A bit bored of red, white and rose? Well, now you can drink BLUE wine
We like the odd glass of wine here in SHEmazing! HQ, but something we never thought we'd ever hear of is blue wine.
Yes, BLUE wine.
Making it's way to the UK (and hopefully Ireland), Spanish firm Gik, has created blue wine from a mixture of red and white grapes, which are grown in vineyards near Madrid and say it tastes similar to a sweet Riesling.
Coming in at under a tenner (€9.26), it's certainly going to be interesting to try – yet, the entrepreneurs of the blue concoction describe themselves as "young people without any wine tradition." Hmmm…
“Try to forget everything you know about wine. Try to unlearn the hundreds of protected wine designations of origin, the complex and demanding service standards and everything that sommelier said at a tasting course to which you were invited," says the Gik website.
“We do not believe in wine tasting rules and we don’t think that anybody should need to study the bible of enology to enjoy a glass of wine."
We'd try it… Maybe.
