He’d do anything for an Oscar! Leo sleeps in DEAD animal carcasses
At this point, the fact that Leo still hasn’t won an Academy Award is the subject of many internet memes.
People love to poke fun at the fact that the actor, who has showcased some impressive acting skills in plenty of roles, has never been acknowledged for this with the coveted award.
His latest project, The Revenant was described by one crew member as “a living hell”.
Vanity Fair reported on the extremes that Leo has gone to in order to make the best film possible. Reportedly, actors were submerged in freezing water, and one was even dragged naked across a snowy mountain for a 200-person battle scene.
Sounds delightful, truly.
Apparently the project has been floating about for a while because “nobody was crazy enough to take this on.”
Leo opened up about the “individual sacrifices” he made for the project that some say might finally get him that elusive Best Actor award.
He told the magazine that these scenes were the most difficult he ever shot.
“Whether it’s going in and out of frozen rivers, or sleeping in animal carcasses, or what I ate on set. [I was] enduring freezing cold and possible hypothermia constantly.”
So, what was he eating on set exactly?
Raw bison liver, not something the actor includes in his usual snack schedule, “You’ll see my reaction to it… It was an instinctive reaction,” he explains.
There is also a very graphic bear-attack scene.
“The end result is going to be one of the most immersive experiences audiences will ever have with what it would be like to come face-to-face with an animal of that magnitude that is incredibly primal.”
Sleeping in animal carcasses, eating raw bison liver and all while wearing quite the unflattering black polo neck, someone just give Leo his Oscar!
