Over two thirds of women have experienced hair loss due to stress

Thinning, dryness and breakage are the top three hair concerns for Irish women. That’s according to new research from Peter Mark. The survey of over 1,600 women examining hair habits and attitudes finds that 40% of women think their hair could be healthier and 29% say they have noticed issues with their hair.

In fact, two thirds (68%) of those questioned say they have experienced hair loss during a stressful period in their life while 30% say hormonal issues and the menopause have caused their hair to thin. Over half (55%) say they are using haircare products to address the issue with a fifth saying they are taking hair supplements to promote hair growth.

Commenting on the findings Ciarán Purcell, Brand Experience Director, Peter Mark said: “It’s clear from the research that a significant number of women feel that the health of their hair could be improved. There are a number of factors that impact the health of your hair, including stress, with many women experiencing increased hair loss during stressful periods in their life. Taking hair supplements can help improve your overall hair health, as well as using the right hair care products to address any hair concerns you are having. For anyone experiencing issues with their hair at present, we would recommend that they make an appointment with one of our highly qualified team members who will help recommend the best products to address their hair concerns.”
