We're absolutely devastated to let you know that The Bernard Shaw and Eatyard will close its doors for good in October.
The beloved pub posted to their website as well as their Instagram and Twitter accounts to announce the end of their Bernard Shaw adventure, and we'd be lying if we said we didn't shed a tear.
"At the end of October 2019 we will close the Shaw, Eatyard, all organisational, art and performance spaces and everything else in the building and yards – for good. We've tried really hard over the last few months to renew the lease, stay on longer, or buy the place. A lot of things didn't go our way over the last 12 months either, but it's out of our hands now unfortunately."
It's with heavy hearts that we announce the end of our Bernard Shaw adventure. At the end of October 2019 we will close the Shaw, Eatyard, all organisational, art and performance spaces and everything else in the building and yards – for good.https://t.co/CGDpyluYIv
They continued; "We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who was part of this 13-year adventure. Our landlord, our neighbours & the council were by and large all brilliant and very helpful & supportive.
"The artists, makers, designers, bands, DJs, promoters, hustlers and lunatics who did their thing at the Shaw – we couldn't have done it without you. We have had amazing, loyal customers, many who came, and left, and came back again over those 13 years as life got in the way while we were busy making plans and being busy fools."
They made sure to thank their crew;
"Past and present we have had incredible people work with us. Everything we do is about people…. their ideas, trying things out, making a mess of it, trying again, getting it right, having fun, making memories, and when the party's over, lets plan another party."
Their last paragraph honestly sent us straight to the tissue box;
"Parties weren't meant to last… Dublin is changing, we can all see and feel it but we are going nowhere and we won't go down without a fight. We'll start something else, somewhere else (plans are afoot), and keep fighting the good fight.
"There are so many young creative, clever, smart people in Dublin & Ireland at the moment – there's lots to be optimistic about – but they need the spaces to meet each other, make plans, and make them happen!" they added.
Both the Bernard Shaw and Eatyard will remain open as usual until the end of October; "We'll have more info, lineups, events, wakes, next steps out over the next few days and weeks."
Amber Gill has confirmed that Irish rugby player Greg O'Shea dumped her by text, and didn't make an effort in their relationship.
Limerick native Greg claimed that they broke up via phone call on The Late Late Show on Friday night, but 22-year-old Geordie beautician Amber has set the record straight.
The pair won Love Island together only five weeks ago after the Irishman coupled up with her, having only been in the villa for 12 days. They split the prize money between them, but Amber should have stolen it…
Speaking for the first time since the split on today's Loose Women, Amber revealed she was "really disappointed" by the sudden end to their relationship.
Explaining what happened, Amber said: "So from my point of view I still wanted to make it work. There was a call a few days prior just chatting, not specifically to do with that.
"I think there was a bit of miscommunication but I think if you don’t want to be with someone, you don’t want to be with someone," the Newcastle native continued,
"Basically all I wanted was a bit of effort from him to come to London or Newcastle to see me. I said I’m going to have to give up if you don’t put the effort in."
Greg then responded in a way that would make any woman's blood boil; "And he said 'okay bye'. I was expecting it to be a bit different."
Greg had claimed that he still has feelings for Amber and has not ruled out a reunion in the future, but Amber admitted that she never expected Islanders going in late to have secret motivations.
"He’s a lovely guy but I’m not sure what’s going to happen in the future really. It’s a bit of an odd situation.
"The Islanders in from the beginning were naive to people going in later on and what people's perceptions were and what were being said. I didn’t really think of that at the time."
As her second time as a Loose Women panelist, Amber spoke very honestly about the split.
"Obviously I’m really disappointed. I wasn't expecting it at all. I was due to fly to Dublin and spend the weekend with him and go on a TV show together.
"On that day I had to cancel as it wasn’t working out. I think the careers and the distance was always a factor. I don’t know what changed. I wanted to make it work but it is what it is."
Our queen isn't letting it get her down, however; "I am disappointed it's over. I’m booked and busy and I'll be fine. Onwards and upwards from here."
Greg appeared on The Late Late Show solo with Maura Higgins after Amber cancelled due to their split. He claimed that they'd tried to make it work but the distance and busy schedules were too much.
"Me and Amber have been chatting the last few days and the whole thing about breaking up over text isn't true. But we need to be realistic about the situation, and the fact she's in the UK," he added.
"We're both so busy and we need to take these opportunities and protecting our careers. She has every brand wanting to work with her, and I'm trying to make the team for the Olympics"
One of the most exciting beauty collaborations of the year is almost here, but it's not exactly garnering the positive attention they hoped for…
KKW Beauty and Canadian Victoria's Secret model Winnie Harlow have joined forces, with brand founder Kim Kardashian announcing the news in an Instagram post yesterday.
The model and beauty mogul looked eerily similar in the campaign shots, sporting sky-high ponytails and matching makeup looks. The collab is set to launch next week, but some people aren't happy.
Kim shared in a caption; "I'm so excited to announce my new KKW x WINNIE Collab!" The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star added that Harlow is "the definition of a true beauty."
The collaboration is set to launch on September 13 and will feature a 12-pan eyeshadow palette, a highlighter duo and three glosses (for an extortionate amount of cash).
The model referred to Duckie Thot's natural hair as "cauliflower ass head", after Thot spoke out about her struggle to reveal her natural hair on Australia's Next Top Model.
Harlow was also a contestant on America's Next Top Model, and recently became Victoria's Secret's first model with vitiligo. Thot has landed multiple high-end campaigns, including with Fenty Beauty.
“LMFAO! WHAT ARE THOOOOOSEEEEE cauliflower ass head.” – Winnie Harlow, speaking about Duckie Thot’s natural hair when she put it in a ponytail https://t.co/7zoHsi4nms
"Thought I was the only who was not a Winnie fan until I read the comments," wrote one commenter. "But people change and grow and evolve. So maybe her attitude is better but she won't get my money."
The KKW x Winnie palette also drew comparison to Lunar Beauty's Greek Goddess Colour Palette, which launched late last year. Time will tell whether the collection will be worth the money.
KKW Beauty's KKW x Winnie Harlow Collection Bundle is priced at €101.50 in total ($112) and will be available from September 13 at KKWBeauty.com
This December, experience Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas as you never have before, with the majesty of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and three original cast members Danny Elfman, Catherine O' Hara and Ken Page live.
Never before seen in Ireland, multiple award-winning composer, songwriter and reigning Pumpkin King, Danny Elfman will be bringing Disney’s timeless classic, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas to life on December 8, 2019 at 3Arena Dublin as part of the movie’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Performing his role of Jack Skellington, Danny Elfman will be joined by other original cast members Catherine O'Hara as Sally, and Ken Page as the voice of Oogie Boogie with full orchestral accompaniment by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

A Dublin restaurant has been named as one of the best places for pizza in all of EUROPE by a prestigious food guide, and we simply must try it.
Manifesto Restaurant in Rathmines landed at number 35 on the list, which was the only Irish location listed on the pizzeria guide.
50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo in Westminster, London took home the first place prize, with Paris's Bijou and Copenhagen's Bæst coming in at number two and number three.
Manifesto is renowned for its innovative and exciting take on traditional Italian delicacies, locating its ingredients both in Ireland and Italy.
The colourful dishes offer a range of textures and flavours, but its pizzas are oven-charred, pillowy and covered in fresh ingredients. (Basically, they're perfect and are number one in our eyes…)
One of their more humorous takes on an Irish influence is their U2 Irish Flag pizza, loaded with gold organic cherry tomato, mozzarella, gorgonzola and friarielli or broccoli rabe.
The restaurant is owned and led by chef Lucio Paduano, hailing from Southern Italy. Paduano is a proud third-generation pizza chef, with his family making pizza since 1929.
Manifesto opened in 2009, and has racked up numerous awards over the years, including a Gold Medal for World's Best Pizza and Ireland's Best Pizza at the World Pizza Championships.
This ain't their first rodeo when it comes to awards, it seems. The restaurant is an elegant spot, with a smouldering wood fire in full view and exposed brick walls.
The Top 50 Guide is a hugely competitive list of the best pizzerias in Europe, and the winner is chosen based on surveys of over 150 esteemed inspectors and anonymous visits to sample the dough.
Gastro scientists, culinary masters and food journalists curate the awards, and know absolutely everything about pizza. Imagine being a pizza inspector? What a great job…
Manifesto's owner and chef Lucio Paduano said "To be listed among the top 50 pizzeria's in Europe is a huge honour for us.
"At Manifesto we work so hard, using premium ingredients in all our pizzas and being Italian, authenticity is at the heart of everything we do. This listing, recognises our hard work and effort and myself and the whole team are extremely grateful."
Kristen Stewart has finally had her say about her ex-boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, scoring the role of Batman.
The actress seemed thrilled that her Twilight co-star will take over the role from Ben Affleck, telling a reporter; "I feel like he’s the only guy that could play that part."
Superhero movies are showing no sign of becoming less popular, with the characters getting rebooted and rewritten as long as studios (*cough* Disney/Warner Bros *cough*) can keep making money.
The Batman, starring Edward Cullen himself, is due to be released in 2021 as a Bruce Wayne remake, because we really need more of those.
Pattinson spent many of his post-Twilight years talking about how much he hated being in blockbusters, and accepted parts in low-budget, indie movies.
The actor has recently been spotted in Timothee Chalamet's Henry V Netflix flick; The King. Robert playing such a famous character seems, well, out of character.
While at the TIFF film festival this weekend, she spoke about her ex's new role with Variety, saying she was over the moon for Rob.
"I feel like he’s the only guy that could play that part. I'm so happy for him. It's crazy. I'm very, very happy about that. I heard that and I was like, 'Oh man!' It's awesome."
We're glad Kristen is supportive of her ex-boyfriend, especially after they were photographed together for the first time in five years last summer.
Maybe they've repaired their relationship following their dramatic split? Who can forget the cheating scandal with her Snow White And The Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.
Amy Hart has shared her successful Love Island audition tape with her followers online, and it's…something.
The ex-air hostess surprised her fans by showing the reel which secured her spot on the ITV2 dating show on YouTube last night, which led to her coupling up with Curtis Pritchard before quitting the show.
The video shows Amy refer to herself as "the lovechild of Elton John and Gemma Collins", also describing herself as a third wheel and "the world's worst drunk texter" who is "too extra for my own good".
"I know I've got the hair, the teeth, the nails, the boobs but I'm not your run-of-the-mill Barbie girl," she added. "There's only one Ames."
The 26-year-old also mentions that all of her friends have "found their Mr Right and have their fairytale endings, and I think it's my time". She also describes her five years of pageant life.
Unfortunately, the show didn't lead to a fairytale ending for Amy, but she walked out with her head held high and earned thousands of fans for the value she had for her mental health.
Amy recently hit back at trolls who criticised her appearance online with an emotional Instagram message describing how upset her friends and family have been after reading vile comments.
She captioned the lengthy post; "To everyone who has taken time out of their day to point out my flaws – thank you. I know you probably think that the comments you make about my appearance don’t get read, well they do – and they hurt. Not just me, but my friends and family, too.
"I know it’s probably difficult to see me as a person when all you know about me is what you’ve seen on TV, online and when I pop up on your social media feed."
"To you, I’m probably just a picture or a video… but the reality is I’m just an ordinary girl from Worthing whose dreams are coming true," the reality star added.
"The vast majority of comments I receive are absolutely lovely – and I read them too…so thank you! I guess what I want to say is… just have a bit consideration when you’re leaving comments on people's posts – whether they have 1 follower or 1 million followers."
The star is taking action by heading into schools to speak about the impacts of trolling and online bullying, using her platform for good.
"To everyone who has taken time out of their day to point out my flaws – thank you," she said. "I have a mirror, I know what I look like – and I'm happy with it. But, like everyone, I have my insecurities."
YAS gal. Say what you want about Amy, but she stays true to herself 24 hours a day.
An ex-Love Island star was caught in possession of the drug ketamine and is now facing a potential jail sentence when she visits court next month.
Bethany Rodgers was a contestant on the ITV2 show back in 2015, and pleaded guilty to possessing 134mg of the Class B drug after she was caught with it last year.
A maximum sentence of five years in prison is carried by the offence, but Rodgers may escape the full sentence if she admitted possession.
Appearing at Bradford magistrates court, 23-year-old Bethany admitted possession but didn't enter a plea for another charge of allegedly using thousands of pounds of criminal cash to buy a car.
The Sun reports that the former reality star possibly used the money to purchase an Audi A3 and is alleged to have "acquired, used or had possession of criminal property, namely £16,500" to buy the vehicle.
Rodgers is due to appear at Bradford crown court next month and is currently on bail.
Bethany appeared for just one week on Love Island, having entered the villa alongside Max Morley, and quickly became involved in drama among the girls.
She failed to couple up with anyone and was dumped from the Island just days after her explosive arrival on the show, and hasn't been sighted much since.
In case you've been living under an early 2000s-sized rock, you're dying of excitement after hearing news of the Lizzie McGuire reboot. Yes, reboot. Because we're THAT old now.
Hilary Duff confirmed recently that she will reprise her role as Lizzie McGuire in a Disney+ revival of the iconic show, which aired from 2001 until 2004. Three years, endless memories.
The now-31-year-old announced the news at the Disney D23 Expo, appearing on stage to reveal that our favourite 13-year-old will return as a 30-year-old interior designer apprentice in NYC.
Many of us also recall the Lizzie McGuire movie's ending, which featured a KISS between Lizzie and her longtime bestie Gordo. We predicted their eventual marriage and family, but we spoke too soon…
Gordo (played by Adam Lamberg) and the protagonist were deemed childhood sweethearts, but in the new show, 30-year-old Lizzie will be engaged to someone who ISN'T Gordo. That one hurt.
Remember when Gordo had to watch Lizzie ride off on a moped with Paolo in The Lizzie McGuire Movie and it broke our hearts? This is ten times worse than that. TEN TIMES.
Speaking to Vulture, Hilary revealed that their platonic friendship is “what was so good” about the show.
“You know what, I don’t know if I was as devastated by that. I feel like them not being together is what was so good.
“It’s that one person that you’re like, 'Was he the one? Is it ever going to be?' You’re always kind of wondering. We wanted it to hurt everyone a little bit, and it’ll continue to hurt."
"I really hope he’s going to be involved," she said. "We’ve been planning out the season and coming up with what everything looks like, and it’s so important for him to be there for part of it."
The upcoming series has yet to confirm if any cast members will return. He's currently working for New York's Irish Arts Center as a Development Associate, as far as we know.
The sequel is expected to return in 2020 on Disney's new streaming service, Disney+. Irish prices are yet to be confirmed, but it's roughly six euro per month to steam from the channel.
Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has revealed that she attempted suicide in 2013 after constant trolling about her appearance.
The X-Factor winner explained how the pressure and consistent negative comments caught up with her one night in 2013 and she took "as many tablets as I could" to escape it.
Her then-boyfriend realised what Jesy had tried to do and immediately called an ambulance, where Jesy was taken to hospital for treatment.
Her new BBC documentary, Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out, she said; "I was sat in bed crying, thinking, 'This is never going to go, I'm going to feel sad for the rest of my life, so what is the point in being here?'
"The only way I can describe the pain is like constantly being heartbroken. I remember going to the kitchen and I just took as many tablets as I could. Then my ex, who was with me at the time, he woke up and was like, 'why are you crying?' I kept saying, 'I just want to die'."
Jesy deleted Twitter since the incident, which she found was a huge breeding ground for ruthlessly vile comments. The 28-year-old has faced criticism for everything you can possibly think of.
Jesy told her family and close friends, as well as the rest of Little Mix, what had happened after her suicide attempt six years ago.
In the BBC documentary, which will be available on the iPlayer and will air on BBC One from 12 September, she recalled how the bullying began almost straight away after the X Factor experience;
"I had about 101 Facebook messages in my inbox, and the first one that came up was from some random man, saying: 'You are the ugliest thing I've seen in my life, you do not deserve to be in this girl band. You deserve to die'."
Jesy adds: "The whole world had an opinion on me and they weren't good ones. From the minute those comments started it became one of the worst times of my life."
"I wasn't known as one of the singers from Little Mix. I was always known as 'the fat, ugly one'. It literally consumed every part of me."
The star found fame on X Factor in 2011 when she was paired with Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock to form a girl group.
Jesy is hoping that her new documentary will shed light on the impact of social media trolls and mental health. If this story has affected you, please call Samaritans on their hotline: (01) 671 0071
Starting with the obvious, Bunsen is seriously one of the most delicious burgers I have had touch my lips. Its toasted, Brioche bun and well-done patty is simply perfect. This is a great place if you are one of those people who can never decide what to order. Their minimalist menu cuts your choices down to two options: with or without cheese.
This place has the biggest burgers you have ever seen, and you will want every last bite. Quality, sirloin beef sandwiched between a generous amount of towering toppings. If you fill up quickly, I recommend ordering your patty in a wrap so that you can savour each morsel of quality beef. Make sure to try out their crispy sweet potato fries. They also have delicious veggie burgers as well.
Perfect for picky eaters or those with unique tastes, The Counter lets you build your own burgers. Choose your patty size, cheese type, sauce (they have over 20 kinds), and tasty toppings. I personally prefer adding a sunny-side up egg, crispy onion, bacon, and avocado on mine. They have amazing chicken wings as well. This restaurant provides the ultimate burger experience, letting you participate in creating a scrumptious burger tailored to your own taste.
It’s all in the name with these fast-food styled burgers. One bite alone will have you saying ‘WOW’. As a former Californian resident, I can say that this is the closest thing I have ever found to In-n-out. With just the perfect amount of cheese smothered grease, this grub is the perfect combination of top-quality food for a low-cost price. Plus, you can find most locations inside a pub, making it the perfect drunken munchie for those late-night cravings.
Best chicken burger I have ever had. Don’t let the name fool you, this is not a brunch place. The hipster eatery deals out fried chicken burgers that are finger-lickin’ good. They have a range of different sauces from buffalo to ranch dressing that soak into the crispy chicken creating a perfectly balanced texture. Their bacon mac n’ cheese and build-your-own cheesecake are must-eats as well. Keep in mind there is usually a longer wait, so make sure to put your name in before heading across the road to The Bleeding Horse for a pint.
If you’re a vegan, you know how hard it is to find a decent burger in the city that doesn't taste like straight-up cardboard. This place has the best animal-free patties in Dublin. It's top-notch vegan and vegetarian burgers are served with vegan mayo and vegan cheese on a soft, wholesome brown bun. The menu also has delectable bites for carnies as well, including buffalo chicken wings and gorgeous beef burgers. The homemade rustic wedges are favoured among all types of eaters. Oh, and did I mention they are vegan?
7. Ray’s Pizza
Yes, you read that right. Although it’s known primarily for its pizza, this underrated grubhub has fantastic burgers. These mouthwatering delights hit the spot after a long day of trying to eat healthy. Plus, all of their fries are made to order. And while their pizza is subpar in my opinion, they have the best cheeseburger combo in the city. You will not regret choosing Ray’s for your cheat meal.
Vintage arcade games, a variety of beers, scrumptious food – this is the ideal scene for you and your friends. Token’s burgers are made of tasty, grass-fed beef and are also available vegan-style. The vegan chick burger rivals that of On the Pig's Back. Also, their Out-n-In burger will change your life with its mouth-watering bacon jam spread. Check out their cheapskate deal that includes a main, side, drink, and ten tokens for games. There is also an entire floor of pinball machines, so what’s not to like at this hipster hangout?
This Sandymount burger joint seems causal from the outside, but its food is five-star rated. One bite will confirm that all ingredients are from local farms, making this unique restaurant completely sustainable. So, not only is your burger fresh and delicious, but it also supports small, struggling Irish farms. Make sure to try their limited-edition Au Poivre burger with peppered brie, portobello mushrooms, and dijon dressing. It pairs perfectly with their caramelised Guinness milkshake.
10. Borza’s Takeaway
Looking for a late-night, greasy fix? Borza’s has bomb bites that will hit the spot. Their Italian pork sausage burger is a favourite for locals with its original, spicy flavours, allowing for the perfect amount of crunch with each savoury mouthful. This family-owned chipper goes the extra mile by making their own vinegar and freshly cut chips, which have become all the rage in Sandymount.
So, next time you have a hankering for a delish burger, try out one of these Dublin favourites.
From one foodie to another, these burgers are worth every penny.
A brand new campaign in England has been launched in order for beauty salons to encourage cervical cancer screenings.
Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust released a worrying survey in January revealing that many young women are put off from having smear tests.
According to the charity, eight out of 10 women surveyed stated that they delayed or failed to attend a cervical cancer screening out of embarrassment.
Online beauty marketplace Treatwell has claimed that cervical screening attendance is at a 20-year low, but the number of women choosing to have intimate waxing treatments is on the rise,
To combat the declining amount of women having smear tests, Treatwell has teamed up with Public Health England (PHE) to launch the "Life Saving Wax" initiative.
Over 500 Treatwell partner salons across England will place posters and information about cervical screenings in their salons today.
Beauty therapists are also being supported in their goal to talk to customers about cervical screenings and provide advice on where they can discover the right information.
A study carried out by Treatwell of 1,006 women aged between 25 and 34 revealed that almost half (47 percent) of participants said that they feel comfortable speaking with beauty therapists about personal topics.
Three quarters of the people interviewed stated that they would listen to their beauty therapist's advice.
The director of Screening Programmes at PHE, Professor Anne Mackie, says that the organisation is "thrilled" to be partnering with Treatwell on the campaign.
"Two lives are lost every day to cervical cancer but this needn’t be the case. Cervical screening can stop cancer before it starts as the test identifies potentially harmful cells before they become cancerous and ensures women get the right treatment as soon as possible," Professor Mackie states.
"The decline in numbers getting screened, particularly those aged between 25 – 34, is a major concern as it means millions of women are missing out on a potentially life-saving test."
Beauty director at Treatwell, Liz Hambleton, explains that beauticians are "uniquely placed" to discuss personal topics with customers;
"We see thousands of women booking intimate waxes everyday through Treatwell, so when we heard that women aren’t attending a potentially life-saving test due to embarrassment, we wanted to see how we could change this," Hambleton states.
"Just one conversation is all it could take to remind or encourage someone to go for their screening when invited."
Each year in England between 2016 to 2016, about 2,600 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer and more than a quarter of those diagnosed died from the illness.
A study published in the British Journal of Cancerclaims that if everyone who was invited for a smear test went to their appointment regularly, an incredible 83 percent of cervical cancer cases could be prevented.
However, more than one in four women who are invited for a smear test don't have the procedure, says Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.
