Arrest is made following the discovery of woman’s body in Cork
According to emerging reports, a man in his 40s has been arrested following the discovery of a woman's body in an apartment in Cork city in the early hours of this morning.
It has been established that the discovery was made when emergency services were called to an apartment on Popham Road in Farranree at 3.30am.
According to The Irish Times, the woman as pronounced dead at the scene while the man present was arrested for assault causing harm. He was brought to Mayfield Garda Station where he can be questioned for 24 hours.
The deceased, who is believe to be in her 30s, will be removed to Cork University Hospital later today ahead of a post mortem.
Meanwhile, Gardaí have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and utilising CCTV footage in an effort to further the investigation.
