Corrie star on damage control after insensitive tweet

by

Jack P Shepherd, who plays David on Coronation Street, angered a lot of people last night after joking about the horrific arson attack on an animal shelter in Manchester, which saw 60 dogs killed.

His tweets read: "I have a billion hot dog jokes", followed by: "You guys need to lighten up. #GetItLightenUp".

They have since been deleted and Jack has been on damage control, tweeting:

"I sincerely apologise for any offence I have caused. This was not intended to be a malicious tweet and I didn't consider the offence it would cause.

"At the time I didn't realise the scale of the tragedy but that doesn't excuse my behaviour. I now realise how insensitive I have been. I have made a donation to the MCR dogs home and I'm very sorry for my behaviour."

A Coronation Street spokeswoman also released a statement, saying: "Jack quickly realised the insensitivity of his tweets and deleted them straight away. He apologises for any offence he has caused.

"Jack's ill judged and insensitive tweets were clearly unacceptable and we will be talking to him about his conduct."

While we all love a good joke, this was definitely a pretty bad one. Not cool, Jack!
