House of Cards creator responds to claims against Kevin Spacey
Members of the public and high-profile names in the entertainment industry have taken to Twitter today to condemn Kevin Spacey's response to allegations he behaved in appropriately towards a child actor in the 1980s.
After claiming to have no recollection of an exchange with Star Trek actor, Anthony Rapp, the actor then went on to use the same statement as a platform to come out as gay.

Unsurprisingly, the message was met with incredulity from the press and public, who wasted no time telling the House of Cards star that there exists no correlation between homosexuality and paedophilia.
Well done Kev. You stay silent on your sexuality until the time comes when you can conflate it with an alleged sexual assault on a minor.

In doing so, you simultaneously undervalue the horrific nature of the allegation and set back the LGBT+ community. Well done.

Weighing in on the discussion, House of Cards creator, Beau Willimon, has asserted that the reports currently surrounding Spacey have made for unsettling reading.
Taking to Twitter, Beau wrote: "Anthony Rapp’s story is deeply troubling."

"During the time I worked with Kevin Spacey on House of Cards, I neither witnessed nor was aware of any inappropriate behavior on set or off."
"That said," Beau continued. "I take reports of such behavior seriously and this is no exception. I feel for Mr. Rapp and I support his courage.”
Despite the backlash surrouning Spacey's statement, the post has been liked in excess of 55,000 times on Twitter so far today.
