Here’s why Roscommon is the perfect place for a spring minibreak
County Roscommon, centrally located in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, is emerging as the perfect destination for a refreshing spring getaway. The stunning county is brimming with seasonal activities, trails, cycleways, rich history, culture, and captivating experiences just waiting to be discovered.
As it is a stone throw away from all major cities and towns, Roscommon is an ideal haven for those seeking to immerse themselves in nature and history off the beaten track. Luckily, throughout the spring season, there are plenty of opportunities for you to do so.
On March 30, the county will be celebrating the launch of the annual Roscommon Easter Festival. The festival will delight visitors with events beginning in Roscommon town square, with music from the hugely popular Roscommon Male Choir, followed by the lively tunes of Vinegar Bill and the outstanding traditional Irish musician Matt Molloy.
On Easter Sunday (March 31), visitors can catch Lady Betty’s performance in the town square before the magical Roscommon Easter Parade sets off at 12:30 pm. With amusements, street performers, face painting, and exciting prizes to be won, it’s bound to be an egg-citing weekend for all… but the magic doesn't stop there!
