Dublin City Council has allocated €100,000 for free period products in their 2020 budget.

Period products will be made available in all council buildings, including libraries, swimming pools and community centres.

Labour councillor Rebecca Moynihan proposed the initiative.

“With over 50% of young women and girls struggling to afford products; homeless women not being able to afford or indeed access sanitary products regularly and women in direct provision having to fight to get adequate products, it is so important that this initiative has received cross-party from councillors on Dublin City Council,” she stated.

“If the Government were serious about eradicating period poverty they could take two serious actions in the next budget. Firstly, they could introduce free sanitary products in schools. It is a scandal that young girls are missing school because they cannot afford sanitary products.

“Secondly, the Government should examine the VAT on sanitary products that aren’t pads and tampons. Having a broad choice of products available at a lower price point benefits all women.

“Periods are not a luxury for women and girls. It is a part of everyday life and we need to make life easier for those who may be vulnerable positions,” she stressed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their two year engagement anniversary this week and we can’t believe two years have already passed since that special day.

In honour of the milestone, Harry and Meghan posted a never-before-seen photo from their wedding day. The candid snap is truly breathtaking.

The photo was taken after their ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor last May.

They also shared a photo from the day they announced their engagement and when they introduced their son Archie to the world.

The image was captioned ,”On this day, two years ago:

"27th of November 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the news of their engagement, later becoming Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex! They have since celebrated their wedding anniversary and welcomed their son, Archie, into the world.”

The parents are set to head to the USA for their first Thanksgiving as a family-of-three. It is believed they’ll celebrate the holidays with Meghan’s mum Doria.

They will not be spending this Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham. Earlier this month, royal officials revealed they will be spending the holidays with Doria.

There’s no doubt Harry and Meghan are looking forward to their first Christmas with little Archie.

And it’ll be extra special as they head back to Meghan’s home for the festivities.

Bad news for fledgling relationships – science says that if you're not careful, new love could cost you your closest friendships.

There is nothing better than the first few months of a relationship – the time spent dating, learning more and more about one another and the excitement of a dalliance with a new person in the bedroom.

However, science says that if new lovers aren't careful, they could end up neglecting their friendships and lose some of them all together.

According to research led by Robin Dunbar, head of the Institute of Cognitive and Evolutionary Anthropology at Oxford University, for every new relationship a person embarks upon, they lose two close friends. Not ideal.

'If you go into a romantic relationship, it costs you two friends,'  Dunbar told The Guardian

Dunbar's previous research suggested that most people have five very close friends. However, those who get into relationships end up with only four.

'Those who have romantic relationships, instead of having the typical five 'core set' of relationships only have four. And of those, one is the new person who's come into their life.'

Finding new love is exciting, amazing and can be all-consuming, and it's totally understandable that when you get a new partner, you want to spend all your time getting to know them.

However, keeping on top of your current friendships with those who have always been there is vital to avoid losing them to your new girlfriend or boyfriend.

Spending time cultivating a new romantic relationship can leave current strong friendships by the wayside to wither.

A recent poll shows that 92% of people have been ditched by their best friend for a boyfriend, so that's a lot of friendships which have the potential to be ruined by new love.

We’ve got a love/hate relationship with Riverdale. It is one of the most ridiculous shows on TV yet we can’t stop watching it (trust us, we’ve tried!)

Season four has been as crazy as ever before and it has honestly left us baffled. These kids are 17! Why are they fighting criminals? Following murderers? And running a business?

The show is absolutely surreal and a lot of the storylines are so far fetched, but this latest fan theory has blown our minds.

Fans believe Jughead is actually writing a book and everything happening in the show is actually just a figment of his imagination.

Image

It makes so much sense, right?

Jughead is the show’s narrator after all so this theory is pretty believable. One of the first things Cole Sprouse’s character says in season one is;

“This story is about a town, a small town and the people who live in the town…"

One fan explained the theory on Reddit: "That's why the episodes are "Chapters", and why Jughead is narrating the opening and ending of each episode. This is all part of his novel(s)."

We have to admit we’re loving this theory because Riverdale can be a little too ridiculous at times, but it is our guilty pleasure.

A new episode of Riverdale airs on Netflix every Thursday.
