Hit the trails & join Focus Ireland in the fight against homelessness
Lace up your hiking boots, grab your bike or hit the trail for ‘On the move,’ a new series of fitness and adventure events from Focus Ireland and supported by Horizon Therapeutics, that offers a choice of challenges to be completed during the summer months (July-September) to raise vital funds for homeless services. Focus Ireland aims to raise vital funds to support record-breaking numbers of children and families currently facing homelessness in Ireland.
Throughout the series, participants will be able to experience the splendour that is uniquely Ireland in iconic locations such as Donegal, Kerry, Limerick, Mayo, Waterford, and Wicklow. Whether it’s ascending Ireland’s highest peak Carrauntoohil, a spectacular full moon hike on Sliabh Liag, or cycling the scenic Westport to Achill Greenway, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
A record of 12,259 people are currently experiencing homelessness in Ireland, including 3,594 children. In comparison to 9,825 people at the same time last year, homelessness is rapidly increasing, making this year’s efforts more important than ever.
So, stretch those legs and be active for change as part of ‘On the move’ for Focus Ireland, by taking part in a challenge, or organise your very own challenge.
To register, go to onthemove.focusireland.ie, select your challenge/s, join as an individual or a group, and pay your registration fee to secure your place (registration fees will cover event and administrative costs). All participants will receive an ‘On the move’ t-shirt, fundraising materials and support to help them reach their fundraising goals.
Focus Ireland will be holding six exciting events across Ireland (three hikes and three greenways):
