Monthly Archives: February 2018

If, like us, you have been good all week (or kinda), you will feel like it is time for a well-deserved treat.

Made with a healthy amount of one of our favourite chocolate bar, this cheesecake is pure indulgence and happens to be quite easy to make. The worst part is that once it is all done, you have to let it sit in the fridge overnight (that's in theory, we only managed to wait for 3 hours…).

Toblerone cheesecake

INGREDIENTS

For the base

  • 400g bourbon cream biscuits
  • 150g butter, melted

For the filling

  • 400g soft cheese
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 500ml cream, lightly whipped
  • 300g Toblerone, melted

For the topping

  • Toblerone chocolate, roughly chopped

METHOD

Line the bottom of a 23cm cheesecake tin with parchment paper.

Place the biscuits in a food processor and pulse until it turns into fine crumbs. Add the melted butter and pulse. Transfer the mixture into the tin and press it down into an even layer. Refrigerate.

Whip the soft cheese, melted Toblerone and the sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped cream  and pour the mixture over the biscuit base. Refrigerate overnight.

To decorate, top with chopped Toblerone.

2018 is the year of the TV reboot, and frankly we're here for it.

From our childhood favorites to the sitcoms we watched on the sly, some of the best TV shows from the 90s and early 00s are making their way back to our screens one way or another:

Will & Grace

Beloved sitcom Will & Grace is making a return to our TV screens with the original cast signed up for the reboot.

The return is limited edition, with a run of a single 16-episode season.

My Super Sweet 16

The infamous MTV show it's making its way back, and we cannot wait.

And better still, it's not going to be based around ludicrously rich 15-year-olds anymore, and will instead focus on people "coming of age."

"MTV cordially invites you to My Super Sweet… and extraordinary television event featuring the most important day of your life marked by the greatest of celebrations – Sweet Sixteen, Quinceanera, Debutante Ball, Debut, or any other coming of age milestone event – if it's going to be lit, we want to know about it!" said a MTV press release.

Kylie Jenner kept us all in the dark during the final few months of her pregnancy – surprising everyone with her Instagram announcement of her first child Stormi.

Although Kylie shared much of what she got up to during the pregnancy in a YouTube video about the past nine months, one area it didn't cover was Kylie's work life on Kylie Cosmetics.

The KUWTK star decided to work on a very specific collection project during her pregnancy – one completely dedicated to her baby daughter.

A post shared by Kylie Cosmetics (@kyliecosmetics) on

Dubbed the Weather Collection, the entire line is inspired by Stormi and her unique metrological name.

Before Kylie's leave of absence on social media, there was much discussion in the online beauty community that Kylie's makeup brand had somewhat lost it's edge in the industry thanks to the triumphs of other innovative brands like Fenty Beauty and Jeffrey Star Cosmetics.

However, the electrifying Weather Collection Kylie has just presented on social media is all the evidence we need to show that the makeup mogul is still on top of her game.

Kylie's makeup line has always been one which gives customers and followers of celeb and influencer makeup trends exactly what they want – in 2016 that was a mauve lip kit, in 2017 it was a berry eye shadow palette, and now in 2018 it's a high shine, amped up, unapologetic collection covering everything from matte lipsticks to glitter eye shadows.

While KKW Beauty is all about keeping things natural, glowy and always nude, the Weather Collection is a literal breath of fresh air and a zing of energy amongst a beauty landscape of tired neutrals.

Let's break down the collection product by product so you get the gist of what I mean.

First up, lets discuss the packaging,. It focuses on contrasting shades of black and electric yellow with splashes of holographic lettering and graphic print cases.

The makeup casings come in clashing colours like iridescent navy, grey and hologram, and the entire effect gives off very Urban Decay Vice palette meets niche, independent Etsy makeup brand vibes.

The 'I' in Kylie has been replaced with a lightning bolt throughout the collection.

There are no lip kits in the collection, instead we have three new formula matte lipsticks.

The first shade is a throwback to vintage 2014 Kylie, with blue tipped hair, 'over lined' lips and flannel shirts tied around her waist.

It's a matte black called Nightfall, and seems to be the more mature development of one of her early lip kits called Dead of Knight – a product that was dogged with bad reviews due to it's less than perfect formula.

However, Nightfall is described as being a 'traditional' matte lipstick with an opaque finish – exactly what the customers clamoured for after in their feedback for Dead of Knight.

While I did complain earlier about the saturation of nude, neutral makeup on the market earlier, I'll allow Kylie to get away with the next two colours and call them a balancing act for Nightfalll.

The two other matte classic lipsticks in the trio are a deep nude and a light nude, nicknamed Cosmic and Nova (interestingly enough, Nova was one name that Kylie blogs predicted she might call her baby, so perhaps it was a contender after all).

While these lippies are pretty, they're the least interesting aspects of the new collection.

Staying with lip products, Kylie has also created a high shine, early 00s lip gloss that 2006 Paris Hilton would buy in bulk.

The Flash Glitter Gloss glimmers holographically, amd I'm thinking it would look pretty good as a lipstick topper over any shade of lipstick, or as a statement, stand alone gloss.

The collection wouldn't be complete without a few highlighting products, and Kylie's cult loose highlighting powder line is getting a new addition in the form of the  Lightning Bolt Ultra Glow.

The highlight threatens to outshine the already existing highlighters with its eccentric yellow and gold undertones, combined with silver flecks.

Never one to do things b y halves, Kylie is also using the Weather Collection to introduce a new Wet Set pressed powder highlighting palette, with four warm highlighter pans.

This is where the most attentive packaging detail comes in – the palette exterior is designed with a cloud graphic print, and a select few of the stormiest looking clouds are – wait for it – fluffy.

'I worked on this pretty much throughout my entire pregnancy,' she said on Instagram Stories.

'I spent a lot of time on this collection and I put a lot of detail into it.'

While Kylie's previous eyeshadow palettes have been in response to makeup trends, be they online ones or those started by the mum-of-one herself, Kylie's latest two are a step away from the now typical nude, brown and warm-toned palettes we see on every beauty guru in the land.

The Calm Before The Storm Palette contains a variety of pairs of matte and shimmer shades, in a selection of colours from lavender to mustard to peach.

The colours are strong and bold while staying fresh and feminine, and the name fits perfectly into the weather theme, as well as being reminiscent of the typical description of pregnancy being 'the calm' before the arrival of a newborn.

A post shared by Kylie Cosmetics (@kyliecosmetics) on

The Eye of The Storm palette, however, is where things get interesting.

This palette is a strong, bold combination of deep navy shimmers, striking canary yellows, icy silvers and jet blacks mixed in with base nudes you can build the dramatic shades on.

The colours are so deep and pigmented, we can see them being used with a wet angled brush as eyeliner.

It's not exactly the most wearable palette for everyday, but its the perfect antidote to the warm and neutral shadows that are dominating the beauty trend sphere at the moment.

A post shared by Kylie Cosmetics (@kyliecosmetics) on

Now, maybe it's just me, but the EOTS and the CBTS palettes combined are giving me serious Anastasia Beverly Hillls Prism and Subculture Eyeshadow Palette vibes.

The ABH Subculture was a hotly anticipated palette released a few months ago – but with slightly disastrous results.

Customers and beauty gurus alike complained that the shades were beautiful but crumbly AF- the fall out close-up shots from the palette were pretty shocking.

Now, the brand has since rectified the consistency issue, but perhaps Kylie spotted an opportunity to create sough after shades in  the right texture? Just a conspiracy theory, but the colourway is quite similar.

The Prism Palette, Subculture Palette and the Eye of the Storm and the calm Before the Storm combined both have soft peaches, nudes, lavenders, strong yellows, glitter greens and jet matte blacks.

While the colourway similarities are probably a coincidence, or a response to customer demand, it's worth noting that with the go-ahead from both Kylie Cosmetics and ABH, neon yellow eyes may be about to take over from berry-toned smoky shadows.

Keeping with the eyeshadow theme, Stormi also inspired her Mum to develop four new glitter creme eyeshadow shades.

The Glitter Eyes Eyeshadow Duos are getting serious hype over on the Kylie Cosmetics Instagram.

The packaging is complete ed with little lightning bolt motifs – and the duos compliment the rest of the collection perfectly.

Destiny and Violet Moon, a combo of brown and blue, are ideal for a night out look, while Twinkle Twinkle and Superstar could be used as highlighters as well as eye shadows.

Overall, the collection is to Kylie what a sexy nude Instagram picture is to Kim – a declaration that she is back, better than ever and still more than on top of her game when it comes to hyping and selling out a makeup collection in seconds, new industry competition be damned.

The collection drops on February 28, and we can only predict that much like her early launches, the Weather Collection will sell out in seconds.

Welcome back, King Ky.

Have you ever wondered about the best time of day to get some sweet loving?

Well, if you have, we reckon you're about to be surprised.

Apparently, the best time of day to have sex is after you work out (we know, the exhaustion!)

What Zodiac Sign Are You Most Compatible With In Bed? These Are The 6 Best Matches, Because Scorpios And Capricorns Are In For A Kinky Time | Bustle

“You’re feeling strong in your body, and you’re accomplished for having done the work at the gym,” says Jane Greer, New York–based marriage and sex therapist.

There's more to it than just feeling great, as you will have lower levels of anxiety (exercise is awesome in that respect) making your body ready to get down.

What else, I hear you ask?

http://weheartit.com/entry/215426705

Well, after you hit the gym, it is scientifically proven that you'll be more aroused. Basically,  exercising boosts circulation, and the increased blood flow to your vagina can result in more lubrication.

#SCIENCE.

According to Aline Zoldbrod, a Boston-based sex therapist, your confidence levels will be higher after hitting the gym, which will ultimately result in better sex.

“If you go to the gym and feel more desirable and happier with your body, it can have a direct effect on how good you feel about being sexual.”

Ultimately, your orgasms may also be better also!

If you focus somewhat on your pelvic floor muscles during your workout, you won't regret it. These may “enhance your vaginal tone and ability to have a good, strong orgasm” (over time, mind you.)

Hit the gym folks, your sex life will thank you for it!

Now more than ever, brides are opting for less traditional weddings.

A great way for brides to ignore tradition is through their dress (yes, really) – with more and more wives-to-be opting for a colour, rather than white.

We've seen everything from black and pink dresses, to dip dyed gowns and sparkling dresses.

However, the results are in on what is expected to be 2018's most popular non-white dress – and we're here for it!

Champagne dresses, ladies! That is the most popular gown shade of 2018, excluding the traditional white, of course.

With a 358% increase in searches over 2017, champagne is the wedding dress colour brides are loving in 2018!

We can't help but love this shade, because while it is non-traditional, it isn't world's away from white – so  you'll still somewhat feel like a traditional bride.

I'll be the first to admit that I've never been a huge makeup addict. As long as my spots are covered, lashes are full and eyebrows are filled, I'm pretty much good to go – and that's only if I have time in the morning.

In saying that, there is one beauty product I refuse to leave the house without – a good mascara.

As someone who is naturally quite fair, my bare eyelashes are pretty much transparent to the naked eye, and while I don't exactly hate how they look, I do prefer to add at least some definition.

I've had them tinted once or twice, but to be honest, the dye makes my eyes sting and the upkeep is more hassle than it's worth.

Instead I tend to invest in good quality mascaras to make eyes pop – which is why I couldn't wait to get my hands on Benefit's new BAD gal Bang!

Benefit are a brand I find myself going back to over and over again – (no really, I can't even begin to tell you how many cases of Brow Zings I must have gone through over the years) – and it looks like I may a have found a new favourite to add to the list.

I'm probably a marketer's dream consumer in that I'm a sucker for pretty packaging and anything shiny, so BAD gal Bang! caught my attention right from the get-go

The pink and black branding promises a 'bigger, badder, volumizing mascara' – which, lucky for me, is exactly what I'm looking for.

The tapered rubber brush takes the stress out of application. It's streamlined design means you can easily reach corner-to-corner on both your top and lower lashes.

The silky smooth formula is derived from space technology (which is pretty damn cool if you ask me) and is made using aero-particles, one of the lightest known materials – meaning the product doesn't feel like it's weighing you down

What's more, it's smudge-proof, water-resistant and blacker than black.

Check out the before and after pics below:

The mascara claims to last for 36 hours, and while I didn't conduct a full test on this theory, I did keep in on for about 18. (Yes, that means I fell asleep with it on – but it was for science, OK?)

Needless to say, when I woke up I didn't exactly look catwalk-ready, but the mascara was definitely still on, that's for sure.

Final verdict: Going on my previous experience with Benefit products and the rave reviews among the blogging community, it's safe to say that I went into this with pretty high expectations – but I wasn't disappointed.

Within seconds of the wand hitting my lashes I knew this was going to be my new go-to product. Even with no other makeup on I felt like as if my entire face has been given the lift it so desperately needed on a weekday afternoon. Even my boyfriend noticed there was something different and that's saying something.

My lashes looked fuller, longer and of course, A LOT blacker – and while the same can be said for many of the mascaras on the market, the staying power and easy application offered by BAD gal Bang! make it a cut above the rest.

All in all, I can safely say that it will remain a permanent part of my makeup collection for the foreseeable future.

You can pick up your own life-changing tube for just €27.99 at Benefit counters around the country or you can order online here.

Full disclosure: We went out and bought this amazing mascara, and reviewed it! This article is in no way sponsored by Benefit, we just LOVE the product!

Time and time again, we find ourselves scrolling through Spotify looking for our favourite lady jams.

It's time consuming and kind of annoying – so we decided to do something about it!

Currently, we have about 40 songs on it, but we are so open to suggestions. Have a song you love? Let us know, and sure we'll add it on for you.

We're also going to add 5 songs to the playlist every week, and we'll keep you updated.

This week, we created a poll asking what song you'd like added. The winner? Destiny's Child, Survivor.

So we added that, and 4 other TUNES for you!

 Rejoice!

The weekend is almost here, and while we'd love to say we have a schedule packed with cute brunches, intense gym sessions and lots of home cooking, the reality is that we'll spend the next 72 hours sprawled out on the couch watching episode after episode Tipping Point.

Which, to be honest, doesn't actually sound like a bad time. But, if you are planning to spend the next few days glued to the television, you might as well catch up on some of the incredible series available to stream right now.

From satirical crime dramas, to real-life documentaries, here's our top pick of Netflix's most binge-worthy series'.

1. The End of the F**king World

Based on a graphic novel of the same name by Charles Forsman, this British dark-comedy isn't your usual tale of boy meets girl.

The script follows James, a 17-year-old who believes himself to be a psychopath, and Alyssa, a rebellious classmate, as they embark on a road trip in search of her real father.

2. American Vandal

Satire at its absolute best, this 'true-crime' series explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left twenty-seven faculty cars vandalized with phallic images.

The story follows an aspiring sophomore documentarian as he investigates the controversial and potentially unjust expulsion of troubled senior (and known d*ck-drawer) Dylan Maxwell.

The addictive American Vandal will leave one question on everyone's minds until the very end: Who drew the d*cks?

3. When We First Met

After failing to win over the beautiful Avery, Noah spends the next three years wondering where it all went wrong.

But everything changes when he discovers a way to travel back through time and relive the night they first met over and over again until he gets everything perfect.

4. Last Chance U

The Netflix original documentary series follows the staff and players on the football program at East Mississippi Community College.

Each player has incredible talent and drive to be the best, but each face their own unique struggles both on and off the field.

As tensions begin to rise between the players and coaches, each member of the unconventional team is reminded what's at stake.

5. The Sinner

Superbly portrayed by Jessica Biel, a young mother tries to find out what's causing her to have violent tendencies.

Petra Hammesfahr's novel of the same name, The Sinner tell the story of  Cora Tannett who, after inexplicably stabbing a stranger to death, finds herself at the centre of a murder trial.

Full of suspense, twists and and 'OMG' moments, this eight-part crime mystery is the perfect for a lazy weekend in bed.

Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you an adorable baby giraffe.

The currently unnamed creature was born on Tuesday at Dublin Zoo.

The female giraffe is already over 6 foot tall, despite being a baba.

The calf was born to mother Maeve and father Tafari.

Her birth is a serious celebration at Dublin Zoo, as fewer tan 670 of her kind exist in the wild, according to 98FM.

Her arrival even caught the attention of the Taoiseach, who tweeted about the birth of the 'new constituent.'

'The giraffe calf is very lively and is engaging positively with the rest of the herd,' Dublin Zoo's Helen Clarke-Bennett told Buzz.ie.

'Mother Maeve and her calf are healthy and Maeve is doing an amazing job of looking after the new arrival.'

'We’re very excited about this addition to the Dublin Zoo herd and to see what the rest of the year will bring.'

We implore you not to panic BUT cheese is basically the elixir of life (like we didn't already know!).

According to a study published in the Nature Medicine journal the compound called spermidine can be found in cheese.

This amazing compound can also be found in food such as peas, beans and whole grains, and science says that those who consume it are more likely to live longer.

SAY NO MORE LADS.

The study also claims that eating mature cheese can help combat heart failure and high blood pressure… woohoo!

These beautiful scientists first analysed their theory using mice, and then they surveyed Italian people and their diets.

Not that we needed an excuse, but thus is some GOUDA news…

Pass the parmesan please.

We were thrilled to hear that Sabrina The Teenage Witch was going to be rebooted by the CW.

The iconic series was one of our favourite shows back in the 90s, so you better believe we're expecting big things from its' resurrection.

The series is set to be a lot darker than the original show, taking inspiration from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics.

The coming-of-age series will follow Sabrina’s life as she comes to term with being half-witch/half-human.

The upcoming cast have big shoes to fill with Melissa Joan Hart and Caroline Rhea starring in the original series

Kieran Shipka has been confirmed to play Sabrina, with Wonder Woman star Lucy Davis set to star as Aunt Hilda.

Speaking of the casting, the Mad Men actress shared: 'It’s going to be really dark and really cool, and have this very like macabre take on everything. I’m really pumped to be a witch. Who wouldn’t be?'

Taking on the role as Sabrina’s aunt Zelda is Homeland actress Miranda Otto.

However, the beloved aunts will be extremely different to the Helda and Zelda we know and love.

According to Variety, Zelda Spellman will be a stern and strict aunt to Sabrina. She believes that there is no greater honour than serving the Dark Lord.

Zelda is extremely protective of her young niece being described as the most disciplined member of the family.

The entire series may be darker and spookier than the original, but we cannot wait to tune in when it eventually airs on Netflix.

No air date has been confirmed for the untitled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina adaptation, but Netflix has ordered two seasons of the bewitched show already.

With such a strong cast, it's safe to say this series will be spellbinding.
