Blake Lively has finally responded to THAT Instagram controversy
After causing some amount of controversy on Instagram back in May, Blake Lively has finally responded to the accusations of racism and prejudice which were levelled at her last month.
Having shared a stunning shot of herself at the Cannes Film Festival, the actress made what many consider a major blunder by captioning the snap with lyrics from 1992 hit Baby Got Back.
Writing "LA face with Oakland booty," alongside the photo, the soon-to-be mum-of-two came under fire for propagating class and racial stereotypes within the United States.
While Instagram users and the song's writer, Sir Mix-A-Lot, all weighed in on the debate at the time, Blake herself has kept schtum…until now.
Speaking up during promotion for her new film, The Shallows, the former Gossip Girl star defended her decision to share the snap with the caption, saying: "It’s just about celebrating women’s bodies and that’s what I was doing."
Justifying the post to Sirius XM, 28-year-old Blake insisted she hadn't anticipated the backlash, saying: "I never want to hurt anyone’s feelings or upset anyone. I was celebrating my body."
We wonder if that will be the last of it now…
