Last year’s jeans are dead, long live the new jeans
No matter which season it is, year after year, jeans always find their way into fashion. Whether it is about working on the details or doing a complete change in style, designers keep bringing them back on the stage, and they always have success. What will it be for the summer of 2023? Some kind of mix of years gone by, and a definite movement away from last year. Here is all that you need to know about denim tendencies in the coming months.
Say hello to the 70s (again)
Do you remember the wide legs of the 70s? Even if you weren't born then, you will certainly still have seen pictures, as they became an icon of that period of time. Long and loose will be the main adjectives for women's jeans design throughout this summer. Going retro is all in, and you should enjoy it. There's something really lovely about wearing a pair a loose jeans rather than the skin-tight ones we've been used to. You still keep the cool look of the denim, yet you don't have to squeeze yourself into those two tiny tunnels that they call pant legs. The fit is so much better too – you don't have to worry about the bulges and creases, loose fit jeans look and feel better. To get the complete look, try mixing it with a simple knit on top or a T-shirt (both these items work in a fitted or loose style). In terms of accessories, make sure they are big, and they will look better in gold.
Jeans on top and jeans at the bottom
If you swear by denim only, you will be a happy person for the next few months – because the gods of fashion have declared that double denim is no longer the offence it used to be considered. Now you can wear your jeans accompanied by a jeans jacket, and you will fit right in with fashion tendencies. The nice thing is that you can get to mix different pieces. Denim shorts are also in vogue, so you can pull off a sexy yet liberating look, by adding an open jeans shirt on top of a neutral colour tank on top. For the evening, full length jeans and a denim jacket of the exact same colour will be perfect for going out.
Blue jeans
Although there will be a few coloured style jeans around, the real way to wear denim this summer is to choose blue jeans. They range from deep blue to almost completely washed out to white. If you are going to wear two pieces at once, their colours should be coordinated. This will not be the summer of scratched jeans with a few holes in them, even though some models will make their way onto the market. Choose the latter if you want to be somewhat different from the crowd. Some will also feature elaborate prints, which is another potential route for those who like to be different, yet remain fashion worthy and be noticed, wherever they go.
Most important though? Have fun and find a style that you like.
