FREENOW sees 15% surge in ride hailing over bank holiday
FREENOW, Ireland’s leading multi-mobility app experienced a 15% increase in ride hailing requests during the June Bank Holiday weekend, signalling the start of the Summer season. The weekend witnessed a number of popular festivals and events like Bloom and Forbidden Fruits taking place which attracted people from all over Ireland to Dublin City.
The sunny June Bank Holiday weekend saw an unprecedented demand for FREENOW, with Sunday emerging as the busiest day on the app. During the peak hours of 9pm to midnight, demand spiked by 140% compared to the previous week, as people flocked to enjoy al fresco dining or gather with friends for a relaxing sundowner. Notably, the busiest hour of the entire bank holiday weekend occurred from 11pm to 12am on Sunday with an astonishing nearly 3.5 ride hailing requests per second, reflecting the nation's enthusiasm for the arrival of summer.
FREENOW also experienced the busiest week of trips to the airport so far this year, facilitating a staggering 25,600 taxi trips to Dublin Airport during the June Bank Holiday weekend. Whether it was jetting off to an exotic destination or a short European city break, people seized the opportunity to maximize their long weekend.
Popular drop-off locations in Dublin over the weekend mirrored the city's vibrant drinking and dining scenes, including Camden Street and Dawson Street and the delightful weather also enticed people to visit popular swimming spots like the 40 Foot and Vico Baths.
