Controversial Galliano won’t be taking over from Oscar de la Renta
It looks like any chance of John Galliano replacing Oscar de la Renta when the time comes have been firmly cast aside.
The controversial Galliano who was head designer for Dior from 1996-2011 undertook a 3 week trial with de la Renta recently.
Galliano was let go by Dior following a scandal in which he made anti-semetic comments.
Of this trial, de la Renta said: “We all loved having John here in the studio and would like him to find a way of having him here more often.”
As de la Renta is now 81, it has been said he had hopes that Gallinao would be his successor.
This was Galliano’s most prominent fashion job since the Dior scandal.
However, following this it would seem the deal is off.
