We finally have a first look image at the stage adaptation of Dr. Strangelove!
Bord Gáis Energy Theatre will soon play host to the world’s first stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s timeless classic, Dr. Strangelove.
The brand-new adaptation will make its Irish stage debut in February of next year, with the cast being led by award-winning actor Steve Coogan.
Steve, who has won seven BAFTAs across his career so far, will play multiple roles in Dr. Strangelove, including President Merkin Muffley, Group Captain Lionel Mandrake and Major TJ Kong, as well as the titular role.
Giles Terera will join him as General Buck Turgisdon, while John Hopkins will play General Jack D. Ripper and Oliver Alvin-Wilson will take on the role of Jefferson.
Dr. Strangelove is described as a “jet-black comedy masterpiece”, which sees a rogue U.S. General triggering a nuclear crisis.
Speaking about the upcoming project, Steve Coogan praised the production by explaining: “The idea of putting Dr. Strangelove on stage is daunting. A huge responsibility. It’s also an exciting challenge, an opportunity to bring this timeless classic to a new audience.”
He added: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to take our version of this unique story to Dublin – where it will have its Irish Premiere at Dublin’s beautiful Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.”
Dr. Strangelove will be running at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin from February 5 to February 22 of next year. Ticket prices begin at €21.50 and are available to purchase now from the theatre’s website here.
