BREAKING: Reports of gun shots at the Notre Dame Cathedral
French police have reportedly shot a man outside the Notre Dame in Paris after he tried to attack them with a hammer.
Paris police say they are attending an incident at Notre Dame and are warning the public to stay away, according to Reuters.
Shots were fired in front of Notre Dame a few minutes ago, we had been there, but had just crossed the street. People ran everywhere.

Eyewitness accounts claim that gunshots were heard in the area before the crowd scattered.
Reports claim that tourists and religious worshippers are trapped within the Cathedral.
Those inside are believed to be safe.
