Badass pup! A dog gobbled up TEN batteries and lived to tell the tale

by

They say that cats have nine lives but we are starting to believe that maybe dogs are in fact pretty invincible as well.

A pint-sized dog in the US swallowed several batteries before his owners rushed the 1-year-old pup to the vet.

Boogie, who is a 'Yorkiepoo' (or a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and a poodle to you and me), managed to consume ten of his owner's hearing aid batteries!

Bad dog.

The tiny seven pound dog was rushed to a veterinary clinic near his home in Texas where a quick X-ray clearly showed up the foreign items in his stomach.

This was not the first time that the naughty little pup's appetite landed him in the vets. He had previously been sent to the doctors for scoffing down too much candied popcorn.

We know the feeling.

Batteries are a particularly dangerous items for animals to swallow because if the negative and postitive ends of the batteries touch while being moved, they can burn up inside the animal. Ouch.

This ruled out the obvious solution of having the dog throw the foreign objects up. It also meant that they couldn't wait to let the batteries pass through Boogie's system because the digestive process could break down the batteries and cause harmful acid leaks.

The vet had no choice but to perform a rather risky emergency surgery but Boogie thankfully survived the ordeal and the little "bundle of love and energy" is resting up at home, according to the owners.

Lucky break, Boogie.
