Oh, yes! Chanel bag is actually a better investment than a HOUSE
Like many of us you may have dreamed about one day owning a classic quilted Chanel bag – you know the ones: they’re in a buttery soft leather, come with a chic chain strap and go with everything.
But with a price point in the thousands (goddammit!), these bags are just that: a dream.
However, if you were looking for some sort of valid excuse to finally splurge on one of these babies, we can help you out.
According to a study by baghunter.com, a Chanel bag is not only a sound investment, growing in value year on year, it’s a safer bet than a house.
Yep, the Medium Classic Flap Bag was $1,650 in 2005, $2,850 by 2010, $4,400 by 2012, and $4,900 as of May 2016.
Of course you could put that down to inflation and labour costs etc., but baghunter.com says you would be wrong.
“Inflation between 1955 and 2015 averages at 3.70% per year,” says the study. “If we were to apply this to a Chanel Medium Classic Flap Bag purchased in 1955 for $220, today’s price would be $1,967.17. That’s a full $2,932.83 less than the actual value of the iconic Chanel bag.”
According to the site, the resale value of these bags is huge, making them a sound financial investment.
So there you go – if you buy a Chanel bag you’re basically making an investment that should pay back dividends in years to come (well, that’s if you can bring yourself to sell it!)
