Drogheda houses evacuated after ‘suspect’ device found in pub toilet
A number of residential properties in Drogheda were evacuated and a section of a street sealed off yesterday evening following reports that a suspect device had been found in a pub.
The item, which was discovered in the toilets of a pub on the Chord Road, was examined by the Army Bomb Disposal team, a Garda spokesperson confirmed last night.
Suspicious device found in our area, so we’ve been evacuated from our flat (along with other residents) to the @thedhotel across the river. Lovely hot chocolate on hand. Waiting on the Garda to give us the all clear. Just your average Tuesday night in Drogheda!

As a precaution, a quiet residential area off the town was sealed off, with approximately 30 to 40 people evacuated from the properties.
Local Independent councillor Kevin Callan praised the work of the Gardaí.
He said: “The efforts of the Gardai in taking no chances and protecting residents in the immediate area is very reassuring and shows the professional approach of the officers involved.”
