebook skit and it had our office in stitches.

From her prolonged trips to the loo to her terrible tardiness – we've all known one in our lifetime.

A new study published in the journal Scientific Reports found that a couple glasses of wine a day actually cleans your brain.

Consuming alcohol in low doses can help the brain rid itself of toxins, including those associated with Alzheimer's disease. Low levels of alcohol consumption also help to tamp down on brain inflammation.

The researchers noted that consuming large amounts of alcohol is still detrimental to one's health, with lead author Maiken Nedergaard, M.D., D.M.Sc. saying: 'Prolonged intake of excessive amounts of ethanol is known to have adverse effects on the central nervous system.'

'However, in this study, we have shown for the first time that low doses of alcohol are potentially beneficial to brain health, namely it improves the brain's ability to remove waste.'

These findings join previous research that has shed light on the advantages of consuming low amounts of alcohol, including reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Maiken, who is the co-director of the Center for Translational Neuromedicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), examined the effects of alcohol upon the workings of the glymphatic system in the brain.

The glymphatic system is the brain's unique cleaning process. It uses cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) to clear away waste, including the proteins beta amyloid and tau, which are linked to dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

The study, conducted using mice, examined the differences between mice that were exposed to high levels of alcohol for long periods of time and those that received low doses for long stretches of time.

Mice in the acute alcohol exposure group experienced cognitive impairment and their motor skills deteriorated. The team also found that these mice exhibited high levels of a molecular marker for inflammation.

In the meantime, the mice in the lower-dose group showed less brain inflammation. These mice were consuming the equivalent of about two and a half glasses of wine daily, and their glymphatic systems showed marked improvement in efficiency.

'The data on the effects of alcohol on the glymphatic system seemingly matches the J-shaped model relating to the dose effects of alcohol on general health and mortality, whereby low doses of alcohol are beneficial, while excessive consumption is detrimental to overall health,' Maiken observed.

'Studies have shown that low-to-moderate alcohol intake is associated with a lesser risk of dementia, while heavy drinking for many years confers an increased risk of cognitive decline.'

'This study may help explain why this occurs. Specifically, low doses of alcohol appear to improve overall brain health.'

Cheers to that.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently came under fire because of a comment he made during a Q&A session at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada.

A young woman in the crowd asked him a question at the university regarding volunteering regulations.

Towards the end of her query, she said: 'Maternal love is the love that's going to change the future of mankind.'

Justin swiftly responded: 'We like to say peoplekind, not necessarily mankind because it's more inclusive.'

'Exactly!' the woman then replied.

While the politician's interjection garnered a round of applause from the audience, people on social media were not so receptive.

A number of people mocked his comment as 'PC culture gone mad'

The Canadian leader has long championed feminist causes, having the first gender-balanced cabinet in Canada and openly discussing how he's raising his kids to be feminists.

Some, however, thought that his 'peoplekind' interjection amounted to mansplaining.

The truth? Well, the father-of-three explained that it was just a bad joke gone awry.

We knew dad jokes could make us groan, but who knew they could spark controversy?

'You all know that I don’t necessarily have the best of track records on jokes. I made a dumb joke a few days ago that seems to have gone a little viral,' the 46-year-old told reporters in Ottawa, according to Reuters.

'It played well in the room and in context. Out of context it doesn’t play so well and it’s a little reminder to me that I shouldn’t be making jokes even when I think they’re funny,' the prime minister concluded.
