The Royal Family have gathered at Buckingham Palace for Her Majesty’s special Christmas lunch.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the event with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis this afternoon.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked as beautiful as ever in a dress by her go-to designer Emilia Wickstead.

The mum-of-three wore a plaid dress with a white collar and puff sleeves to the Queen’s Christmas lunch. It is the perfect look for a Christmas celebration.

She also wore a pair of Cavalfiore pearls by British jewellery designer Cassandra Goad.

The family were in high spirits as they joined Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, The Duke of York, Prince Charles, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, and Zara and Mike Tindall for the festive lunch.

Kate drove into Buckingham Palace with Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte in her car. William was joined by Prince George, who sat next to his dad in the front of the car.

The family-of-five are expected to spend Christmas at their home in Anmer Hall in Norfolk. They will then join Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in Sandringham.

This Christmas, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will join their parents on the walk to St Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas Day.

According to The Sun, the youngsters are old enough to join The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the special tradition.

A source said, “It will be so sweet. George and Charlotte will make their Christmas debut, as long as they're both on good form on the day. It's the picture all royal fans want to see. The royals walking to church on Christmas Day is a rite of passage and so William and Kate didn't want to expose their children too early, but they feel they’re old enough now."

Most of the time, relationships and excess alcohol consumption do not go hand-in-hand. If you’ve ever had to sit through a blazing, gin-fuelled row between your friend and her boyfriend you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.

So, when the time for The 12 Pubs of Christmas rolls around, the idea that a row between yourself and your own boyfriend somewhere between the 1st and 12th pub certainly isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.

Someone will have seven G&T’s too many (you) and someone else will think that spilling a pint on your new bag isn’t a cause for tears (him), all of which lead to a furious, face-melting row under the Christmas lights, in front of the pub and beside the other rowing couple.

Here are the 12 stages of 12 pubs with your beloved.

Pub 1: Nerves

Remember what happened last year when his Guinness met your new jeans in the 1st pub and his mate tried to score your mate?

Maybe this isn’t such a good idea.

Pub 2: Concern

Dear God, maybe this really is the biggest mistake of all time considering how YOU get after five wines and how HE gets when his Christmas jumper becomes too scratchy.

Lord, he's itching already.

Pub 3: Excitement

No! We’ve all learned from last year.

His mate said he’d keep his hands to himself, you’ve promised not to cry and your boyfriend has sworn that Captain Morgan’s won’t pass his lips this year.

Pub 4: Joy

You’ve hit pub #4 and it couldn’t be going better! Festive cheer galore!

Would you look at his flushed cheeks, I want to kiss them off!

Pub 5: Drunkeness

You've made it to pub #5 and everyone’s getting into the spirit a little too enthusiastically.

You’ve seen him neck a Captains on the sly after he promised not to and you’ve already had a cry in the toilets with your bestie who’s home from Oz.

Pub 6: Further inebriation

You're halfway there and his mate is already making a move on your mate, but it’s not the same one as last year!

Now, that’s just rude.

Pub 7: Complete intoxication

It's the 7th pub and the phrase ‘Get a room’ has been thrown at you and your other half for the first time in your lives.

What! Those bright red cheeks are just too sexy, dammit.

Pub 8: Frustration

So, you’ve hit pub #8.

You’ve already been heard trying to order a triple wine after yourself and himself had a furious, whispered ‘discussion’ in the corner of the pub because he forgot to clink your glass while saying ‘Cheers’.

Pub 9: Despair

This is where it truly starts to go downhill. You can’t find him in a sea of Christmas jumpers and he can’t find you in a sea of swaying girls wearing Christmas tree earrings.

You’re never going to make it out of here alive.

Pub 10: Anger

He PROMISED to wait for you outside every pub if you didn’t leave together and you PROMISED not to leave via the fire escape.

You’ve both failed on each count.

Pub 11: Elation

You’ve found him. He’s found you. You’re with all your friends, you’re celebrating the festive season and who cares that one of you has already puked?

Isn’t this what Christmas is all about?

Pub 12: Relief

You’ve done it! You’ve made it to pub #12 and you’re still in a relationship.

You think…

The Duchess of Sussex has been voted the most unfairly treated person in the UK.

A survey, which was conducted by PlayOJO, revealed that Meghan came out on top when thousands were asked who they felt had a particularly difficult year.

Other contenders included Greta Thunberg, Ant McPartlin and Queen Elizabeth.

The actress has constantly been ridiculed by the public. Her every move has been scrutinised and every word twisted.

No matter what she did, she was attacked, insulted and slated.

She quickly became one of the most disrespected women in the UK, despite doing nothing wrong.

She supported the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, became Patron of animal welfare charity The Mayhew, helped design a clothing collection in aid of Smart Works and became Guest Editor for the September issue of British Vogue.

Personally, Meghan became a mum for the very first time. She gave birth to her and Harry’s first child in May.

However, despite all of this, Meghan was constantly heckled and shamed by the public, even during her pregnancy.

She spoke out about the constant hatred in an interview with ITV: “Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable. So that was made really challenging and then when you have a newborn … especially as a woman, it’s really, it’s a lot.”

"So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed."

When asked how she was coping, Meghan replied: "Thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m ok, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes."

Let’s hope 2020 is an easier year for Meghan.

The parents of Nóra Quoirin have called on the Irish Government to assist them in securing an inquest into the death of their 15-year-old girl.

Nora tragically died of intestinal bleeding – likely caused by hunger and stress – after she disappeared in August. The teenager was on holiday with her family when she went missing in the Dusun rainforest resort.

Her parents have stressed that they need to find out the truth about Nora’s death. They said that her disappearance was out of character.

Speaking to RTÉ, Meabh and Sebastian Quoirin revealed that they had a promising meeting with the Department of Foreign Affairs this week.

"For us something very complex happened. We have insisted from the beginning that we believe there was a criminal element to what happened.

"While a post mortem, when it comes through, may give us answers, and has already given us some basic answers around what caused Nóra's death, it doesn't explain any of how she could possibly have got to where she was found."

"I think we will be living with the horror of what happened in Malaysia for the rest of our lives,” they added.

The parents understand that finding out the “whole truth” won’t be easy, but vowed to try.

The Christmas holidays are a hectic time of the year. We can get wrapped up in the merriment and festivities that we often forget to take care of ourselves.

To ensure you don’t burn out this Christmas, we reached out to the lovely Anna Geary who is working with Zenflore on a campaign which is focused on helping to manage stress during busy times.

A post shared by Anna Geary (@annagcork) on

Anna said that self-care is the one gift you need to give yourself this Christmas. She understands the pressures young women are under, especially when we’re exposed to Instagram every day.

Anna stressed that one thing you must do is not to compare yourself to others. Seeing the girl you went to school with is on the trip of a lifetime in New York when you’re sat at home in your pyjamas can knock you back, but Anna reminded us that comparison is the thief of joy.

She said: “Your chapter One is someone else’s chapter 20. Remember that, so just focus on you.”

“We  often  look at  social media  and see perfection  everywhere and we can  compare ourselves to that false reality. Stay in your own lane.”

“Don’t  worry about  others, they are  on a journey you know nothing about,  with their  own obstacles  and challenges.  Don’t assume and don’t judge. It wastes precious energy,” Anna shared.

Another thing that helps the GAA player feel mentally and physically better is to simply be kind to herself.

Self-care isn’t just about facemasks and Gossip Girl marathons. You need to take care of your body and mind and nourish it, especially during these dark, colder months.

A post shared by Anna Geary (@annagcork) on

“Sometimes  you need to  take a ‘time out’  unexpectedly. Cancel that gym session or brunch date and just take time for you. It’s not selfish. We all need to push the reset button every now and again. Don’t feel guilty about doing that. It happens to everyone.”

It’s an indulgent time of the year but don’t forget to give your body some TLC amongst the turkey sandwiches and Roses.

Anna recommends taking a food supplement each day, like Zenflore, as it will help provide support for your mind and body during this demanding time of the year.

Don’t be ashamed to take a step back and have some time to yourself this Christmas. It can be a joyous but draining time for many so remember to take care of yourself, it’s the best gift you could receive.

For many of us the festive season acts as the perfect excuse to cosy up in front of the fire and politely reject any invitation that involves leaving the house – after all, they don't call it the most wonderful time of the year for nothing.

And while some of us might be content spending the winter months catching up with friends and family over copious amounts of chocolate and wine – some singletons have a very different agenda altogether.

If dark evenings and cold temperatures leave for longing for a winter cuddle buddy then welcome to cuffing season!

Think about it.

How many times have you, or someone you know, settled in with a romantic partner over the yuletide period, only to completely lose interest by the time spring rolls around?

Cuffing season leaves people itching to find a partner in the later half of the year, because hey, no one likes to be lonely at Christmas.

Speaking to The Independent, the Passion Smiths director said: “Singles who display this type of dating pattern are unable to commit.”

“They use summer fun and friends as an excuse for this pattern, but in reality it is because they are unable to form lasting romantic bonds.”

“They may have the illusion they can settle down whenever they want to, but they can’t and until they do decide they want a lasting relationship will they realise they are unable to; that’s when I’ll see them in my office.”

And while all this has definitively given us something to think about, we refuse to let the fear of cuffing keep us from finding the ultimate festive romance.
