Hon the lads! Twenty Irish soldiers invade Lotto HQ after half a mil win
Twenty Irish soldiers entered Lotto HQ on Abbey Street today to pick up a cheque for almost half a million euro.
The men – who are all part of the 3rd Infantry Battalion in Kilkenny’s Stephens Barracks – won €453,000 after matching five numbers and the bonus number on Saturday August 27.
According to The Irish Sun the group – who are aged between 23 and 54 – intend to split their winnings equally with each member taking home €22,635.
A spokesperson for the syndicate described how the soldiers intend to put their winnings to good use.
Daniel McGrath said: “There’s a few lads getting married soon and a couple are buying houses, so it couldn’t have come at a better time for them.”
“And two have new born babies, so the money will give them a good start. We’re all delighted and we’ll have a few drinks together back in Kilkenny today to celebrate, and a day off work tomorrow.”
