‘Give up on me if you want’ Lorde has a message for impatient fans
Apparently you're only as good as your last record, so when it comes to a second album, the pressure is always on.
And after three years and still no sign of Lorde's, it looks like the Kiwi singer might be feeling the stress.
But so, reportedly, are her fans.
Deprived of any new material, fans of the Royals singer decided to take aim at the star who is currently sunning herself on holiday.
After making the decision to share snaps of her vacation on Instagram, Lorde was, according to the New Zealand Herald, forced to acknowledge the fact that her fans may be starting to lose interest in the singer.
"Do you think we'll ever get another album or should we just give up on you as an artist," wrote one of her 4.1 million followers.
And instead of ignoring the dig, Lorde decided to tackle it head-on, responding: "Give up on me if you want to!"
"I'm an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it's all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork."
With a parting shot at her critic, Lorde added: "The record is written, we're in the production stage now. I've worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys."
Both comments have since been deleted, and we're sure Lore is having right ol' rant down the blower to Tay.
