A Ryanair love story? #Loveatfirstflight campaign reunites love birds
When Galway man Jamie Kelly sat beside Katie Moreau, a Canadian girl, on a Ryanair flight from Barcelona to Dublin, he must have been very charming indeed.
Apparently the two passengers spent the whole flight chatting and totally hit it off. Jamie forgot one VERY important thing though – he never asked for Katie’s number, and he didn’t know her second name, and then they got separated at passport control! Disaster!
However, Jamie’s friends decided to help and launched the #loveatfirstflight campaign on Twitter. Jamie also got some help off Today FM, as he went on national radio in the hope of being reconnected with his disappearing Canadian girl. He told Ray D’Arcy:
“We talked from the plane into the terminal together and stayed talking until we reached the passport control. See, I was so engrossed during the flight and being the gentleman that I am I didn’t want to go to the toilet in front of this beautiful girl so I used the time I had at the passport control to nip to the loo.”
Jamie is one lucky man though, as his attempts to find Katie have not been in vein – the pair are to be reunited at the end of this week!
Some of Katie’s relatives in Canada caught wind of the campaign and told her about it. She is said to be very flattered that the "handsome Irishman" had been so eager to find her. She said:
“When I was on the plane I talked to him incessantly because I had just been travelling for two months in Italy and Spain and it was just so nice to be around English-speaking people, plus I’m a talker.
“We had lots in common, plus he was very easy on the eyes.”
Katie is due to return to Canada at the end of the week, but we doubt a mere plane journey will put Jamie off!
