Yearly Archives: 2019

Kelvin Fletcher may have been the last minute replacement on Strictly Come Dancing but the former Emmerdale star has swiftly become one of the top contenders for this year’s glitter ball trophy.

Viewers were stunned by his saucy Samba and mesmerised by his wonderful Waltz in the first two episodes and now we can look forward to the dad’s cheeky Charleston.

Kelvin and his dance partner, Oti Mabuse have been rehearsing their new routine all week but the dad enlisted the help of one very adorable family member and the video is bound to melt your heart.

Proving that he has been squeezing dance practice into every second of the day, the dad danced around with his adorable son Milo in his arms.

Plenty of famous faces attended the wedding of Justin and Hailey Bieber on Monday, but there was one very special (and very little) guest in attendance.

Stormi Webster joined her mum, Kylie Jenner at the celebration and she looked too cute for words.

Kylie shared a photo of her daughter, whom she shares with ex Travis Scott, in the most darling pink dress. Stormi looks like a little ballerina in the pink tulle and sequin dress. The youngster's dress was designed by Isabella Couture.

The one-year-old gave her mama a kiss in the heartwarming snap that was taken before the wedding in South Carolina.

Kylie looked every inch the goddess in a striking gold gown and metallic strappy heels.

The business woman is currently taking a break from her relationship with Stormi’s dad, Travis Scott.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made their first public appearance since announcing they are suing the Mail On Sunday.

The couple continued their work in Africa as they arrived in Tembisa, a township in Johannesburg.

On the final day of their tour, Harry and Meghan met  young entrepreneurs at a hub that helps create opportunity, and is a hive for creativity and social enterprise.

Speaking at the engagement, Prince Harry said that his family’s trip to Africa has been inspiring.

“It’s moments like today and meeting all of you, that inspires us. Whether supporting young entrepreneurs, empowering women and girls, or challenging the issue of gender-based violence; whether it’s been planting trees, clearing landmines, or protecting the most beautiful creatures and places on the planet, these experiences have affirmed our love of Africa, and the issues that are so important to us.

He added, “We will firmly stand up for what we believe. We are fortunate enough to have a position that gives us amazing opportunities, and we want to do all we can to play our part in building a better world.”

“We will always seek to challenge injustice and to speak out for those who may feel unheard. So no matter your background, your nationality, your age or gender, your sexuality, your physical ability, no matter your circumstance or colour or of your skin – we believe in you, and we intend to spend our entire lives making sure you have the opportunity to succeed – and to change the world,” the Duke added.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they are pursuing legal action against the Mail on Sunday after they published Meghan’s private letter.

Prince Harry issued a moving statement tonight where he revealed he has watched his wife suffer in silence over the past few months and he won’t stand for the media’s bullying anymore.

He wrote, “My wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences – a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son.

“There is a human cost to this relentless propaganda, specifically when it is knowingly false and malicious, and though we have continued to put on a brave face – as so many of you can relate to – I cannot begin to describe how painful it has been. Because in today’s digital age, press fabrications are repurposed as truth across the globe. One day’s coverage is no longer tomorrow’s chip-paper,” Harry stressed.

“Up to now, we have been unable to correct the continual misrepresentations – something that these select media outlets have been aware of and have therefore exploited on a daily and sometimes hourly basis.

“It is for this reason we are taking legal action, a process that has been many months in the making. The positive coverage of the past week from these same publications exposes the double standards of this specific press pack that has vilified her almost daily for the past nine months; they have been able to create lie after lie at her expense simply because she has not been visible while on maternity leave.

The Duke said the behaviour of the British tabloid media has been disturbing and destructive, “The contents of a private letter were published unlawfully in an intentionally destructive manner to manipulate you, the reader, and further the divisive agenda of the media group in question. In addition to their unlawful publication of this private document, they purposely misled you by strategically omitting select paragraphs, specific sentences, and even singular words to mask the lies they had perpetuated for over a year.

Harry added, “There comes a point when the only thing to do is to stand up to this behaviour, because it destroys people and destroys lives. Put simply, it is bullying, which scares and silences people. We all know this isn’t acceptable, at any level. We won’t and can’t believe in a world where there is no accountability for this.

“Though this action may not be the safe one, it is the right one. Because my deepest fear is history repeating itself. I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”

The case against Associated Newspapers will be privately funded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Riverdale is the show we love to hate. The teen drama has got to be one of the most complicated and cheesiest shows on TV but we just can't get enough of it.

We've been itching for the show to return since that creepy season three finale.

We have so many questions that desperately need to be answered. The main one being- where on earth is Jughead? Is he even alive?

Who knows.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief as the autumn time is officially here which means most of our favourite shows are set to return, including Riverdale.

We only have to wait a few more days to wait until Archie, Betty and co. return to Riverdale as it hits Netflix on October 10.

Season four will feature an emotional tribute episode to Luke Perry, who played Fred Andrews on the show until he tragically suffered a stroke last year.

There's no doubt fans will be taken aback by the emotional episode.

A brand new episode of Riverdale will air every Thursday at 8 am.

October is officially here and we are so ready to embrace the autumn time. The bright evenings have left us so trips to the beach are few and far between, but we'll still be kept busy in October. We're talking Hocus Pocus movie night, reading books by the fire and drinking way too much hot chocolate.

We'll also be turning the house into an autumn treasure trove. There'll be pumpkins and colourful leaves everywhere you look and nothing can stop us. We're nearly tempted to follow in Zoe Sugg's footsteps and buy an autumn wreath and some hay bails for the front porch.

Too much?

Bloom and Wild reveal how you can revamp your Halloween decorations with these pretty pumpkin vases. It's time to invite a friend over and get crafty together.

Make your flowers really stand out with a vase like no other.

Floral stylist, Amelia Christoffers said, "Pumpkin vases are a fun autumnal alternative to a classic vase"

Step 1: Cut a hole in the top of your pumpkin

Step 2: Scoop ut the innards, replace with wet floral foam

Step 3: Add your blooms and foliage

We are a nation of coffee lovers with 3 in 4 drinking an average of two cups of coffee every day and a third drinking three cups or more daily. That’s according to a new report by Bewley’s, Ireland’s leading coffee and tea company.

The report into Ireland’s coffee habits was carried out to mark International Coffee Day and examines coffee consumption, purchasing habits and consumer attitudes on the environmental impact of coffee culture in Ireland.

Conscious coffee

While as a nation we love our daily cups of coffee and 33 percent say they buy coffee on the go, we’re also conscious of our carbon footprint.  This is more prominent among the younger generation with nearly 50 percent of 18-34- years olds compared to 31 percent of over 55-year.

Three quarters (76 percent) of coffee drinkers also claim they are more likely to purchase coffee from a café that provide compostable cups.

In fact, such is our commitment to sustainability that nearly two thirds (65 percent) of Irish coffee drinkers own a reusable cup and nearly a quarter (23 percent) claim they do not buy a coffee in a single use cup if they have forgotten their reusable cup.

Proving that sustainability is very much top of mind 9 in 10 say they value a business and brand on their ethical behaviour and 68 percent of respondents claim they are likely to avoid cafés not selling Fairtrade.

Home Brewing

According to the Bewley’s research, while a third enjoy a coffee on the go, over half (53 percent) prefer to prepare their coffee at home. 52 percent have a coffee machine in their home, with the most popular type being coffee pod machines (50 percent), followed by Espresso machine (19 percent) and a Ground coffee machine (13 percent). With coffee machines in the home proving popular, instant coffee is still up there among coffee drinkers with 44 percent consuming a convenient instant cup of coffee at home and at work on a regularly basis.

Those between 18-34 years (39 percent) are less likely to consume coffee at home compared to those in the 55 years and over age group (67 percent).

Ireland’s favourite coffee

The Americano leads the way as Ireland’s favourite coffee with 34% preferring it over milkier blends, with cappuccinos and lattes following in popularity, 25% and 23% respectively.

Commenting on the research findings Col Campbell, Managing Director, Bewley’s Grafton Street said, “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we have been loyally serving them for over 175 years. It’s no surprise to see the importance of sustainability to the Irish coffee drinker. This has been a focus for us for a long time and we take it very seriously. Bewley’s coffee is served in 100 percent compostable coffee cups and we recently launched a range of compostable coffee pods for those drinking coffee at home.

We are at the forefront of Irish coffee culture and were the first to import Fairtrade coffee into Ireland, the first to introduce latte art, the first to roast coffee in-store and the first Carbon Neutral coffee roastery in Ireland. Over 175 years on from our beginnings we still love tea and coffee. It’s our passion and producing reports like this ensures we have our finger on the pulse when it comes to providing for our customers”.
