Are some people happy this woman screamed at a child?

Marcy’s Diner in Portland, Maine became the centre of huge controversy over the weekend after the owner Darla Neugebauer decided to stop a child from screaming. She opted to scream back at her.

The child’s mother, Tara Carson, took to her Facebook page to write about the incident. The post has since been deleted but it set off a huge argument online about whether Darla acted appropriately or not.

Things then escalated even further when the Marcy’s Diner Facebook page replied to Carson’s post detailing the incident even further.

They wrote that the whole ordeal started because the Carson family ordered too many pancakes.

The next day, the page went on to discuss the incident again and pointed out that the child was screaming for over half an hour. They said the parents should have taken her outside.

“I can’t explain why there’s crazy people in this world that behave like that,” Tara Carson told KVUE reporters as she said she felt “helpless” during the whole ordeal.

Speaking to KVUE herself, Darla said: “I slammed my hands on the table and said, ‘this needs to stop’ — meaning her screaming — and I pointed at her and she looked at me and she stopped.”

While she admitted she “might have used poor judgement”, Darla also isn’t going to apologise.

Meanwhile, more and more people are commenting on the Facebook page to show their support for Darla, and admit they too hate screaming children.

Others are a bit baffled by the diner’s annoyance at being asked to make pancakes.
