The Leaving Cert results are out today, and there are a number of emotions we all went through, whether you did your state exams in 2019 or 1999.

From sheer hysteria to eerily calm acceptance, here's how the roller coaster of a morning usually goes:

5. The 'sure it'll be grand' attitude

It's the night before, and buoyed up with denial, (and potentially Rescue Remedy) you're feeling pretty okay.

I mean really, how bad can it be? You only blanked on the entire English paper 2 and really, how important are core subjects anyway?

Image result for it'll be fine

4. Pure, petrified fear

It's the morning of, and everyone in the house is tense. Your Ma has been up since 5am, chain smoking in her dressing gown and you can't face your breakfast.

You are just now contemplating whether or not it would really be so bad if you had to repeat. (It's not that bad, here's some inside experience)

3. Panic mode

You're in the car on the way to pick up the results, and it's taking every fibre of your being not to be sick on the way there.

This is potentially the most nerve wracking stage of the whole ordeal.

The driver isn't speaking much and you wish the lad on the radio would stop going on about the number of people who got all A1s.

2. Acceptance

You're walking into school to get your results, and noticing that everyone looks similarly sickly and terrified.

Of course there are a few people giving it large and messing, but, like most people, you have accepted that your fate is sealed inside that brown envelope.

1. Sweet sweet RELIEF

Whether you got 600 points or just about scraped by, it doesn't matter now, it's all over.

No matter what the results of the Leaving Cert, it definitely doesn't define what you will do in your life, and a part of you knows that as you slide the certificate back into the envelope and head off to confer with your mates.

Love Island's Yewande Biala has opened up about what life is like when you're black and in the media.

The 23-year-old Irish scientist says being black means "you have to be 10 times better than everyone else", she told 1Xtra Talks.

Yewande was one of the 2019 cast originals, but left the show after Danny chose Arabella over her in a brutal dumping.

A post shared by Yewande (@yewande_biala) on

She says: "When I got into this I realised being black is hard, but being black and in the media is harder.

"You have to stand out and you have to do more and it can get quite frustrating," she adds.

"You feel like you're not doing enough, but just keep pushing to keep doing what you're doing and someone will see how amazing you are."

A post shared by  (@yewande_biala) on

The reality star also claims that finding love in the villa was harder because of the colour of her skin.

Yewande's best friends were candidates Amber Gill, who is mixed race and Anna Vakili, who's Iranian, and she says "we all struggled".

"We didn't find anyone who liked us. It was always someone coming in and saying 'my type is blonde and petite'. We'd just look at each other and say 'they're obviously not here for us'."

Yewande also spoke about the pressure of social media outside of the villa, and how she copes with it.

She says "the majority of people were super supportive" in public platform comments, but that she did receive some hurtful direct messages.

"When I came back from Mallorca I got such a tan. I was so dark but I loved it.

"And people would come to me like, 'Oh you're too dark, like why are you so dark? Why are you so black, you're too skinny'. It was just stupid."

A post shared by Yewande (@yewande_biala) on

Yewande was also quizzed on her feelings about Danny Williams and Arabella Chi.

Model Arabella Chi is now dating Wes Nelson from the 2018 series, while Danny is dating Jourdan Riane after falling for her during the Casa Amor segment only days after Arabella was dumped.

The scientist says numerous articles appeared online about her which portrayed a tired stereotype used against black women following her dumping.

"I tried not to read any articles about myself because I didn't want to get upset. I think they were trying to label me as the angry black woman, which was kind of insane.

"Not once in the villa did I ever raise my voice or feel like I acted in that way, even considering the circumstances I was in."

Tomorrow is the big day for Leaving Cert students: The results are officially IN and their time in fresh hell of exams is soon to be over.

With CAO offers coming in on Tuesday, the nerves are bound to be fully shredded by the end of the week.

What can one do to distract oneself from the horror of exam results? Have a cheeky Nando's, of course, but on the house.

Celebrate or commiserate with Nando's for free, if you bring your results (via paper, email or text) and a valid form of ID into one of their restaurants you can get your Peri-Peri reward.

The free lunch is available for students in the UK and Ireland on the relevant exam results day.

The special Nando's offer is a free quarter chicken or fire-starter menu item, so you don't want to miss it.

The offer runs on Tuesday, August 13 for Leaving Cert students, as well as a September date for the Junior Cert kids.

Who doesn't want free food in exchange for the pain of examinations? The only catch is that yoou have to make a minimum spend of €7 to get the free delicious chicken.

That's definitely manageable. A whole Nando's meal with sides and a drink is normally around €20, so €7 seems like a steal.

Check a full list of all the chain's restaurants here, as well as the offer's terms and conditions. Good luck to everyone getting their results tomorrow, you'll have forgotten them in a few months!

Minister for Health Simon Harris is aiming to remove VAT from condoms and menstrual cups, and we want to squeeze him with hugs for life.

Harris called for a review of Ireland's tax approach on menstrual products and the barrier contraceptive ahead of last year's Budget, but no changes were carried out.

His position appears to be the same this year, and he'll be asking for VAT on these goods to be scrapped in October's Budget.

A post shared by  (@freesafelegalfilm) on

The reduced rate of VAT of 13.5 percent applies to condoms at the moment, but the minister hopes to remove it entirely according to The Journal.

The Irish Pharmacy Union has also called for condoms to be VAT-free, with a pack of 12 condoms currently pricing at between €13 and €20.

Contraceptive gels for use with the barrier method also have a 13.5 percent rate applied. The oral contraceptive pill, the implant and injection currently have 0% VAT.

A post shared by (@durex) on

Harris wrote to Finance Minister Paschal Donohue about the work to reduce crisis pregnancies, saying that the VAT rates;

“Runs contrary to our work for people to practice safer sex and avoid crisis pregnancies and STIs”.

The letter  was released under the Freedom of Information Act, and states that the aim of the Sexual Health Strategy is to “improve sexual health and well being and to reduce negative sexual health outcomes”.

Harris writes in the letter that the cost of condoms could stop people buying them.

A post shared by  (@lingerieatsinderellas) on

The importance of using condoms is also to protect against STIs, including HIV, as well as contraception.

While he pointed out that consumer expenditure is widely subject to VAT, Harris claimed that “there is a strong case for excluding non-oral contraception from this tax”.

"Such a tax may inevitably discourage people from purchasing non-oral contraception due to cost concerns. This runs contrary to our work for people to practise safer sex and avoid crisis pregnancies and STIs. Both of these outcomes have a negative impact on the people concerned and their immediate family."

The health service loses out in the long run if STI rates are high, due to the cost "involved in treating people who contract HIV".

A post shared by  (@durex) on

Harris has also called for the VAT rate on sanitary products to be reduced to 0% also, such as the VAT rate of 23 percent on menstrual cups.

“The issue that now needs attention is the position with newer products. Newer products (e.g. menstrual cups) that were not available at the time of these agreements are subject to the standard rate of VAT 23 percent.

“There is a cogent argument for removing VAT on these and any newer sanitary products and aligning them with the zero-percent VAT rate applicable to tampons and sanitary towels,” he said.

The minister currently is attempting to overhaul the cost and availability of contraception in Ireland.

The government announced that it hopes to increase free contraception nationwide, and Harris plans to reduce the cost of the morning after pill.

Last Monday, Harris announced that condoms would be distributed across third level colleges this year.

A public consultation is currently underway on how to increase access to contraception in the hopes to reduce abortion rates, STIs spreading and crisis pregnancies.

The pair lasted six months outside of the villa before splitting up, after being shot to instant stardom.

"I had several calls from the producers checking if I was okay. And a few weeks after the show when I felt overwhelmed and said I needed to speak to someone they put me in touch with a psychiatrist.

"Initially when you come out everyone is lovely and then you start seeing a few negative stories and it can be hard to handle."

Dani believes that she has a role model status because she doesn't have the same party girl lifestyle as other reality stars.

"I had loads of people on Instagram asking me about boys and relationships. I realised people were thinking of me as a role model, something I never expected, and you have to take that seriously," she said.

"I think of myself as a pretty moral person. I don't go out drinking, I've never been interested in drugs or parties. I don't like nightclubs because I like being able to talk to my friends."

Dani is now dating 23-year-old stockbroker Sammy Kimmence, who she briefly dated as a teenager. The pair have moved in together.

"Within five years I want to be married with a baby," she said.

"I've told him I want to get married. I've told him I want him to propose to me on a boat. I've even told him what kind of ring I want. I don't hold back, I put it all out there. He's totally up for it," she laughed.

Over €100,000 has been donated to help the search for 15-year-old Irish teenager Nóra Quoirin, who went missing from a Malaysian jungle resort on August 4.

The family of Quoirin have been hunting for their daughter relentlessly for the past eight days, with more than 300 search and rescue personnel deployed.

The teenager suffers from a rare brain defect named holoprosencephaly, a congenital brain malformation resulting from incomplete separation of the right and left hemispheres.

A new hotline was set up over the weekend by Malaysian police, with voluntary hikers joining in.

Her parents, Meabh and Sebastien Quoirin, a French-Irish couple who are based in London, thanked those involved in the search

“You have given up your time especially at a special festival time,” said Ms Quoirin, referring to Hari Raya Haji, the Islamic “festival of sacrifice” celebrations.

Meabh added:

“We want to say thank you to each and every one of you. We know you’re searching night and day for Nora. We see you working so hard and also praying with us and being with us.”

The drama is absolutely exploding in Hollywood over Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's divorce.

The 26-year-old Mother's Daughter singer and her longtime lover Liam have split after nearly eight months of marriage, but photos then circulated online of Miley kissing Kaitlynn Carter during their Italian holiday.

Carter only recently split with Brody Jenner, who has some thoughts on the matter. The Hills: New Beginnings star took to Instagram to share a photo of himself, captioning the image; "Don't let yesterday take up too much of today".

The fifth series of Love Island may have ended, but life is only just beginning for the contestants on the outside.

The Islanders have returned to reality and are gathering that coin with sponsorships, TV shows and public appearances in clubs.

This years' group are charging quite the high amount to grace an event with their presence, and we're a bit shook.

According to The Sun, Curtis Pritchard and Tommy Fury . are the top earners, charging 10,000 pounds each to attend an event.

The publication contacted the agents of 2019's contestants to enquire about an appearance at a 21st birthday party, and boxer Tommy was able to charge a whopping £10k for a two-hour appearance.

The runner up of the show has people to see and things to do, and time is money after all. According to The Sun, professional dancer Curtis charges the same, but also requests a driver and a hotel.

Airbnb feel that it's customers are ready for high-end getaways, after the number of bookings for listings worth at least $1,000 per night increased more than 60 percent in 2018.

Who are these people with all this disposable cash, can I ask? The luxury travel market is currently estimated to be a whopping $200 billion.

The company are claiming to make bespoke travel more accessible to anyone. Brian Chesky, Airbnb Co-Founder, CEO and Head of Community spoke about the launch;

“With Airbnb Luxe we are applying the same approach we’ve used since we launched Airbnb more than 11 years ago — creating local, authentic and magical travel moments now in amazing places to stay- to reimagine the way people think and experience luxury travel.”

We'll probably just stick to our trusted air mattress, but thanks Brian. Drool over Airbnb Luxe for yourself on their website. The jealousy is just that little bit too real.

Almost 30,000 people across Ireland are on a waiting list to see a gynaecologist for an outpatient appointment, consultants have warned. This is a massive increase of 43 percent since 2014.

The #CareCantWait campaign from the Irish Hospital Consultant Association (IHCA) has been launched today, warning of the hazardous consequences of lengthy wait times on patients.

The campaign is also calling on the Government to address the problem of consultant shortages with speed and empathy.

Currently, one-in-five permanent consultant posts in Ireland's HSE are unfilled or else filled by temporary appointments. As a nation, we have the lowest amount of consultants working in the health service in the EU.

There's no doubt that this shortage is having an influence on the long waiting times and stark lack of access to essential services, according to the IHCA.

Ireland has the third-highest fertility rate in the EU, but the State has less than half of the EU average amount of specialists working in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Dr. Rhona Mahony, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and director of women’s health for the Ireland East Hospital Group has spoken out in a series of videos expressing her concerns.

She described the number of women waiting for gynaecological outpatient appointments as “distressing”, adding that Ireland has the lowest number of consultants in the OECD.

Dr Mahony emphasised that waiting lists have a "huge impact on quality of life", and claimed that many "simple procedures can change lives and radically improve a patient’s quality of life."

"Not to be able to offer that to patients, in a country like Ireland, is really quite distressing, mainly for patients but also for those charged with giving care," she stressed.

Shockingly, 29,152 people who identify as women are waiting for a gynaecological outpatient appointment with a consultant at a public hospital in Ireland.

The highest numbers of people awaiting care are at Dublin hospitals, with 3,828 women waiting for an appointment at the Rotunda, 3,130 waiting at Tallaght and 2,542 waiting at the Coombe.

In Cork, 1,553 women are waiting to be seen at Cork University Hospital, and 1,184 are waiting at Limerick University Hospital. 1,467 women are waiting at the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise and 1,385 are waiting in Mullingar.

Galway University Hospital has 1,882 women waiting for an outpatient appointment while Letterkenny has 1,773. Lastly, Cavan is seeing 1,142 waiting for care.

Waiting list figures from the end of May show over 556,000 patients waiting to see a consultant for an outpatient appointment, while a further 68,000 who have been assessed are waiting for follow-on treatment.

Irish Hospital Consultant Association has expressed it's worry over the lack of care, saying; “Tens of thousands of these patients are waiting long periods, often several years, to obtain an outpatient appointment."

HCA vice president and consultant rheumatologist Laura Durcan said consultants felt the need to to go public about the situation to inform the nation;

“None of this is okay,” said Dr Durcan. “You should be able to access timely care.”

7,392 admitted patients have been forced to wait on trolleys for a hospital bed in June, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO). This amount is seven percent higher than last year.

There were 482 patients on trolleys last Tuesday, which marks the highest total for any June day since records started, and is 49 percent higher than the same date of last year.

Phil Ní Sheaghdha, INMO general secretary, claims that this summer is as dire as the winter of five years ago; “Understaffing is driving year-round unsafe conditions,” she said

We finally have an excuse – not that we need one – to unleash our emotional mess on our other halves, as it turns out – he LOVES it.

Blessed are those couple of months that your partner hasn't discovered your inner crazy yet.

But embrace the mood swings as he may dig it, particularly between the sheets.

According to a German study, men prefer getting frisky with women who are emotionally unstable.

A possible explanation for this? An image of a knight on the white horse coming to save the day, springs to mind.

On the other hand, us gals enjoy men who won’t give us our own way. (Sounds about accurate, and a plausible reason for why we fall for f*ck boys…)

Additionally, attention to detail is a big turn on for us ladies, according to the findings of this study.

Lead researcher Julia Velten and her team investigated volunteer’s sex lives, sexual function and their personality.

Research into personality traits and sex is an area that has been neglected, according to the experts.

A thousand people took part in the sexy survey.

The team concluded that "men whose partners had less emotional stability reported better sexual function."

Meanwhile "lower agreeableness of a sexual partner was predictive of better sexual function in women".

The study was published in the Journal Of Sex Research, and the average age of the volunteers were 51, with the majority being in their current relationships for 24 years. – so they know a thing or two about a lifetime of sex.

For the women, topics of sexual desire, arousal, satisfaction and orgasm were examined.

For our male counterparts, it was erectile function, satisfaction, orgasm and desire.

Their findings revealed that men enjoyed sex more with a partner who had similar traits, in particular being easily stimulated.

"In men who are easily aroused by erotic fantasies or visual stimuli, having a partner who responds in a similar way may facilitate sexual function," the researchers explained.

An attentive man is one to keep around, as sex tends to be better with them.

The team said: "men who are thorough and dutiful may feel the need to satisfy their partner sexually, which may in turn lead to better sexual function of their partners".

The German scientists also put to the bed the misconception that being in a long-term relationship means you’re not gonna get your bit.

"This finding implies that a healthy sexual life is possible even in long relationships," the researchers said.

And, remember – consensual, safe sexy time is always the best.

Happy humping!
