Britney Spears’ ex is heartbroken… and he wants her to know
It's only been two days since Britney Spears' split from Charlie Ebersol was confirmed, and he doesn't seem to be coping too well so far.
The couple began dating last October, but over the weekend friends close to the pair revealed they had called it quits.
Unlike Brit's last relationship with David Lucado – which ended with a bang when he was reportedly unfaithful – this time around there was very little drama. That doesn't mean there's no heartbreak, though, as friends of Charlie reveal to People magazine that he has been "torn up" about the split and that he really thought Britney could be "the one."
Poor Charlie even took to Instagram yesterday to try and lift his spirits (or get Britney's attention), posting a message and video that definitely seemed to be directed at the singer.
"I wish for you today, that you find great joy in the joy you spark in others. If nothing else, I hope you're happy just in knowing that you made me happy. It is never lost on me the love with which I have been blessed," he wrote, along with a clip of him and his dog set to Randy Newman music.
Talk about milking it…
As for Britney, she seems to have been making the most of single life so far, if her own most recent Instagram post is anything to go by. The Piece of Me singer shared a picture over the weekend of herself posing on a boat with a mystery muscle man, writing, "So nice to be home! Nothing like Louisiana boys."
The singer may have only been dating Charlie for eight months, but it seems she could have gotten cold feet as the film producer pushed to move things on faster. "He [Charlie] really thought she could be the one. He is a very private, family guy and saw Britney fitting right in," a source said.
In fact, earlier this year it was rumoured the couple had even gotten engaged as Brit was spotted sporting a diamond sparkler on her ring finger.
As of yet it's not clear whether Charlie's social media message got her attention, but it definitely seems like Britney has the upper hand in this battle.
