Amy Schumer is set to star as BARBIE in an upcoming film
Amy Schumer could soon be personifying one of the world's most beloved children's toys.
The comedian is in negotiations to play the lead role in Barbie, the live-action Sony Pictures film based on the doll.
Every kid loved Barbie growing up, but she's had something of a bad rap in recent years for her unrealistic proportions and perceived ditziness.
Amy is renowned for her fiercely feminist stance and taking pride in her realistic figure, so having her star as Barbie puts a modern day spin on the classic toy.
The film is set to revolve around Amy's character living in Barbieland, who gets kicked out for not fitting the exact ideal of perfection.
After adventuring in the real world, Barbie realises that perfection comes on the inside, not the outside. and tries to spread the message across Barbieland.
The film is due out in summer 2018, and Amy and her sister Kim Caramele will rewrite the original script.
