“I killed my dogs and ate them,” Johnny Depp jokes in Venice
Earlier this year Johnny Depp and Amber Heard caused quite the scandal. The two disobeyed import laws and brought their dogs into Australia illegally.
Boo and Pistol. Yorkshire terriers, were brought into the country without permits or quarantine and local authorities had ordered the duo to remove the canines from the country.
Using their private jet, the couple did just that.
While Amber has been quite outspoken about the ordeal, Johnny chose this week to break his silence about the supposed scandal.
At the Venice Film Festival when asked about the dogs, the 52-year old responded:
"I killed my dogs and ate them under direct orders from some kind of, I don't know, sweaty, big-gutted man from Australia.”
This was apparently in relation to the Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce.
In April he accused Johnny of smuggling the dogs aboard a private plane when he was re-entering Oz in order to continue filming the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film.
He was told at the time by Joyce that he had 52 hours to get the dogs out of the country. He issued an ultimatum that if he did not fly the dogs out, he would have them put down.
The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions issues summons against Amber to appear in court this month. She is being charged over a biosecurity breach.
